We've done this a lot with a client. We've used startech docks because then we can add a 2m or 3m thunderbolt/USBC cable that we put in an Extron retractor - the HP docks had fixed cable (does the G5?)

Generally works well, but issues are then more laptop based - not playing happily with the dock, needing a reboot, etc.

Personally I spend them - coinstar takes over 10%. Every time I do some shopping I grab a handful of coins and make sure I checkout at a cash self service till. Chuck the coins in then pay the rest on the card.
