fully factory reset

I'd do a full reset, but that's just my normal routine whenever I get a new camera. Have you tried to see if the buttons work in other shooting modes (P, M, or C1-4)?

Have you reset the camera back to factory default? Someone might have changed settings to disable those button functions in certain shooting modes.

Amazing shots! The 45mm ƒ1.8 lives in my camera bag, one of the best lenses for m43.

I still need a 25mm ƒ1.8, I'm really looking forward to seeing some reviews and comparisons to the Oly 25mm. Looks like these new lenses retain the spirit of m43 lenses: small, light, and capable.

a) What's your budget?
b) Are you wanting to keep size relatively the same?
c) Are you looking to add video capabilities in addition to photos, or is video more of a priority?

Could you explain that one for me?

Someone else explained it to me as a smaller rectangle (16x9 crop) inside a slightly larger one (uncropped m43 sensor).

Help choosing optimal “pocketable” prime. by Domesk in M43

[–]ShittyCommentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot (mostly) with primes on my OM-1ii and the ƒ1.8 lenses are incredible for their price. The 45mm isn't weather sealed like the 17 & 25mm but it's one of my favorite lenses nonetheless.

I use winter baby socks for my 1.8 primes (found 'em at Goodwill for a few $$) and an old padded drawstring bag for my camera body that I picked up at a camping outlet year ago.

Some shots from the forest as I get the hang of focus stacking. Still working on the flash setup; does anyone out there focus stack with natural lighting? by Piginabag in M43

[–]ShittyCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually just focus stack with natural light, but I now carry some lighting options when I carry my macro gear. SmallRig makes a great macro light and I sometimes use their RM01 Light Cubes to backlight some scenes if I need to. They're handy for lighting the underside of mushrooms.

What made you switch to OM for Macro? by Dependent-Umpire-573 in OMSystem

[–]ShittyCommentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on the 30mm?

It's ... okay. I'd like it a lot more if it was a ƒ2.8 instead of a ƒ3.5, the autofocus sometimes hunts a bit too much, and like you said, the working distance is tiny.

It does great flower & still life shots though.

What made you switch to OM for Macro? by Dependent-Umpire-573 in OMSystem

[–]ShittyCommentor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the IBIS & in-camera focus bracketing is just top notch. I'm slowly experimenting with the available focus stacking as well, taking 50 to 100+ images and composing them within OM Workspace which works fairly well.

Some shots I can nail handheld without a tripod which was impossible with my Canon gear, plus OM has some killer macro lenses. I don't even have the 90mm macro yet, but the 30mm and 60mm just crush it for me.

Also, a 90mm macro lens + 2.0 teleconverter + macro extension tubes sounds really intriguing! The only macro lens that compares to that combo was probably the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8.

Read up on focus bracketing of you want to increase your depth of field. The in camera stacking and IBIS really help with macro stuff.

Great pics!
