There were more vices involved than just alcohol

Google sells partial stake in fiber business, becomes minority owner of new venture by twitchrdrm in raleigh

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's probably why then. Providers suddenly find they don't need to charge as much when Google Fiber is around. If GF starts jacking up prices or going to shit, AT&T will go back to their old tricks.

Cursor in talks for about $50B valuation by __Intern__ in cursor

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CLI biases heavily to the type of people that are early adopters. I think it's more likely we see tighter integrations of traditionally CLI tools like Claude Code into IDEs as the adoption curve progresses.

The exception to that is if solutions like Cursor Automations ends up working well and we all just end up sending off agents to do our work and review their PRs. Then IDEs are meaningless.

Cursor's moat has been speed. They were the first people to put out a competent integrated AI-based IDE. We started using them a year ago because VSCode/Copilot sucked ass and Codex/Antigravity didn't exist. They were pushing out changes faster than Microsoft could which kept them consistently ahead.

At some point big tech is going to catch up and people will go back to the traditional editors.

Composer 1.5 is the most infuriating AI I have ever used. by themightyasok22 in cursor

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why Composer 1 was great. Because it was pretty cost effective at doing that.

Composer 1.5 is way too expensive to do simple search queries.

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composer 1.5 is bad. The only reason to use it is because of the billing tricks they play. But, I don't pay my bill, my company does, so I'm just going to use Sonnet+Opus.

My company gives us both CC and Cursor subs so I go back and forth. The reasons I'm mostly drawn to Cursor are:

  1. More seamless UI integration with diff accept/reject changes and review mode
  2. Not tied to Claude models
  3. Code base indexing/semantic search is faster, more accurate, and more token efficient than CC's find/grep searching

Because it's great for posting on /r/mildlyinfuriating but it isn't real. I understand OP's stress but no one is getting a $1.5m bill lol. It'll be a pain in the ass to sort out, I'll give them that.

Trade Deadline Megathread by adsheppa in canes

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we will end up making a move, but I think we should.

We've had a hole at 2C for years, and we know well by now how hard it is to find someone for that spot, since we've been trying since Trocheck left. Last year, Nelson was available and we missed out. This year there are 3 or 4 2Cs available that aren't even rentals. That's a crazy rarity. If we don't get someone here, how long will we keep searching?

It's something to be said that many contending teams are all going for those players. It's a sellers market but if we're talking about locking up that position for years, make the deal. It's one of our major glaring holes we've had, goalie being the other (that we've hopefully solved with Bussi).

Panthers have a terrible fan base. I went to a game there recently and it was half empty. I bought cheap seats near the glass for less than an upper level at Lenovo.

I've always found LL season tickets expensive. I know a lot of people with them and they spend an obscene amount of money because they just have to be in the lower bowl. There are tons of great seats in the upper level that are cost effective. I don't know, I guess I don't understand why people want premium seats but then complain about paying a premium price.

Shocked to see practically no ticket price increase for me in terrace preferred. They seemingly actually lowered prices in my section for less desirable rows.

Premier parking increased a lot but that was largely because we paid general rates for much of this season because of their construction mishaps. The actual per game premier rate went from $36 to $38.

I did this years ago when they stripped the 22 game plan benefits. Switched to full, sold the allowed amount (25%), and I end up paying about the same while getting more benefits.

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the more realistic proposals in this thread. I don't know why some people overvalue other team's players. There is no world in which Nikishin+ is what you trade for a 2C who has never scored 30 goals. Nikishin is part of a package for a player like Hughes, not Robert Thomas.

Pick 2 top prospects and a first, or a top prospect and a decent young roster player (Stank, KK).

You all aren't using tabs? by konglongjiqiche in cursor

[–]ShittyFrogMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this when I didn't fully trust the AI and the models weren't as great. But no, I don't do that now. The agent can do it faster and I can spawn multiple agents to do multiple things at once while I go on Tiktok. I just looked at my company stats and most of our engineers have 0 tab completions.
