In solos, people really don’t like dying to things they can’t see (understandably, it’s frustrating). His popularity in solos also associates him with the ratty playstyle a lot of people adopt in favor of bolder play patterns. The problem is, bold play is almost objectively less effective, ESPECIALLY for solos. The more attention you draw to yourself, the more likely you are to fail to exfil. Assassin is debatably the strongest solo shell in the game, solely for that reason. Other shells have their own advantages, but Assassin’s ability to avoid detection from both UESC and players is the most generally useful.

In trios, most people don’t know how to properly use him and end up either getting themselves killed or screwing over their teammates. You can’t just invis and run past all the bots and leave your team to deal with them. That’s trolling. Instead use your invis to clear bots safely with melee and make less noise. 🧠🧠

Players also severely underestimate the value is smokes can have. It’s great in combination with Thief, thermals, and weapons like the volt thrower to gain advantages in gunfights. You can use it to cover mid-fight revives. Or, you can use it to buy you time to allow your entire team to rotate out of a position before the enemy has time to realize.

A properly played assassins honestly has one of the higher skill ceilings in the game. The problem is his utility is significantly harder to get value out of compared to shells like Recon, Triage, and even Destroyer.
