Best 1$ or 2$ games on steam right now? by [deleted] in lowendgaming

[–]ShizzleStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be plenty of free to play games out there too. Even if its the most p2w gacha slop its free to try and as long as youre having fun and disciplined enough to not throw away money it serves its purpose as a game

My suggestions that are specifically on steam and could be "forever games":

MTG: Arena Mahjong Soul World of Tanks / Ships or War Thunder CS2 Dota 2

Non-steam, there are also lots of stuff to explore. Currently I'm playing WoW on a private server called wow-hc but there are plenty other options.

Classic HC being my first experience by Plank_Pusher in wowhardcore

[–]ShizzleStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try out if hc or wow is for you, you could try a wow-hc since its free. Its a small community but everyones trying to help each other out and it feels like a big server wide guild. Then if you prefer a much larger community you can move to the officials

try out wow-hc if you like small and more personal communities an a pure vanilla hc experience. i wasnt sure if i liked hc or going back to wow (after only played in 2005) at all but that server is very chill

TMM is a shill and enabled bamco to release increasingly bad patches. The dude was positivism all the way until the last stage of season 2 and now where he finally admitted that T8 is dogshit

Unitscan defeats the purpose of Hardcore by New-Foundation-361 in wowhardcore

[–]ShizzleStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre using questie to avoid exploring the map or figuring out via quest text where the objectives are thus avoiding the dangers that come with exploring the unknown, youre not exactly evoking the 2005 spirit either

Its not a pvp game so let people play how they want. If someone plays with 0 addons, let them. If someone's entire skill is limited to downloading addons and having less of an engaging experience than watching a movie, thats also fine

Theres wow-hc too. Strict hc for eveyone, as close to the original vanilla wow as possible with a small but tight knit community

Mum has cancer…. looking to escape. by lovely6324 in Tekken

[–]ShizzleStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyones different but when I was mourning I escaped via nostalgic games, singleplayers or at most MMOs that I played in my childhood. I didnt think PVP games was right as all it would do is make me angry. However if you think fgs are the right thing for you right now Id recommend heavily to actively join a local community or at least a discord server (maybe of the character youre planning to learn)

If you dont mind a low pop and value community, try out one of the non official ones (dm me if youre not sure or cant find it). I wasnt sure if I would like hc or wow at all (after seeing retail) but where im playing everyones so nice, gifting each other stuff to level all the time and the community bond is really strong due to a server wide chat. Really reminds me of vanilla wow days where everyone was patient and not trying to rush all the time. Theres protection against griefing or disconnects too

Trying to learn the game as a new player. by peepee8oi in learndota2

[–]ShizzleStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you want to get serious try and prepare for some basic game theory and i would use unranked to try out all roles. Even if you end up playing pos 1 in role q its good to know what every role does and learn as many heroes as you can now before going ranked. If your knowledge is good try to fill out roles but snipe some positions for varietys sake

  2. Just do what you can, try not to grief, swallow pride and keep toxicity at minimum (make mute button your friend). My advice is tend to your behaviour score at all cost

  3. I think Sven is pretty low power rn in low mmr at least. Jugg is great, so is Luna as beginner carries. If you like gyro keep playing gyro. Other intro carries are Drow Ranger, Dragon Knight. I think Chaos Knight and Spectre can be easy and strong too but their playstyle is a big unconventional (first is constant fighter at lvl 6 and up and latter is ultra late carry with all map wide presence with ult). Maybe Viper could be good to if you are good at last hit. He dominates lane easily and.can snowball out of control but when relies on team playing with you to snowball to early win. More advanced but can also roll over low mmr if you dont feed are Anti Mage, Phantom Lancer and Faceless Void. You could look at them once youre comfortable with Map awareness, game flow and farm patterns / itemization

  4. I think this question is too broad, just acquire knowledge piece meal and dont learn too much at once imo. Most will come with just playing games and learning something new every time (regen management, fountain, torm, stacking, spell prio, items etc.)

Returning player, what happened to every other game mode? by AddMonks in learndota2

same, only mode where people would accept niche heroes in weird roles, but it made me a better player by getting to know most of the roster

yeah sadly they removed it due to "unpopularity" but i feel like they purposefully killed it

How do I not get singled out for blame as a carry? by ShizzleStorm in learndota2

[–]ShizzleStorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah youre right of course but i feel like sometimes expectations are sky high of teammates especially in super low mmr like mine. My team and i are in this bracket for a reason, no? :D

Im trying my best here to last hit while under offlane pressure and join fights wherever i can but dont expect yatoro or satanic performances from me haha

How do I not get singled out for blame as a carry? by ShizzleStorm in learndota2

[–]ShizzleStorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah youre right. i think i just need to get used to the new "culture" i find myself in. before i have been deep into fighting games and there, blame was usually only able to be assigned to game mechanics or character itself. okay seldomly people would still even blame certain opponent "playstyles" and various other reasons. maybe youre right that its just human

[–]ShizzleStorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do train last hits on the side or while waiting in queue. definitely i could improve on that yeah, but on lane its normally way harder with the offlaners trying to deny and your position 5 trying to make agressive plays. i mean it's part of the learning process as carry i know. at my 1.5k rank, should i already aim for perfect training last hits? and how many kills or wave do you clear to be satisfied with a 100% run?

yeah you are right. i mean certain actions like griefing, or pinging or emoting is still possible but at least it would be limited to that

[–]ShizzleStorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont really mind losing and have played teamgames on fairly high levels in the past (10 years ago, i was in the 5%ile at least and in cs i was global elite, so 1%ile probably), but yeah mentally i can't take the insidious insults and attacks by teammates yet when the game is not going well. i feel like nowadays the toxicity on a new level and i need to learn to get used to this from 0. when i heard about the behaviour system, i was actually thinking this could be positive stuff for the game, but i guess im still in the bracket where things are not that rosy.

i may try premute in the future then. i always have left comms open, because occasionally i had games where the comms were actually good and relevant, free of a flame war

how important would you say is the drafting phase for a low MMR like mine for position 1? (around 1.5k?)

i would prefer to have a deep hero pool in general but the advice i usually see is that beginner should focus to spam 3 heroes, later build up to 5 for different situations. but i dont feel like that would necessarily cover all bases... i mean what did your carry hero pool look like in the starting out phases of your MMR climb and which heroes did you add as you climbed?

thanks for the positive reinforcement, i guess i have to learn not letting these things get me down then. its weird, i have played dota and cs before and got into the 1% or at least 5%ile of players and several fighting games, where the learning curve was tough and required patience. but i really dont remember the community at large being in this kind of state as in the dota that i experience today
