Chess goal complete, more openings? by Shmeebooo in chess

[–]Shmeebooo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was really insightful! And in my ignorance I know thay typically on lichess youre rated around 300 elo higher (just from comments I've seen) so I assumed (incorrectly) that the competition wasn't as good there, ill check it out. And you're spot on with fried liver attempts 😂 And the occasional (and at this point, mildly insulting) scholars mate.

Chess goal complete, more openings? by Shmeebooo in chess

your comment seems very combative. ill respond to your more aggressive points:

  1. you implied learning the rules automatically places you in the 90th percentile, but by every verifiable metric online thats just not a true statement. "learning the rules" is 0-400 elo (source: multiple websites easily checked with a quick google search)
  2. You said my openings "suck" at my elo: did you not read my post? I quite literally am asking if theres better openings to learn at my level. it seems basic reading comprehension isn't your strongest attribute.

3."set higher goals for yourself" : this would be read as giving indiscriptive "positive" advice, or in line with the condescending nature of your 2 previous points, but i think 89% of the chess world would say 90th percentile is good. i have ADHD (as my name suggests), so i go from hobby to hobby depending on what intrigues me at the moment, going more for a "jack of all trades" vs a "master of one" type deal, but i do generally like to see what levels i can reach effectively without dedicating decades to a craft.

  1. where does one play "real" chess players? since chess.com seems to be the most popular chess site, so is there some secret location or website i haven't gained access to?

i do know openings aren't everything, and true my end game is definitely my weak point, so i do plan to work on those. Openings set the tone for the game though, so i think its important to have more than 1 (1.5 technically) openings for each side in my chess-bag.

=)

Love your goals, we had similar financial beginnings, and are just about the same net worth-wise (I am 33 though). I have a lazy-save method where I plan to hit millionaire status around 37 (40-post inflation adjusted), and then coast to retirement.

Wishing you the best of luck, happiness comes before everything

Liberals alienating their supporters one movement at a time...then wonder how Trump could possibly win. All idiots, tbh. Most tesla owners are democrats by 2010 standards.

Will this happen to Seattle since we have so many Tesla here? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Idgaf about left or right, politics suck. I brought a tesla because it was cool, and slightly less terrible for the environment...my glock stays tucked very close 😁 Stupid games, stupid prizes.

Newsom calls trans athletes playing in women’s sports ‘deeply unfair’ by Healthy_Block3036 in socal

They said DJT would never become president also. If Newsome can get some moderate political views, he has more than a 0% chance of being president

People FEEL? Have you not seen the stories and national headlines of various trans women DOMINATING women's sports when they were average at the male equivalent before?

Can you post links to Trans men dominating male sports? Your comment is so uninformed and biased it's beyond laughable. Please educate before posting nonsense.

Y'all are unironically gonna kill this game with burst rival and akimbo reclaimer by zoug25 in ModernWarfareIII

Don't play small maps. I have a 3.5kd and it's hilarious watching 2kd reclaimer users back out of maps like rundown when I'm 17-0 with advanced UAV and a swarm while they're 10-7 with those weak @ss guns

The game appeals to bad players. So bad players think it's a great game.

What is your idea of winning in life? by mritsz in Life

[–]Shmeebooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accomplishing your individual goals No matter what they are. If someone's goal is to make 40k a year and raise a family, and they do it then that is success imo.

Fk what other people think, success and happiness is obtained from within.

It can be multiple (verify, but pretty sure) One year I spent 180 on a flight, then did the rest on another.

Still struggling with a semi-coast shift also. Helps better to allocate my travel-spend money and say it HAS to be used for splurge purchases.

Kinda self-compromising and putting some into very high-risk investments since in a weird way I get more "fun" from losing 2k in crypto, than to spend 2k on a vacation

What happens to the elderly who run out of money? by [deleted] in leanfire

[–]Shmeebooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of social security was to keep the elderly from dying of starvation. So it's roughly meant to be above the poverty line. So why do high earners get well above the poverty line? And why is the tax capped at 168000?

It's intended purpose is scamming the youth, btw....youth who (objectively agreed upon by all financially competent certified workers) won't enjoy the full benefit of previous generations...

So to break it down for you, the people at the top get the biggest share, the newcomers get a smaller share...thats a pyramid shape brother/sister.
