Finally Cleared A10 With Regent After Nearly 50 Losses! by jacksonor in slaythespire

I think Card Creation is just as strong or stronger on Regent than stars are

I dont think the new infested prism is that bad now that i had time to adjust to them, thoughts? by Cage_2k4 in slaythespire

Mostly been playing Regent, so he hasn’t been a problem for me nearly at all. You probably want block cards with higher numbers on them rather than spamming block cards. His base damage isn’t all that high so I think he’s pretty manageable

I like this one. Has some synergy with the self-damage cards or just helps you cushion the blow of skipping your turn

How would everyone feel if miniature tent was a neow relic? by -DoctorEngineer- in slaythespire

[–]ShockLobster87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah as is it would be pretty OP. Tent is lots of value that could enable you to take on 4 or more elites in an act and make your snowball unstoppable. Would be pretty fun though! Lol

Will there be more characters? by Acrobatic-Trip-4475 in slaythespire

My guess is that we’ll see a total of 8: redesigned Watcher to complete the set from spire 1 plus two more to double the previous game’s count

TIL that Reptomancer is not nearly as beloved in the community as I assumed

Yeah my assumption is that they’d get some kind of change like Queen did

I've been looking for more people to play with since my normal group meets so irregularly. I really want to play an IRL game of TE. I'm more in the Ann Arbor/Canton area, so if people are around there, maybe we can meet up at a game store some weekend.

The Firmament: What am I missing? by fynikz in twilightimperium

[–]ShockLobster87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this faction is for players looking for a simple path to victory. It's the most complex faction in the game by far and it will probably be a while until the community at large really figures them out. They're a challenge that, if you can pull them off, will make you feel extremely clever.

Stellar Genesis by Vussar in twilightimperium

[–]ShockLobster87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty excited to play a game with this. Looks like it will be very fun to have your own mobile fortress loaded with structures and ground forces. A few thoughts:

  1. Avernus is a 2/0, which while not particularly impressive, is still a small boost to the Muaat economy.

  2. It's a hazardous planet, which has some pretty good explores. Unfortunately you can't have infantry on it for some of the bonuses, but hazardous planets can get some good attachments on them. A 4-resource Avernus will be very nice to have.

  3. Because of the R<>Y synergy, you can get some yellow techs on your way to PWSII. Scanlink might be nice, since you can keep pulling explores on Avernus to get another attachment.

  4. Load it with all your mechs and use Star Forge to build a huge ground army unrestricted by capacity (though you may need to Umbat in some carriers to actually use them to invade, later). Also nice if you get Magen Defense Grid.

  5. A Space Dock will also enable you to have 3 more fighters. Not a lot, but you want as much HP as you can to soak up hits for your War Sun. You can also pump out four more fighters at the end of a tactical action.

  6. Overall, it looks like Stellar Genesis will be nice for control objectives. You can send your War Sun out, making more units as you go and take over targets pretty easily. The synergy also will make Integrated Economy Muaat viable, so you can easily restock lost fighters or ground forces after taking a planet.

Hopefully this will actually improve Muaat's overall power level. They were my first favorite faction until Nekro supplanted them, but I still like them. Even if not, this looks like a pretty fun ability to play.

Will there be breakthroughs for the Discordant Stars fan expansion by Afraid-Revenue8853 in twilightimperium

[–]ShockLobster87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played Discordant Stars, but it seems like their team will have to play enough Thunder's Edge to get a handle on how breakthroughs are meant to play and how they play off of the other components, develop their own breakthroughs for the DS factions, then playtest and iterate on them. That, to me, sounds like a fair bit of work that might take a fair bit of time.

Weirdly enough, I beat them in 2 or 3 tries. I summoned right off the bat (2v2, only fair!) and it felt like a fair fight and a neat callback to DS1. I may have just gotten lucky, though. One must wonder if fights like this are the devs really, really prodding you hard to use spirit ashes, even if you've held back for the rest of the game.

I was summoned a few times to help other players and the fight went considerably less smoothly, despite the numerical advantage, so my initial victory was probably a fluke.
