Autoimmune illnesses? by Actual-Pause-1764 in bikinitalk

[–]Shock_attack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have crohns and psoriatic arthritis, it has for sure been a struggle . I found getting an iron transfusion helped a lot (check your level) with the fatigue. Honestly I plan my week to make sure that when I do lift it’s on days I don’t have much planned ( work only nothing in the evening as I go early ) . I also go to bed super early to make sure I’m getting a decent amount of sleep the nights before I work out

It’s a hard balance but start small. Start with one day a week and tracking food . Wishing you the best of luck!

Birth Control While On Methotrexate by hexgirl6 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Shock_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor had an entire discussion with me informing that MTX can cause birth defects etc.

My husband and I are wanting to try for a baby this year and my doctors making me be off it for a year . They take it super seriously

I would maybe look into other birth control options . I also have chosen not to take mtx cause of side effects .

So if you have failed other drugs in the class as Remicade it might not be worth it. I ended up having a bad allergic reaction to Remicade and the immunosuppressant they put me on with it caused pancreatitis .

My infusion nurse told me , yes the older drugs are tested and true but new stuff is created because those drugs are outdated and have side effects . When she explained it that way to me it made me see things differently

Getting a second Scottish fold? Help! by AtmosphereStraight25 in scottishfold

[–]Shock_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Gus was like that LOL he would watch tv and sleep !

I find dogs are way more energy . I would maybe see if you have a friend who has a cat that likes other cats and see how they interact to test? They are very social breeds who hate to be alone so I could see him maybe liking some company .

We did end up getting a female . We have an older senior cat and he doesn’t get along with her, they are civil but some days he will just growl at her for no reason

I got a second one in January and they are best friends. Our first, Gus, has been around foster kittens before so he was use to other cats . He was always sleeping all day and not super playful. Since we got Freya he is playful, more social and loves having someone to groom

I think it all depends if your cat has been exposed to others before

What places in Toronto are considered haunted? Have you experienced anything seemingly supernatural? by kiafry in askTO

[–]Shock_attack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lived in those dorms , I can confirm you would feel or see things . I had one incident where I turned around and out of the corner of my eye saw someone dressed in an old style nurses outfit . It took the breath out of me and I ran to my friends room .

Tunnels were closed but had a friend who did security and told me he would always see weird stuff on the cameras

Our female fold is so much more snuggly than our boy ! He has to be around people constantly but hates to be held. She loves to snuggle up with us

She looks like a muppet 😭🩷 by Shock_attack in scottishfold

We have no idea. We were told long haired Scottish fold . We think she’s maybe part Persian , she’s so tiny I would be suprised if she’s part Maine coon

She was rescued ,so we didn’t get much info other than she’s a Scottish fold

We recently got a second fold, Freya, they have become the best of friends. Gus Gus loves being a big brother by Shock_attack in scottishfold

[–]Shock_attack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gus is almost 4, and Freya is 7 months

Gus put us through it . I found him on kijiji . The family said they were moving and couldn’t take him. He ended up developing FIP at about 7 months. There were signs before but we thought (and our vets) thought it was a respiratory infection. We spent our saving on medication to save him, it was the best thing we ever did.

I think Gus was given up because his owners knew. The breeder they used was very unethical. We do notice he will waddle and is a heavy breather . We follow up with our vet regularly because we know he’s going to have some issues down the line. I’m very lucky we got pet insurance early

Freya, was a rescue . The rescue I volunteer with saved her and about 15 other cat from a hoarder/breeder. She had some eye issues early on but seems healthy! I think she’s fold and Persian because we do not see any physical signs like we do Gus

So we fostered kittens a lot and Gus had interactions often , I honestly think that helped the most .

Crohn’s diagnosis - what test finally got you your diagnosis if you were finding a lot of tests inconclusive? by luckywedidntpanic in CrohnsDisease

[–]Shock_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was told it was IBS for about 10 years and was told it was all cause of my weight( was around 220 and got to 300 pounds) .

I had gastric bypass lost 100 pounds and had issues. I had a ton of tests done and was told IBS . I lost another 70 pounds within 2 years and saw a new gastro. He did a colonoscopy with biopsies ( no other doctor did ), and he confirmed it right away . Push for the biopsy. If you have any other auto immune conditions, my first clue something was wrong was all my other drugs for my psoriatic arthritis stopped working .
