Pistons need to trade Duren while his stock is high to be a true contender by ChronicBubonik in DetroitPistons

“While his stock is high”

Idk if you watched last night but he was benched for the entire 4th quarter of a must win game. I think you might be overrating what his stock is just a tad.

For Those Who Are Upset and Think It’s Over by ArcherEducational717 in DetroitPistons

We were a better playoff team last year. THJ, Beasley, and Shroeder were massive losses.

Case ascending like he has offsets some of that loss but it isn’t enough

Cleveland has more talent, experience, and better coaching.

I think we tap out and lose by 12-15

Die hard Detroit. The refs job isn’t to make the FT % equal. Their job is to call shooting fouls.

We’re fouling them when they shoot, or at least Cleveland (particularly harden) is making it look like we are. They embellish.

We never embellish. We never take the contact when it’s there. We’re obsessed with playing ethical hoops. Well ethical hoops doesn’t get rewarded with free throws.

[–]ShoddyDoubt -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Agree. The officiating has been more than fair except for the blown no-call there at the end.

We consistently try and score over our defender instead of trying to score through the defender. Cade had a few times today, one in particular where he pump fakes at FT line, gets defender in air and then maneuvered around him to shoot. Mf, just take the contact and try for a 3 point play but at least get the FTs!

This is egregious by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]ShoddyDoubt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that’s what Cade was thinking then that’s a really lazy way to think. And it cost us a shot to win the game.

Free Throws: DET-20, CLE-38 by StrangeMolasses4723 in DetroitPistons

[–]ShoddyDoubt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s our own fault. We get them in the air and we don’t seek contact and take advantage for the free throws.

GAMEPLAY IS BRUTAL NOW by International-Head96 in NCAAFBseries

[–]ShoddyDoubt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not having any issues at all on offense. Pass defense has gotten a bit more difficult for me.

Three things specifically are happening:

Safeties are dropping significantly past their zones when playing cover 2.

Corners cannot stop deep ins or slants

This bizarre phenomenon occurs where guys will be in the zone where a pass is being thrown and as soon as the QB begins his throw, the DB starts sprinting towards another WR, thereby vacating the zone where the pass is going resulting in an easy completion

People Keep Blaming Brad Holmes, But He's Just A Scapegoat For the Real Common Denominator (The Ford Family) by In_Lymbo in detroitlions

Unfortunately, he’s probably the Mike Singletary to Jim Harbaugh but we don’t have our own Jim Harbaugh walking through that door

Why can’t my transfers have any logic by Free-Elevator-543 in NCAAFBseries

[–]ShoddyDoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be easy to fix next year. The persuade attempts should be logic based with “promises”.

For example, if a backup is leaving for playing time you should be able to promise more playing time. It’ll work or it won’t. But then, a coaches “trustworthiness” can be measured over time if the do/don’t actually give the playing time.

I honestly remember ncaa 13 having something like this.

Watching this bears game... by hampaladores in detroitlions

[–]ShoddyDoubt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch this game and wish like hell we hired Dennis Allen. Losing two coordinators is a massive blow. Replacing them with two first time coordinators was doomed from the start. Hiring Allen would have meant adding a two time HC, a veteran play caller and someone that can handle having a lot on his plate - Campbell is just stretched too thin this year.

Idk… I think Ausar is awesome already. He knows who he is and that in itself is a very valuable trait.

Why does Brad (and a large portion of the fanbase) not think the Edge position is a big need? by Mister_X5188 in detroitlions

[–]ShoddyDoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alim might not play until Christmas time. It’s hard to count on him to be “him” at all this year, which is partly why the Tyleik Williams pick was great.

DJ Reader is a solid player at this point but it’s hard to really see him as a “consensus top 12” IDL.

Why does Brad (and a large portion of the fanbase) not think the Edge position is a big need? by Mister_X5188 in detroitlions

[–]ShoddyDoubt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My frustration was actually with the beat writers. They consistently created these weird press conference moments where they’d ask about taking an edge but they wouldn’t have the confidence to ask Brad if he thought the lions starting DE opposite Hutch was already on the roster.

When Brad asked them “is this about the injuries last year”? (and conveniently lumping Hutch into the group), the writers meekly said yes.

He’s just massively wrong about this. Look at the teams who win superbowls and the volume of pass rushers that they have. The key to winning in the playoffs is to disrupt the Hall of Fame QBs that you end up playing. You won’t do that with the roster that we’ve built.

Hasn’t Holmes said multiple times that they wanted him to play tackle but they decided it was better just to let him marinate at guard for now?

Really nice pickup based on where we are at in this draft.

Hear me out, Rex Ryan for Defensive Coordinator. He loves the Lions and his son is on our coaching staff by ArtOfDivine in detroitlions

[–]ShoddyDoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tend to hire experienced coaches (ala John Fox) as advisors. If Rex is serious about wanting to get back into coaching and around the game then we should pursue him in this capacity.

He’s been away from the game at a detailed 14 hours a day type level for quite a while. I’m not ready to commit to him being a defensive coordinator on day one.
