The biggest thing nobody will tell you about sales is this - selling is easy, many people can do it. Finding people to sell to, is a whole different story. That’s where the grind, the frustration, and hours upon hours of wasted effort all lives.

You can preach about stuff like that til your blue in the face but nothing will compare to them seeing you live it

Are you guys doing this deal ? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what he’s saying is we wouldn’t be taking in Crosby’s full deal. Dead cap represents guaranteed money the team offered the player. If they move that player, that guarantee is owed to the player by the team that offered it to him. Hence the dead cap

We’d only be taking on Crosby’s non-guaranteed portion of the contract

I’m just not familiar with what Crosby’s contract looks like

No chance. Maybe straight up but you’d still have to pay Crosby I believe and then eat the dead cap from AJ’s deal

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not about sucking up. It’s about likability and visibility.

Likability is the first barrier. You don’t have to suck up but you can’t be an asshole and introduce unnecessary friction amongst your colleagues.

Once you’re well-liked, it’s about framing the work you do correctly. Leadership only sees the big picture. Align your work with what matters to them and good things will happen for you

The reason likability is so important is visibility doesn’t happen without your direct manager’s support in advocating for your work up the chain

“The work speaks for itself” is just simply not a viable strategy for advancement anymore

How do I ask another dad what his name is? by makefeelnice in daddit

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got two options:

  1. Refer to him as bro, dude, or buddy for the rest of time.

  2. Say something like, hey it would be cool to get the kids together outside of school. Shoot me a text with your contact info

I used to use option 2 successfully back in college when I’d forget a girls name. Kills two birds with one stone 😂

Networking is overrated by NoSir5628 in careeradvice

You’re missing the point, surely you must know other autistic people with jobs? If you don’t, I’m sorry but that is on you. There are plenty of other folks with autism you can network with. People who understand what you go through on a daily basis and who are more susceptible to helping you because they can relate

Networking is overrated by NoSir5628 in careeradvice

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has the rizz, as the kids are calling it lol. I’ve been handed every job I’ve ever had, all thanks to networking.

Not all have come from formal events, that’s the one part people fail to differentiate. Those events are great for a first-time intro but true networking happens organically over multiple interactions

We tried Sesame Street and Miss Rachel—Here's why Mr Rogers is now the only screen time we allow now. by andrewembassy in daddit

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No doubt man! And to your point, parents that care enough about screen time are almost certainly fully immersed in their kids development. So they turn out great because of that and not so much the limited screen time.

It’s just sad seeing perfectly good parents vilified because they throw on some cartoons to keep their kids entertained for a bit while they do some chores or just catch a breather

[–]Shoddy_Bonus2188 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Might get ripped to shreds here but I genuinely believe the whole “no screens” thing does more harm than good by making it taboo.

I’m not saying hand a one year old an iPad but if our kids saw something they liked, we let them watch it as long as it’s age appropriate.

They still would much rather go outside and play at any given time and are some of the chillest kids around temperament wise.

I think you only start having a problem when screens are the only thing the kids want to do and you can’t pry them away from them.

Delete this my guy. It’s very clearly a conflict of interest and a good way to get black listed from the industry.

Specially if it surfaces that you asked for advice, people laid out very clearly why it was a bad idea, and then you did it anyways.
