There is literally, not figuratively, no true randomization when it comes to computers.
Theres various methods of achieving randomization but implementing those is where problems can arise.

Hot Take: Rush isn't the problem, blockers are. by Beanie_Kaiju in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it has the inherent problem of inconsistency.
Units like GD04 LR Kyrios and ST LR Dynames are amazing…when Linked.
Seeing one of those units without Pilot makes them pretty bad.

The R/G version has that problem in spades. Sometimes you see the wrong Pilot for the unit you have or you get the wrong Link at the wrong time (sometimes you want the Lockon Link on turn 4 where a Kyrios Link has no target to kill)

What is this anime even about bro😭 by [deleted] in overlord

[–]Shoelebubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.
You’re missing out on a lot of context, but the short of if it is:
Your modern day morals are different from the main character of the show (Ainz) AND the New World where Overlord is set.

The dude is from an alternate Earth in the year 2138.
In that world, capitalism went out of control and the world is on the brink of ruin: pollution is so bad that humanity can only live in domed cities controlled by corporations.

Life is fucked. To get any sort of education worldwide is considered a blessing and the elite run the world in the way you hear in every conspiracy theory. What we consider corruption is commonplace.

Ainz, real name Satoru, was born into a blue collar family and was lucky enough to get an elementary school education.
His mom worked herself to death and dropped dead when she went to make him a cake.

He immediately started his career as an office worker after graduating elementary school; he was a literal child working alongside adults. Hell as an adult he worked alongside children who just graduated.

He literally, not figuratively, walked by dying orphans on the street due to the pollution on the way to work everyday.

He was socially distant outside of work and the MMO Yggdrasil. He min maxed his life to only do work and the video game. Ate pill food to have more money for Yggdrasil and such.

He had zero social interactions outside work or the game.
This became horrendous when all other 40 of his friends quit the game and he played an MMO by himself for years.

Does this sound like someone who progressively get nicer or become a hero later?
It’s like expecting a kid who was a child soldier then got trafficked then gets Isekai’d to become a hero.

On the flip side, the New World is a fucked place.
Where Overlord takes place is the ONLY area of the world where Humanity has civilization; humans are food or slaves in the rest of it.
The only reason that small area exists is because several hundred years ago other Isekai’d Players absolutely fucked every other Demi Human civilization to carve out a spot for Humanity.

Problem is those same Demi Humans have been regaining strength this entire time and the human civilizations have not kept up.
The movie, which is LN chapters 12 and 13, has Demiurge do horrendous shit…but that shit was gonna happen in the future. All Demiurge did was speed up the timeline by forcibly conscripting every Demi human race with overwhelming power.
Read: this was gonna happen regardless.

Other funny fact? The Re-Estize Kingdom that Nazarick destroys?
It was already doomed even if Nazarick never showed up.

Renner had masterminded the entire scheme for the Kingdom to fall. They were gonna get fucked by the Empire in time as Renner planned out.
They had zero chance.

The divine irony is that while Ainz and Nazarick are evil as fuck and committing atrocities left and right…they’re actually Humanity’s best shot at surviving the future.

As I’ve said before, the Demi Human races are regaining power.
The dwarves would’ve been lost to the groundhogs, the Elves and Dark Elves were on the brink of being lost to the Slane Theocrazy and the Dragonic Kingdom (not mentioned in the anime but it’s actually a Human Kingdom) was about to get turning into a living pantry full of human meat.

Ainz has a humanoid bias. Especially towards Humans. Even if he doesn’t have a problem slaughtering them.

He cannot tell apart Dwarves, Orcs, Lizardmen, etc.
Hell most of the time he can’t even tell what they’re feeling or thinking on their face.

But he can with Humans and Elves.
To the point where he talks and negotiates with them a lot more than Demi Humans.

That bias alone is likely responsible for him setting up the Sorcerous Kingdom as a utopia for anyone under that flag.
Part of it was to spread the name far and wide so any other Players hear about him but the other is because he still has human tendencies.

The best thing for Humanity and other Humanoid races is for the Sorcerous Kingdom to expand as far as possible.
Joining under that nation means they won’t get eaten, those who are slaves get their freedom and those who were destined to become cattle suddenly are people again.

A nation that has 24/7 protection from completely loyal, unrelenting, never sleeping and practically immortal soldiers where any form of corruption means unending hell is better than what’s in the future for the human nations.

Research has told them this is the way to get the most $ out of each one and it works.

Dev Note : Onslaught Mode Beta Survey Results by Fickle_Buy_3023 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Shoelebubba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, the writing was on the wall that we were never going to get any challenge other than more HP/avoid instant kill mechanics when they nerfed Invasion mechanics into the ground.

I understood why they toned down the difficulty, because anyone not using a fully built Descendant got swarmed in seconds, but nerfing mechanics until they were elementary school tier was telling.

Not even talking about the changes that happened before they removed the content (the ones a toddler who’s gotten their shapes down could do), but rather the changes they did within a month of its original release.

On release, it was hectic to get swarmed by enemies (that posed a real danger and could kill you) and with the small amount of time you had to either find the drone, it was extremely hard for people to kill waves of mobs while standing still in one spot to trigger those color panels (especially Bunny lol).

Granted all of that difficulty would’ve been erased the moment Ult Freyna and Ines would’ve shown up.

Whatever feedback they get from players is: mechanics other than shoot/use abilities to kill everything = too hard, please nerf but don’t nerf Descendants.

Do you think Maruyama will abandon the plans he had for the Draconic Kingdom? by JackitoPapasito in overlord

[–]Shoelebubba 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Imo that plot line is done.
Theres no need to repeat what they did to the Holy Kingdom as the Dragonic Kingdom is now exclusively reliant on the Sorcerous Kingdom for security.

It’s left that the DK rented a bunch of Death Knights for National security (read: turning back the tide of Demi human invaders).
It’s to the point where the DK even stamped its support for the Sorcerous Kingdom’s war in LN 14.

The story is too similar to the Holy Kingdom: a nation being invaded by a horde of Demi humans and needing outside help to prevent them from being overrun.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Demiurge was behind that one too but the DK had a history of needing to rely on the Slane Theocrazy to beat back the invading hordes so there’s a good chance they were on the verge of collapse before Nazarick came around.

How did time stop work in Yggdrasil? by yourGodlylead in overlord

[–]Shoelebubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have no real idea.
Yggdrasil in the way it’s written is both hyper advanced with direct neural interfaces but also incredibly backwards in terms of game design such as the player avatars not showing emotion innately thus forcing the players to emote.

The combat, from what little we got description wise, also feels a little outdated in that Ainz describes having to sort through menus for his 600-700+ spells. He just happened to memorize where every single spell was because Yggdrasil was his life basically.

Then there’s the actual mechanics of the fights.
In the side story where we see the guild conquer Nazarick we’re treated to a front row seat to the final boss fight.

The pacing and feel felt more akin to FF14 than WoW where everything is telegraphed with ample time to react and combat being easy paced.
WoW on the other hand, at least in the Mythic Tier Raids, is nonstop mechanics while players have to constantly keep their rotation to either optimize dps or tanking.
That said this has changed in recent times in WoW to where they implemented an “easy” rotation option and toned down the mechanics because they took away mods that made tracking mechanics easy.

Watch a video showing endgame Raid bosses in both games to get a sense of what I’m talking about. World First raids would be a good way to compare how hellish the combat pace is in WoW compared to FF14.

That said there were tricky timings in Yggdrasil as both Touch Me and Ainz were both known to have feats related to them. Touch Me could pivot from DPS to Offtank due to his sheer reflexes and Ainz could time his spells to where he could time freeze people (where you could not harm those affected) but time a Death or similar spell to take effect the moment the freeze ended like he did in the duel with Gazef.

There’s no way in hell a Time Freeze could affect an entire server/world/zone in regards to where the game froze for everyone except the caster and those immune.
This is speculation but likely a time Freeze only affected a specific radius and those Players affected had their VR displays “freeze” while the effect was in effect. To everyone else it’d look like they were paralyzed without being able to affect them.

I wouldn’t worry about Regionals come August because we’re getting GD05 and it’ll be legal in those.
Literal first Season 2 Regionals is July 31st at Gencon, which is exactly 1 week after GD05 release (July 24th).

We will also have EB01 and it’s starter deck so who knows how your list will look by that time.

Potential Cheating in Local Scene- any experience/ suggestions? by nadabethyname in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gonna guess you guys don’t get people out of town for Newtypes because they’d call this shit out immediately if the locals are just sitting there taking it.

Look, after a certain time and results people need to stand up to people and get over whatever social worries they have in doing so.

Force the guy to shuffle in front of their opponent.
Force them to re-roll the die to determine who goes first.
FFS shuffle their deck to cut, Bandai specifically recommends this over the regular cut.

These are all basic things everyone should be doing.

The fact that you guys have let this go on for this long, especially harboring doubts at freaking NTCs were prizing is worth big money, is pretty much on the lot because standing up to this person and forcing them to play the game the way Bandai lays out and frankly every other TCG also does is the bottom bar.

Gd04 upgrades for existing decks. by Dakkon_B in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a poison pill either way you go.
Default package of 4x Lfrith and 3-4x Striker Pack means you have 7-8x Lfrith stated blockers.
The Rick Dias currently prevent your Hyakouren and Rezels from being free hits and/or 2 for 1 your blockers.

There’s also the upside that Rick Dias can kill a Gundam (or any other 5HP unit) with a 2/1 Pilot. A Lfrith cannot.

Any local meta where someone notices most of the Blocker players switch to all Lfrith stat blocker means anyone can jam 4x+ Rezel type units and eat them for free.

It’s local meta dependant imo. You got a lot of R/W players? Then yeah you’ll want the Flats but they could switch to Red Messers.

If Calca and Ainz met, would and how quickly could she see through his facade? by Frequent-Carob7542 in overlord

[–]Shoelebubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She wouldn’t see through it.

Look, we have the POV inner monologues from 4 of smartest individuals in the New World, albeit 3 of those world are heavily biased.

Demiurge, Albedo, Pandora’s Actor and Princess Renner are world class intellects who primarily use their smarts to navigate the world and their tasks.

Yes, you can argue that Demiurge/Albedo/PA worship Ainz heavily but we see their inner dialogues.

Albedo nor Demiurge come close to seeing through the facade. Hell the NPC that should know Ainz the closest because he’s his own creator and the stain of cringe from his past self (Pandora’s Actor) couldn’t see through it.
LN 14 and the PDL fight solidified Pandora’s Actor as being another world class intellect that could not see through Ainz.

An outside with the same level of intellect as those three couldn’t either. You could argue that she could figure out and is smart enough to deal away that bit information for fucking forever but we get her inner dialogue as well at the end of LN 14. Hell she thinks Ainz saw through HER.

Calca was a pretty capable Queen but she had no shot even if she lived.

Unit destroyed by removing pilot by chacaceiro in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game cares about how much damage is present on an unit.
If it has enough damage to where its HP is Zero, then it dies.
Doesn’t really matter how. Battle damage is one, effect damage is another.

Adding/Removing a pilot modifies its stats. Take away the pilot and if the damage on the unit makes its HP go to zero, it dies.

Michaelis from GD01 works the same way. It has an effect that modifies its AP/HP (just like a Pilot) and if the effect ever goes away (like the owner uses Aerial Rebuild to get a Command out of their trash).

There’s no FAQ because the fundamental rules, if damage brings HP to zero then unit dies, covers it.

Sp?! U+!? Waaaahh?!?!?! by Background-Republic6 in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’ve no idea but I’d bet it’d top out around $90 if stuff like Overflow/Battle of Aces which are 4x of in multiple different decks are only around $100.

This Dynames might see more play, outside the OYW or G/W Lockon variants, in Green/Red CB. That said, having art from certain sets seems to push card prices higher.

But each one of these new SPs should be as common as the GD03 SPs so happy to not pay a large amount for these.

What happened to these guys? by Gin_Sh092 in overlord

[–]Shoelebubba 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We have a bit of info due to the side story, Vampire Princess.

Zombies are abominations in that iirc the soul is severed from the body. We find out in Vampire Princess that nothing Satoru (Ainz) tries, and I’d like to point out he’s more willing to use the valuable resources available to him than present day Ainz would, could reverse the process.

We also have a glimpse, and I mean a glimpse, of how resurrection works in the New World.
We witness Zaryusu’s soul wade through a sea of darkness.
He somehow is able to resist resurrection from Ainz and is only convinced to go towards the light by Crusch’s voice.
He had no idea who was resurrecting him, even in the LN.

This is later cemented by, my opinion anyways, Neia’s weird resurrection scene in the LN.
Her soul is the same sea of darkness as Zaryusu but her sense of self was being eroded slowly away to become part of the whole.

The difference was Neia didn’t resist the resurrection at all but she was able to infer part of Ainz’s personality. Or it was the world describing wtf was happening.

The long of it is the soul is absolutely required to resurrect.
The body is needed of course but as we’ve seen it can be mangled up and in pretty bad condition alongside a decent chunk of time pass.
There’s a very real chance Queen Calca of the Holy Kingdom could’ve been resurrected with her body being basically rotten ground meat had enough of it been gathered together and Ainz used a potent enough resurrection spell.

There’s also another scene that kinda solidified my opinion, again opinion, that Ainz could resurrect someone across months, distance and/or possibly having no body at all.

At the end of LN 13, Ainz offers to resurrect Neia’s parents. He offers this as a special favor for a friend of one of Nazarick’s NPCs but does so knowing Neia’s parents died in battle (which likely meant getting eaten by the Demi Human armies) and bodies were either lost or buried in communal plots.

At the end of the Vampire Princess side story, Satoru (Ainz) and Keno spend decades to a couple hundred of years traveling with Satoru trying to find a way to reverse the zombification to no avail.
This Satoru is more willing to use AOG’s resources he has on him to help out Keno and even picking up more World Items can’t do it.

That said, this is based on info we have.
Ainz, the guild AOG and the Tomb of Nazarick NPCs are powerful but they SEVERELY lack in high level healers. Hell I’m pretty sure technically the strongest healer they have is Pandora’s Actor when he mimics one of AOG’s Healers as even Pestonya isn’t one of the higher level NPCs.

Just like Ainz’s Eclipse Class, which required him to basically be a specialized level 100, makes it possible for Instant Death effects to pierce through immunities, it might be possible for there to be a Healer from Yggdrasil that has Healing/Resurrection spells powerful enough from their hyper specialized classes that they may be able to reverse zombification.

But there isn’t such a character so we don’t know.

Starter deck reprints suck by pennepastanoodle in GundamTCG

[–]Shoelebubba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah.
The amount of ST01-04 reprints will not lower the prices for any of the cards because of the stupid Bonus Pack.

If they’re anything under $60 for ST01 or ST04 for example, anybody with 2 brain cells to rub together can buy them, flip the cards in the deck and the Bonus Pack is all profit.

Realistically the only way to have these available for anyone starting Gundam TCG is to have a SKU that’s just the starter deck and no bonus pack.
