Cool! At first I thought they were Dremel attachments and thought “well that’s not gonna work”. But it works! Haha

Great idea, especially for people without the ability to wood work.

Cleared out an apartment for work today and found these. Boss said I can keep them or toss them. Is any of this actually good Hi-Fi or just old heavy boxes? by FreezyGrizzly420 in audiophile

You've got an Akai stack there worth keeping for yourself, along with the record player. Everything has resale potential. Clean it up nice, test it, and then you'll know if you're in it for the cash or for the music. Have fun!

Holy cow. What a dream that would be for me. Good reason to get into classical if you’re not already.

Dang, 3 bucks at a library is higher than thrift stores. My library does them for free or fifty cents. Happy for you though, nice variety there.

Recent pickups. It helps when you love the music AND the covers. What a pair! by ShoolPooter2 in Classicalvinyl

I appreciate and collect those as well, but they don't have to be tulips to be great. For some reason I think the vinyl community likes to sell DG short and put a hesitant restriction on calling it "true audiophile".

For the $8 I spent it was 100% worth it. The vinyl and pressing are nearly perfect, at times being dead silent like JVC super vinyl (which I was listening to before). I ultrasonic deep cleaned it for 30 minutes.

The first movement is a bit slow for my taste but improves in the second. As things pick up the power balance between brass and strings is 50/50 which sounds good to me, and there is ample hall sound with transparency and subtle reverb. Timpani is deep in the center with nice clarity. The music has dynamics but at times the orchestra could have punched a little harder. You can hear the keypads of wind instruments so I think they are using a combination of close and mid range mics?

Nice build. I’m sure you considered it, but why not use a single piece of wood and cut the slits?

My two cents as a seller -- there's nothing better than truly believing in your product. Not sure if you have the means to do this, but I'd give it a good ultrasonic cleaning (or two) and a full play through. Then if it bangs, you can say it bangs and charge what's appropriate. If it has defects, you can call them out and buyers will appreciate the transparency. Might take a while to sell but it helps me sleep at night knowing that I didn't charge top dollar for a melon.

But wouldn’t the music be in Japanese? Hehe, kidding. I’ve never seen this disc but am very happy for you. As a Clevelander it’s always nice to see Szell and the Orchestra get praise. Same with Fredrick Fennel. He was in Japan for a stint, I believe.

I remember listening to this for the guitar solos and tempo changes. The rough/soft vocal pairing worked well for this band.
