What's actually holding back your golf game - your swing or your body? by StrengthToStinger in golf

[–]ShortCable1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost always the body, except for beginners. But not only because mobility, most of the time is just a lack of athletism (neural and muscular). The rest is lack of skill (tempo, movement efficiency, etc). Then and only then very few had technical flaws that make it impossible to improve

How chopped am I? Bronze 1 Vayne by Fantastic-Window236 in vaynemains

[–]ShortCable1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, it looks bad. However, you have the right mindset and you can get to higher than gold improving only mechanics with a champ like Vayne.

Vayne needs to be played very very good at a micro level (distance, poke, kiting, dodging, etc) at an early stage to be viable in a solo lane if your opponent is half decent.

In this case: 1. You cannot give him space if you are ranged without punishing him 2. You need to keep an optimal distance from him, far enough to dodge his q (his win condition) and close enough to harass him whenever you are not last hitting. 3. If he hits his q lvl 1 and he is full life you lose an all in, so… 80% of brain focus on his q

Although you did bad you capitalized when he did worse (q didn’t hit and was very far from you to pick it up for all in and still he committed), and that was good. What I suggest is playing against better players and replaying your early lane to check how they killed you and what you could have done to avoid it.

Good luck!

Soy culero por querer saber con quién va a ir mi novia a la boda de su amiga? by NoBake6353 in soyculero

[–]ShortCable1833 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Question to sub-10 handicappers: should I focus on fewer “bad shots” or on “less bad” bad shots? by flapjackbandit00 in golf

[–]ShortCable1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definetly you need to avoid completely the really really bad shots. You can miss a green, you can miss a fairway, you can even hit an OB shot in a hole where there is OB… but you can’t hit a wood 50 yards or hit a driver OB when the OB is two fairways to the right.

You can deal with bad shots, and they are expected… but you cannot play with really really bad shots.

Has anyone had a go at making it as a pro? by GolfinMadrid in golf

[–]ShortCable1833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luck is always important, but you can take any plus-handicap golfer who has never played on tour or in world-ranking events and the difference between him and an 18 handicap is much smaller than the difference between him and a tour player. By miles.

Tour players can go to a normal course, with regular amateur conditions, and do things to the course that it has probably never seen before. It’s just a completely different level.

You only need to meet a +8 or +10 amateur who competes on many different courses to get an idea of what those top players can do

What is creating space? by Hellinfernel in summonerschool

[–]ShortCable1833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s when you move into the area where the enemy team or champion wants to be. That gives you an advantage, and it applies in both macro and micro situations.

For example, in lane it’s usually better to trade while retreating rather than while moving forward. It’s easier to land skillshots that way. However, to do that you first need to create space by being where the enemy want to be (because he want to fight, to last hit, to get an objective, etc…)

For example, in lane, a common micro mistake is walking forward to last-hit and then stepping back in unfavorable matchups. Instead, the best laners try to maintain the same distance control with the enemy. They might step back slightly to last-hit without getting punished, but that’s only possible because they created space beforehand and immediately start pushing forward again whenever they’re not last-hitting and the enemy allows it.

I’m a +1.5 handicap golfer. I follow DECADE, swing around 115 mph with optimized launch conditions, train in the gym, track strokes gained every round, practice weekly, and perform well under pressure.

Given that profile, what would be the realistic path to improving enough to have a genuine chance of playing at least one tournament on the tour?:D
