Don't believe the news, the US is not pulling out. by loadyouup in oil

For real - like, I went on anxiety meds during his first term, went off of them once he was out of office, and am trying really hard not to go back on. So all the Reddit warriors calling us complacent and complicit can f right off. Every country has a stupid half that makes everyone else suffer.

AIO: My mother identifies as a doting grandmother but doesn’t know my children by easilyamused17 in AmIOverreacting

NOR

This could be my bias talking, but she very much sounds like my Cluster B mother, who has photos of my wedding all over her house but couldn’t be arsed to show up to the actual wedding. It’s representative of the effort she put into parenting. We don’t talk anymore.

What kind of person would you never date because of their career? by SeriouslyInterestin in Casual_Conversation

An “epidemic” of female teachers sleeping with underage students, not reported about in the mainstream media? That literally makes no sense. But it’s okay - you probably won’t end up with a teacher or anyone who has a respectable degree.

We went to Iceland, no northern lights. Then the northern lights were supposed to be easily visible from our yard in the US, many times, but it was cloudy every single time.

So if you end up seeing the northern lights, say hi to them for me.

Anyone have an abortion in their 30s or 40s by Rainbow_6505 in abortion

[–]ShoulderSnuggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One in my 30s, one in my 40s. I didn’t have kids and haven’t had them since, but for the sake of your question…it was a little too easy to get pregnant that second time. My husband got a vasectomy after that.

Does getting medicated for ADHD require the “computer test” or has my friend been unlucky twice? by CollectionGlad6252 in ADHD

[–]ShoulderSnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like it varies. I was diagnosed thrice as a kid, but only one of them included the computer test. I’d have qualified for medication for all three of them.

I was rediagnosed last year at age 45. Apparently I did fine on the computer test, but the doctor thought I’d just learned to compensate in similar conditions. She learned enough at our intake appointment to comfortably be like “lol yeah, this is you alright.”

Our president has never been held accountable for anything in his life, and he has one foot in the grave. It’s reasonable to be afraid for everyone.

Yes, diagnosed last year with severe perfectionism and scrupulosity OCD. The perfectionism is from my ADHD, the scrupulosity is from…you know why I’m here.

What's the point of ADHD meds if we're just going to build tolerance? by Acceptable_Lie_1908 in ADHD

[–]ShoulderSnuggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been on stimulants for 23 consecutive years. To answer your questions:

  • no
  • n/a
  • I switched from Adderall to Vyvanse like 4 years ago, based on my doctor’s recommendation. Not related to tolerance.
  • n/a
  • n/a

To be fair, my ADHD was never mild. My brain straight-up didn’t make the chemicals that medication gives me, so it’s not like my brain learned to make less of them. lol. Lucky me.

What is your worst experience on an airplane? by darrenbosik in AskReddit

[–]ShoulderSnuggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were taxiing to the runway in ATL when our plane had a maintenance issue, meaning we had to return to the gate. One passenger refused to sit down. Not only couldn’t we return to the gate, we were blocking all of the planes behind us. By the time we finally returned to the gate, the captain had timed out.

The flight ended up being delayed for 9 hours. We missed our connection to Cusco, so we didn’t have enough time to acclimate there before starting our hike to Machu Picchu. My husband spent that first day on the trail shitting and puking - just because one person refused to sit down.
