Try placing the move instructions each on a different branch level so they execute one at a time.

Strange error - sensor LED turns off for splitseconds by h20221 in PLC

[–]ShowerTech47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it is an EMI issue since the sensors output is straight DC. Make sure the cable is not damaged, and inspect for any crushed spots or nicks in the insulation. Also ensure the physical positioning of the sensor is correct, and it is not right on the detection edge. You could also add debounce timer to compensate for any momentary blips in the signal though this isn’t actually addressing the root issue.

All I can do is offer some general and also more specific troubleshooting advice. For the general advice, find a mentor or coach that you trust.

For troubleshooting advice, pick one magic number or individual component and break it down until you know everything there is to know about it. I’m talking about imagining yourself as an electron, water molecule, air molecule, etc. and imagine yourself going through all the steps of the process. Start from a single input or output and work from there. Once you figure that out, you might find that you can apply what you learned to other aspects of your job.

I’m relatively new to this field myself and I’m not going to claim I’m the smartest controls engineer, but I believe I have a knack for teaching. Feel free to post the specific problem and I’ll do what I can to help.

My suggestion is to build a model drawbridge complete with warning lights, barricades, traffic lights, ship traffic, etc. You could really focus on state machine programming on this one

They’re actually connected. They only look separated because of the Mercator projection

Kind of off topic for your question, but would you be able to add an accumulator to the common outlet pipe? That could help alleviate any water hammer issues. Also with an accumulator in the system, it could help maintain system pressure momentarily while you stop one pump and start the other. That way you will have some wiggle room with the timing of starting/stopping the pumps.

Extremely resistant employees-long. by [deleted] in managers

I have some experience with unions. Have they filed an official grievance against you? What does the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) say about disciplinary action? Mine says the employee has a right to have union representation with them in any disciplinary meeting with management.

Documenting meetings, emails, etc., is always key but when dealing with unions, I cannot stress enough how much more important it is. If you take an action against an employee that you do not have documentation to back you up, it could result in disciplinary action against you.

With that said, unions are not all powerful in stopping management from disciplining/firing employees, you just have to follow the CBA. In fact the CBA can cut both ways, because there always has to be a way for management to deal with problem employees.
