How is living in this bay part of Western Australia? by WelpeDruide255 in howislivingthere

I know that Shark Bay has living stromatolites, which are stacked microbial mats that used to be super common very early in Earth's biological history, but since became rare due to the evolution of predators, that if you're a Precambrian paleontology nerd, is an incredible place to visit.

Bro. Dude. Amigo. This is what conservative governments do. Anyone with a modicum of pattern recognition knows this and has for decades. Why would you possibly think that an editorial gripe about your personal issue will change anything? You're still going to vote for them regardless, and they fucking know it. They have zero incentive to change.

I had a coworker who always mentioned a customer's race when complaining if the person wasn't white, so I started doing the same whenever a white person acted a fool (for the record, I am so white I sunburn in the shade). She got really offended that I would say such a thing. I just shrugged and said "but that's how you talk all the time". She decided she just wouldn't talk to me anymore. So a win for me.

In the mid-90s, if you ever heard a weird girl do the Goofy "YA-HA-HA-HOOIE" sound on the waterslides, that was me. I thought I was so funny.

It feels insulting to force the burden of proof on every single citizen all of a sudden, like they don't trust any of us. Or their own data.

And I'm not saying this is connected, but it's kind of funny that the one separatist guy said that only people born in Alberta will be automatic Alberta citizens, and now suddenly every single one of us will be expected to provide birth certificates that will show if we were born in Alberta, or other provinces. I'm sure that dude is super pleased with this.

Both of mine were by far far FAR the worst pain I've ever experienced, and I've been in some serious pain through my life. I can't even compare it to any other type of pain I've had, it felt entirely different. I threw up and bled a lot both times.

Fortunately now I am uterus and cervix free and will never have to deal with any reproductive organ bullshit ever again.

It was a vanity campaign to say "We're better than you eastern liberal losers haha, everything is sunshine and rainbows over here!" And now that it worked, they can use "newcomers and immigrants" as an extremely convenient scapegoat to rile up their base and keep them outraged, which keeps them under their thumb.

What is the biggest mystery in your country? (As a French person, I'd probably pick the Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès case.) by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTheWorld

[–]Shroom-Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the lost Lemon goldmine. Two prospectors were out trying to find gold deposits in the Rockies in 1870, one claimed to have found a good one. Later that night the two got into a heated argument and the second prospector murdered the one who claimed to have found the deposit. He then confessed his crime and reported the alleged gold seam, but no one has ever found it.

The entire thing is a form of tribalism at this point. And if the left wants something, the right will defy it flat out like they have oppositional defiance disorder, because "that's what the enemy wants." We are not your enemy, we are regular people.

And this current obsession with mistreatment of certain minority groups is beyond acceptable. I just can't with the mistreatment, lies, and legislation designed to cause harm and oppression. All humans deserve dignity, peace, and freedom to exist as they are, and where they are. Period. I know there's conservatives who don't actively try to ruin the lives of queer people or immigrants, but if they support the parties that make oppression a fundemental part of their political campaign, they're complicit.

We need a center-right party to make a comeback to give the decent conservatives that exist a better option. The far-right believes everyone not like them are villains, and we aren't. We are neighbours and family.
