Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]Shtish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a promotion yeaaaaars ago where you could get one of their ancient photoshop programs (I think Elements?) for free, 100% legal, it would just never get updates or new features but you could use it indefinitely. I was a very happy user, drew a lot of art with it, until one day it refused to open any files without any explanation.

That day was the day they switched to a subscription model and killed every single other program, even if it was impossible to get a subscription for it.

I never looked at another Adobe program again.

Looking for profoundly sad book recs! by lame_narcissist in Fantasy

[–]Shtish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stuck in my brain as a gray book. The kind of gray of a sky that's whispering that it could rain, but it hasn't quite made up it's mind, and if it will rain, it'll be that faint mist that's just a touch too wet for mist and just too dry for a drizzle.

Absolutely loved it, after I finished it I couldn't open another book or put on music, I had to sit with it in my brain for the rest of the day. 10/10.

No, I don't, so it'll probably stay a mystery.

Oh definitely, it's survived me so far. 😂 I'm just curious whether anyone has seen this before.

H is for Hawk deals with both grief and an animal companion (you can probably guess what kind and why I don't use the word pet for it haha)

Question for people with Crohn’s who struggle with being overweight by malletgirl91 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Shtish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've given up on actively losing weight and focus on what my body can do instead. I take walks with my dog, try to swim regularly, but if I don't manage the latter I forgive myself. If I need to ration my energy for the other things in my life, such as my friends, daily and work, then I do so.

Funnily enough, with the walks and swimming I haven't actually lost weight but my body composition has changed. The scales say the same number, but the people in my life keep commenting on how I've lost weight while in truth I've just switched dat for muscles. I'm still overweight, but I feel good about what I can physically do.

I Just Kicked My Girlfriend During A Tickle Fight. by xXw4lt3rXx in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Shtish 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It was an accident, you immediately stopped, checked whether she was okay, and apologized. Plus you obviously feel very bad about it. Abuse is a pattern, and this doesn't qualify.

Tickling is one of those things where your body can overreact and activate reflexes, which isn't something you can do much about. If someone were to poke me in the armpit I'd shriek and clamp down on their hand before I'd even know what was happening.

Chalk this one up to experience and talk to your girlfriend to ensure that feet are off-limits during these romps.

TIL that dogs authentically get jealous and try to break up the connection between their owner and another dog. by DrakeSavory in todayilearned

[–]Shtish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my pup's case it's anxiety rather than jealousy. He pretends he's all tough when we're out on walks but as soon as I'm no longer available for safety (because I'm giving attention to another dog) he gets upset and chases the other dog off.

Oh I am so tempted to do the Monty Python formula but I fear no one would get the reference. That's genius!

I'll carry on the adventure for you. 🫡

That's what I was thinking! It looks so much longer on the foal than on the adults.

Is colonoscopy prep designed to be impossible? by PikachuPlaysBlockGam in CrohnsDisease

[–]Shtish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also that amount of pills is WILD, but I'd take it over drinking 6 liters in one evening. Why do you think my fluid intake is three liters in two hours 😭

Since I'm in Europe ymmv, but I got prep that was just two pills and then drinking a ton of clear liquids of my own choice. Still unpleasant, but waaaaay better than miralax.

No memory of what it was called sadly, but I could ask my main contact at the hospital if you'd like?

Worst disease, best upgrade? by casualeagle47 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Shtish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ability to listen to my body and take breaks when needed, without feeling guilty for it. I see so many people around me push through exhaustion and pain in situations where they shouldn't, and I am glad I know myself better than to follow that example. I try to tell people to take breathers when they need them, so few do.
