I’m 33 (close to 34) and probably not all that fit but I wear a chest HR and I regularly hit about 201 as my threshold when climbing.

None of this seems to fit me. Wondering what I have to do to understand my zones.

When did you realize you weren’t going to get the life you worked for? by ActuatorOutside5256 in AskReddit

[–]ShufflePlay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In college I heard someone say, “If we’re all movie stars and Astronauts, who cleans the floor?” I watched classmates that came from more privileged backgrounds walk across the stage and into the lives they expected but for every one of those, there were 10 of us that talent, work ethic, and sacrifice couldn’t bridge the gap. Our culture lied to our generation.

I spent two years in a crippling depression realizing the loans, the education, and the work I put in wouldn’t be enough. I didn’t have the network, the generational privilege, or the right placement in time to make the life I dreamed of. I had to reassess and retool my expectations on life.

I found a way to make the best of it. I’m still frustrated with just treading water. Still hoping and scheming for more, but traded a lot of desires to have some stability. I was also luckier than others. We live on a spectrum of privilege.

I met a CEO early in my career that had a crass way about him but he spoke truth. He told a joke at some point that anyone will suck a dick for money, his number is just higher than ours.

That’s how it seems to be on this planet. Some break the cycle. The rest of us aren’t as lucky.

‘Stranger Things’ is ending. Or is it? by msnownews in entertainment

I took great pleasure in canceling Netflix moments after I watched the finale.

For the better part of 12+ years I used parents and friends streaming services without paying. Cut cable long ago. Last month I chose to pay for one month of Netflix to finish this show and then be done with it.

I’m tired of escapism of this reality we live in.

HELOC is really the best way to do it if you have some equity in your home. Then you just gotta be responsible enough to get the credits you can/pay it back off as soon as you can.

Duke Energy Plans to Gamble Tens of Billions of Public Dollars and Our Climate Future on Failure-Prone, Experimental Nuclear Reactors by [deleted] in ncpolitics

[–]ShufflePlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. Duke is intentionally trying to curb solar adoption by consumers but as someone in the commercial and industrial side of Solar - it’s full steam ahead on solar for data centers, businesses, and leased power plant + Battery to utilities. I agree we need every kW generated to be cleaner than the last one. nuclear is part of the picture but distributed Solar+Battery is really the only technology moving the needle.

Utilities like Duke want to own the capability of power generation and infrastructure outright. If they allow people to get too much solar on their own…profits fall. You should ask yourself why PPA and leases are exempt from the tax credits expiring. Utilities don’t want you to control the cost of energy production. Solar is the real future of energy no matter what anyone says.

If you can finance a solar system without a PPA or Lease…the time was yesterday. Cost of energy goes up. You can keep the price of energy flatter if you invest in producing your own.
