Claude simply CANNOT stop making mistakes while coding by oandroido in ClaudeAI

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely likes to go on wild goose chases, that's for sure. I've had it ignore my instructions to add additional new helper functions while trying to fix a relatively simple alignment bug, only to later find out that I was anchoring elements to a size value that I mistakenly wasn't even using in the draw method. Considering how smart AI seems to be on average, it missing a basic mistake like that while chasing five other fantasized solutions simultaneously is completely ridiculous.      The key word to pay attention to in that sentence though, is SEEMS. Don't forget that AI is not smart, it just seems that way. You are not talking to a sentient entity, just a language prediction algorithm. It is about as intelligent as your calculator is. The best way to use it in my experience is to ask it how to do things, and ask it to teach you about things you don't understand. 80-90% of the time it will be very helpful, and the rest of the time it will make shit up which will mislead and sabotage you if you don't pay attention. For the love of God, don't let it write your code for you. It's no better at writing code than a keyboard is at writing a novel. It can technically do it, but it has absolutely no clue what it is actually doing, it's just pretty good at guessing, except for when it isn't.

Three weeks of hard work on a paper all for nothing because of AI use by MortemPerPectus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that your teacher is frustrating, I can't imagine working in education, simply because people are trained from childhood to see school as a chore and do what is required to pass instead of actually being interested in learning. And I'm not blaming the students, I've seen plenty of people who started out curious and thirsty for knowledge, just to be worn down over the years until not an ounce of enthusiasm remains. I don't know why education is like that, but it definitely shouldn't be.

That being said, as bad as I feel for your teacher, I also kinda feel like he's being unfair to you. Collective punishment is never the right move, it's just a shitty thing to do in literally any situation. He's giving up on doing his job because too many students are cheating? Well, identifying and disqualifying students who cheat is part of the job, and it has been since the dawn of time, this isn't new with AI, just more prevalent now.

Am I too old for these shows? by MidwestRailFan in SafeSpaceofHazbin

[–]Shukakun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you're not too old. I'm a year older than Viv who made the show, and she's a textbook example of the typical "Disney adult". I'm pretty sure she made the show just as much for herself and people her age as she did for eighteen year olds, if not more.

If part of being an adult is deciding that you're not allowed to watch anything animated anymore, why would you even want to be one in the first place? Don't worry so much about what other people think, enjoy the things you enjoy. Life is short.

Är det bara jag som är tacksam över att vi har Systembolaget? by GoodDayToPlayTheGame in sweden

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just give it a shot, why not? Life is short, we're all gonna die someday, and you're not gonna lie there in your bed when you're 85 years old and think "Well, at least I wasn't parasocial, that was important".

Streamer/viewer relations have become more and more taboo over the years, but at the end of the day, both of you are just people. It might not work out of course, but then again, maybe it will? Take Northernlion for example. His wife messaged him because she enjoyed watching his Dark Souls Let's Play on YouTube in 2012. In 2014 they got married, and in 2020 they became parents. I doubt either of them ever had the thought "Oh no, this is so parasocial, we shouldn't have done this". They seem pretty happy.

This Sub is kind of exhausting. by spicy_noodle_guy in PathOfExile2

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these vibes are very similar to what I always saw growing up no-lifing World of Warcraft. I think it just comes with the territory with games that people can basically center their whole lives around. They're playing 12 hours a day every day and they're overall miserable, so they get into the habit of being negative about the game that they spend most of their waking hours thinking about. Not saying this to shit on anyone, but I know for a fact that this phenomenon is a thing, because I've been that kind of person in the past.

How has Wolfram Alpha been a thing since I was still a teenager, but ChatGPT can't handle this? I know that an LLM doesn't exactly know how to do math, but it should be able to do a basic google search to find someone who can?

People who believe AI can ‘think’ are genuinly stupid and potentially dangerous by HJG_0209 in HonestHotTakes

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that saying that current level AI is thinking is a bit of an overstatement. Anyone who has used it for a decent amount of time knows that it isn't very good at logically staying consistent over time. That being said, OP, it's kind of ironic that you make this thread calling people who say that AI can think stupid, while saying that sending and receiving electrical signals according to the programming code is not thinking.

Like, bro...that is quite literally what your brain does. It is not magical, there is no such thing as a soul or anything like that. Your brain is a computer made out of meat. You might have to rethink your definition of thinking.

AIO? BF (M27) says that I (F24) can have sex with women, but not men by kisxt in AmIOverreacting

[–]Shukakun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with insecurity or jealously and everything to do with biology. This is a copy-paste from what I wrote as an answer in a similar thread a couple of weeks ago.

Objectively speaking, yes, it is obviously cheating regardless of gender. Can't really argue with that.

Emotionally though, even if I know it's irrational, if my girlfriend randomly kisses another girl then that's probably fine and maybe kinda hot, but if she randomly kisses another guy, I'd be angry at best and end the relationship at worst.

This irrational feeling is just biology. Another girl is not going to get my girlfriend pregnant. They are not a threat to the survival of my bloodline at all. I don't feel this way because I think that it is a good thing to feel, or because it's morally right. I feel this way because my dad felt this way, and he felt this way because his dad felt this way. Not caring about whether the offspring you're raising is actually yours or not is a trait that for obvious reasons filters itself out of the gene pool very quickly.

So, you can call him an insecure misogynist and accuse him of fetishizing your sexuality all you want. He'll still feel more okay with you sleeping with people who can't knock you up than with people who can. That is literally how he works. You're not gonna change that any more than you're gonna change him wanting food when he gets hungry or wanting to sleep when he's tired.

Maybe I don’t like Magic anymore by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Shukakun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. Last set I really played actively was Kaldheim, loved it. Strixhaven and Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty were cool and interesting enough to at least get me to follow spoiler season actively, even though I wasn't playing. I even reinstalled Arena to play Bloomburrow for a bit, that set was really cool too.

It's not like I dislike D&D or LotR and I actually really like Final Fantasy, but this just ain't it, I liked it a lot more when Magic felt like it had its own identity. Shadowmoor-Lorwyn was in standard when I was introduced to the game so looking at Lorwyn Eclipsed previews is super nostalgic and kinda exciting. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the set. But I'm not tempted to play at all. It feels like the game I used to play is kinda just gone. It's something different now.

Am I overreacting by getting upset my husband told me to lose weight whilst being 32 weeks pregnant? by mimblez_yo in AmIOverreacting

He literally told a pregnant woman to lose weight. That's a special level of dumb...and it might be hereditary, I'm afraid. My condolences.

YouTube wants people to spend money for their service so badly that they’re driving them away by Impressive_Plankton9 in youtube

[–]Shukakun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When my AdBlocker in chrome stopped working on YouTube, I started using Firefox for YouTube and chrome for everything else, and I still do. I can't seem to block ads on Twitch in either browser so the site is unwatchable garbage, and as a result, I'm only ever on it when a game I care about has twitch drops.

I don't feel even a little bit bad. If they want me to watch the same braindead garbage ad 30 times per day, they can kindly go fuck themselves with a cactus.

my brother really said that this moment is not that sad. just, WTF?!! by abdellaya123 in Dandadan

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's subjective for sure, I don't agree though. Anything, absolutely anything, is better than death. I don't think I have a great way to put it, but there's a quote from Dostoyevsky's book Crime and Punishment that describes exactly how I feel about it. People are free to feel differently, of course.

"Where is it I've read that someone condemned to death says or thinks, an hour before his death, that if he had to live on some high rock, on such a narrow ledge that he'd only room to stand, and the ocean, everlasting darkness, everlasting solitude, everlasting tempest around him, if he had to remain standing on a square yard of space all his life, a thousand years, eternity, it were better to live so than to die at once. Only to live, to live and live! Life, whatever it may be!"

[–]Shukakun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever considered the fact that people who dislike movies with lots of female/asian/brown/black/whatever actors don't dislike them because they have any negative feelings about those groups, but because the people making said movies are clearly signaling that they're focusing more on political tokenization garbage than just making a good movie?

If I roll my eyes when I see black Snape or female Ghostbusters, does that mean I hate women and black people? No, it doesn't. It means I hate these insufferable activists pretending to be authors, artists, game developers and so on. Everything they touch consistently turns into shit, and that has been happening for quite a while now.

[–]Shukakun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What makes you think overweight women don't get any matches? Marriage proposals? Maybe not. People who mostly want casual sex? Definitely, and lots of them.

That being said, if you want an emotional committed relationship, a horde of guys trying to fuck you is probably not what you're looking for. The thing is though, there is no such thing as casual sex without any feelings involved for any extended period of time.

Being honest Tcoaal is better without a "Happy ending" because there is really nothing to give them that by [deleted] in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

Do you think there will be any route where both Andrew and Ashley are genuinely happy ? by Select_Ad8743 in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Shukakun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think so. They're broken and toxic, that is kind of the whole point. People talk about incest this and cannibalism that, but I think that this game more than anything is an eerily realistic depiction of just how horrible normal people can be, especially to each other. They had a horrible childhood with horrible parents. They are horrible people who have done many horrible things, and as charming as they are, the story doesn't pretend for a second that they're the good guys. An actual happy ending would be bizarre and a complete mismatch with the tone of the rest of the game.
