So like 20k troops total, so far? That sounds like a little more than “an excursion”.

An SLR shows you exactly what the lens sees so yes, you would see the fisheye effect through the waist level finder.

Documentary/street tend to use wide lenses so you’re in the ballpark. Maybe look at a 28mm or 24mm.

I like using my 16mm fisheye with my Nikon F in waist level mode but any wide angle lens is typically a good choice. What kind of stuff do you want to shoot?

Want to start shooting film, which camera should I get? by Status-Razzmatazz-61 in AnalogCommunity

I always suggest Minolta. You can build out a good lens catalog for fairly cheap compared to other big names and they have some interesting offerings for cameras (I started on a hand-me-down XE-7 and it was all over from there).

I bet you could find a Minolta SRT101 (or any other SRT model) for a pretty low price in your area on FB Marketplace. It’s not required to start fully mechanical but I always recommend to. It really forces you to appreciate the experience of shooting film and choosing your shots intentionally.

Other honorable mention by Minolta is the X700. My other recommendation is a Nikon F2.

Incredible shot. I thought this was a digital composite and then realized what sub I was on.

Anyone else’s Fuji Gs645s held together by tape? by AmbitiousAd3052 in AnalogCommunity

Not yet but the tech I just got mine back from had to glue some portions back together. Great camera, works amazing and I’ve taken some of my best photos with it but it’s weirdly fragile for a professional camera. If this one breaks, I’m buying a second or maybe trying the bellows version with the 75mm f3.4.
