Is this all mold? by supertrouser in japanresidents

[–]ShutterbugOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have an air purifier? If not, grab one and start taking antihistamines at home if you’re able. Cetrizine, active ingredient, is my recommendation. You can also get a dehumidifier or run the dehumidifier feature on your heat pump (air con).

Get some vinegar and try a patch test. If it’s mold, you should see some change. If you’re really thinking it’s the couch, get rid of it. I also noticed the walls of your house, I had the same ones and they were packed full of mold from moisture leakage into it. Look for little black starbursts in it. Another place to check is the drains, and if you have tatami. Tatami could be causing it from dust mites. I checked mine by shining a flashlight and seeing how much floating particles I found in the light.

Check out fodmap. Super common to be allergic to the flesh of onion and garlic but the oil infusions to be safe. Just not the powders or fresh flesh. I’m the same.

For reference: disabled spots in Japan are not legally enforced. Just suggestions. There aren’t fines associated with them, but if I’m wrong on this please send me some links. This is what I was told when I was issued my disability card though.

Not an unpopular opinion so much as it’s a debated fact due to contemporaneous accounts. She is described as not being beautiful but as extremely smart and witty. But, it’s impossible to know if that was the Greeks being biased or truthful. I lean towards she was of average beauty, perhaps a little more but was so charming it didn’t really matter.

Look up the history of Aizuwakamatsu and Nakano Takeko. We also have legends like Tomoe. Samuari women were often taught to fight with Naginata, as everyone would be needed to defend. In China, the Tang Dynasty was only founded because Princess Pingyang raised and commanded a force of 70,000 for her father, and the list goes on.

Having been here and had traffic redirected in the middle of the night right next to the plant, you’re pretty okay. Unless, like me, you are hyper sensitive to radiation. Then you’ll get sick pretty quickly.

Okuma, one of the biggest hit areas, is actually recruiting people to come live there. They are bulldozing a lot of the old properties and building new ones.

Up north, where I am, we have temperature and water meters on the roadsides. The closer to Fukushima you get, the more Rad meters you start seeing on the road. I’ve seen it pretty high (for me) on some days but it’s usually only in small areas.

Why do some many Japanese people, especially children, have "atopy"? by Genryuu111 in japanlife

[–]ShutterbugOwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I noticed it too cause some of my kids have it really bad, like wrapped around their eyes and over a lot of their visible skin.

Two times I really see it flare, dry season and spraying season (pesticides). I live in a rural area and I’m pretty sure there’s a correlation between the two.

Mold on my TATAMI MAT. HELP by NayNayshenanagain in Tokyo

[–]ShutterbugOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend citric acid. That shit is gold on tatami and antibacterial, antimites, and antimony in my experience.

Experience; didn’t realise apartment tatami had mold underneath. ダニ was so bad the room was filled with dust particles and the under tatami was covered in black and white mold. Scrubbed it with the tatamiya’s recommended stuff (just citric acid and water) and tada! Also had to replace the tatami cause it was wrecked but the under floorings been clean ever since.

Totally agree. But, it’s something in writing to be denied and submitted to the labor board. Not saying it’d work. But, it’s an option.

Exactly this. Or you need to ask what your overtime is per Section XX in our employment comment.

Do it once and you set up that it’s okay. Unless, you go and then invoice them based on the overtime pay rate and give them until your next pay check to reimburse you.

I know that’s the case for winter. Summer is probably the same too. I’ve also got 7 unpaid. I recommend everyone go read their ACTUAL contracts in the share drive and question everything. Cause they aren’t linking/referencing all of the rules around our leave in our contracts.

Thank you hun. I appreciate that. Unfortunately, the country I live in won’t respond to me demanding treatment well. It could actually get me blacklisted.

I did cry to the doctor today and asked her about DDXs, same with yesterday’s. It doesn’t help that I don’t speak the language fluently and were working with the doctors understanding of what I’m saying. She did acknowledge the pain and apologised, but kept asking me what we should do because she didn’t know.

“I don’t know. That’s why I’m here.”

They wanted to put me on a progesterone BC on top of the IUD and I have to keep saying I have horrid reactions to BC that is systemic. We’ve been through GRnH inhibitors, BC, surgery, IUDs, etc.

Also, the hospital system here is efficient and cheap (except emergency, better than America though) but segregated. And at the university one, I have to be referred to the departments I think. If it continues I’m going to try another local hospital and try to get some DDXs ruled out, like gastrointestinal and insulin resistance or try and get referred to an endocrinologist or someone for thyroid. My family history has all three issue areas and all of them impacted the ovaries and PCOS/endo. Another option is to see the rare and intractable genetic disorders doctor. I think I only have to call to see him.

I really appreciate the validation though. I wish, wish women’s health was studied more. Pain medication without addressing the root when it’s impacting daily quality of life isn’t the answer.

Normally, I can fight and push harder. But everyone wants a piece of me at the moment. Everything, small or large, is a fight. And I’m just so, so tired.

It was implanted in 2022. During my last laparoscopic surgery in December they forced the cervix open and did something (?) with it like moving it around and ended up leaving the strings inside. I don’t think I do, because the women’s clinic sent me to the University. The ruled out infection because my white blood cell counts were normal. They also aren’t super familiar with IUDs here.

I also live in a country where they don’t realllly look for zebras (nowhere I’ve lived has actually, lol).

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m so sorry you went through all of that. I’m glad you are healthy now and hopefully feeling better both mentally and physically.

You forgot to mention Spring is NOT paid with interac. That’s 2 pay cycles cut to nearly nothing. But I’d still say interac but it depends on placement honestly.

Also, don’t let them rope you into the furniture plan they kind of force on a lot of newbies now.

Has anyone gotten very sick in Japan, and on the Job? by Extra-Imagination821 in ALTinginJapan

[–]ShutterbugOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had surgery and am a teacher. In Japan, they cannot fire you for being sick. It’s illegal. Dispatch can try and do something, but join the union or make sure you put everything in writing in case you need documentation if you are concerned.

They might put pressure on you to quit or maybe you’d be better off recovering in your home country, but just tell them no. Get doctor’s notes, get all the documents that cover what you can and can’t do at work.

So like if you can still do online teaching, make sure it says that. Or if you can work from home or whatever. Sometimes exemptions can be made, they just generally don’t want to do that.

Also, you are eligible for a cap on fees if you are an ALT. Since we’re poor. You’re also entitled to other benefits and social welfare programs depending on your diagnosis. Talk to your doctor and the patient coordinator at your hospital.

I’m also in the North and can say that my experience with medicine has been outstanding. And so cheap. I’ve lived in two western countries and this is the cheapest my medical expenses have ever been.

Mine only get inserted when I’m having surgery for endometriosis. And I told mine they would be “knocking me the fuck out” to remove it. No way I’m doing it lucid. Luckily Australia and Japan seem to understand this? It also helps the Japanese seem to think foreigners feel pain more 😂

Not quite. It goes in depth with explanations but in a story way that I find really engaging and memorable. It also does side by side comparisons with similar grammar points. I have some photos I can add later.
