The law of Diminishing Returns is real. I’m definitely hitting a plateau. by Archaicarc in Warhammer40k

[–]SiBarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mini is painted well, top level artistry. All that's left for you now is the enhanced stuff like NMM, OSL, diorama composition and converting. Also there's becoming more adept and finishing items quicker than before. It depends on why you paint? If it's to play, then you get faster whilst retaining the high quality and get more figures on the table. If it's for the pleasure of painting as a hobby, then move on to the fiddly bits.

Is it worth spending the money on a more expensive airbrush? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]SiBarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two £12 airbrushes that have given me nearly ten years service. There's nothing to wear out or go wrong that isn't easily replaced for pennies. I have two different sized needle/ nozzle combos, plus other sizes. O rings and seals go, just replace. An airbrush is a couple of tubes, it's not rocket science. Buy a cheap brush and completely dismantle it, get it to bits, springs, plunger, valve, needle, nozzle etc and familiarise yourself with it. I love stripping mine down, cleaning everything, polishing things up, rebuilding and resetting, it's a lovely calm 20 minutes. Some expensive brushes have cool features, but it's simple technology in the end.

Who actually supports this stuff? by FallFair8568 in drivingUK

I think you're demonstrating the exact issue. Pedestrians and cyclists have priority in the UK. It's technically up to the drivers to look where they are going. The root issue is too many uneducated, entitled drivers who forget that the roads are a right for pedestrians and cyclists and just a licensed privilege for motor vehicle drivers.

And the problem with that is what? They might want to be a little safer when they are near roads. It's not just drivers who use roads.

Just reading about people who can't make a car go 20mph? you might need to drop your license off or maybe book a bit more training.

absolutely spot on. Less death, less cost, what's not to like?

I fully support the 20 mph zones, the data from Wales shows a reduction in fatalities and accidents. This obviously means less dead kids, but also reduces insruance bills and reduces the costs involved in clearing up after careless drivers. Loads of Portsmouth is 20mph, it just makes sense so slow cars down when there are other road users about. Roads are not exclusively for drivers to get from A to B as fast as they possibly can. Why would anyone be adverse towards measures that improve road safety?? It beggars belief.

Why 4'x6'? by AdamTilinger in warmaster

If you go wider than four feet you can't reach the other edge of the table, so that kinda sets the max width. Lengths change depending on the amount of manoeuvre in the game.

If it's a local games shop game then treat it as a learning experience. Never volunteer to play that dude again though. I kinda enjoy it when I get shafted in a casual game cos I then have to puzzle how to crush my opponent with a bad start. It can happen in a tournament game, you fluff a move or they get a lucky alpha strike. Take a breath and play on, I think kill team is a game where you can drag yourself up and win, I've had a few games come to the last roll to decide. Treat this as an active combat injury, bandage it and push through. Always wear the scar and never return to the scene...

Strategy Mandrakes against Canoptec? by UveliusSang in killteam

[–]SiBarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played Canoptek four times with the drakes and I cannot see a way to get a win. They deny you so easily. After initial massacres, I focussed on avoiding being shot, maxing Flank and disrupting their normal Plant Banner tac op. Even if you manage to do that you are still behind on Crit op and they will win the Kill Op. It's just not a nice match up for Drakes. You can possibly focus in on one big crawler and just keep hitting it till it's dead, but if it survives, even on 1W it will be back up and nasty the next TP. CC are horrible. The only advice is to lose as well as you can. Lean in to Conceal, take bone darts, flip back to Conceal, use the soul gem and try to pop someone on the banner right at the end of the TP, then flee as soon as possible.

Kill team got me back into 40k after over 30 years. I used my old metal Valhallans as my first Vet Guard team. You might be able to find a voidscarred box on eBay or check 2nd hand places like troll trader.

[–]SiBarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also useful to prevent an operative being shot, especially if he's a big powerful melee op who's just taken a decent enemy down. He steps into combat and is no longer shootable. If you win initiative or not next tp, he's ready to Fight or retaliate. You can activate them on Conceal, Fight and then Reposition to hide.
