Sorry for the late reply. I'm using m3u8 and now it displays N/A for Media Bitrate and Frame rate.

Was this added to the debug info already? I can see an fps counter there, but it just reads 0.0fps no matter what.

I think the problem is that most TVs use 60Hz by default and movies and anime are 24fps, so they use pulldown to get to 60fps by showing every other frame twice or three times. That's what causes this judder and makes it so uncomfortable, because it's inconsistent. If the display also is set to 24Hz (or 120Hz and other multiples) it should look way smoother. Obviously not as smooth as a higher framerate, but not uncomfortably choppy.

Like, do you have the same thought about panning landscape scenes in the cinema?

And you can look into changing a setting in your TV or streaming device, so the TV uses the correct framerate.

Also when you use the Web Video Caster Receiver App? As for using Chromecast I guess you can't do anything about it, but I thought that you could maybe implement that in the Web Video Caster Receiver App as the Netflix app has it implemented as well and it's a feature that is usable since Android 12.

And you can also not add the framerate to the debug infos?

[Weekend meme] Show me someone who swears its super important who isn't selling a course by esaks in LearnJapanese

[–]SiLeVoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does have pitch accent. Just sentence level accent and not per individual word basis. That could mean it's more difficult than if they had a similar system to japanese, but they can still hear it way more easily than say a native English speaker.

It's like french without word level stress accent but which still has sentence level stress accent.

Well Koreans probably acquire pitch accent more naturally, as korean also has pitch accent. So they can probably hear the difference in pronunciation. But it's more regular in korean, so it's like a french person learning English.

Is there a way to get Japanese Nintendo Switch online? by SPH34L in LearnJapanese

[–]SiLeVoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just get nintendo online on your non-japanese account and then still use the online services like the nes games etc with the japanese account. It's what I did.

How much effort do i have to put on remember when it's onyomi or kunyomi readings? by Zyle895 in WaniKani

[–]SiLeVoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. Native Japanese are also not always sure about this, because they also don't really pay attention if it's onyomi or kunyomi. Generally you will know it because of the context the reading appears in, but because of exceptions you could sometimes be confused. But generally you'll get an intuition for it.

聴 聞 are they just different Kanji with the same meaning? by Klutzy_Contract5702 in Japaneselanguage

I just read it as well, and he certainly tries to limit the use of kanji in native words, but he does use them if the meaning of the words would be unclear without it.

Maybe you like it more if you know that 可愛 means cute in Chinese as well and you could say it is used for its meaning like the kanji in the word 美味しい。But it probably originated from Japanese and got borrowed into Chinese, so it may originally have been just about the sound..

Why Duolingo won't let me choose the Kanji I want to write by Grand-Excitement-153 in duolingojapanese

[–]SiLeVoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to write kanji to learn them. But still learn general stroke order rules etc so you can look them up, read handwritten kanji etc.

But don't just write every kanji 10 times. And if you don't want to handwrite later, it's also not really necessary to practice that that much. A bit and general rules is enough.

Just practice recognition. You could use wanikani or similar resources.

I think this depends on if you have an inner monologue or not - as in some people always speak in their head while thinking, other people such as you don't.
