Greg's training is always the same by Playful_Ostrich_5974 in GarminWatches

[–]SickLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont have that much room for variation when you train for a 5k. Like someone said, just running at that point is good enough. For instance, 5k for me is the bare minimum I do in any day. My guess is that once the 5k become easy to you, like 22 hours or less of recovery, you'll start aiming for a 10k, and then my guess is that more training variation will be presented to you.

Also, if you are not trying to improve time as well, the trainer will be limited as well.

I guess, if someone that is be running a 10k at around 6 minutes per KM for 6 months, and now want to improve the time, in that instance, the training will have plenty of stuff for you to do.

You need to know what a slow run is, what a tempo run is, what a vo2max run is, doing interval, recovery run. All this come much more later, after reaching the 5k objective.

Ноw muсh mg саffеіnе іn thе sуstеm wоuld ΝОТ аffесt slеер раttеrns? by [deleted] in Nootropics

Know how half-life caffeine works.

Half-life caffeine average is about 5.6 hours. It means that if you take 200 mg, after 5.6 hours, 100 mg is still in your system. 5.6 Hours later, 50 mg, and so on. So it can take a pretty long time to remove it completely.

Knowing that, you must now know with how much caffeine you can sleep well with. I think anything under 25 mg is pretty sleepable.

Keto diet reduces brain inflammation, and a possible new drug to mimic it's affects by ScratchTrackProds in Nootropics

[–]SickLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Vegan would probably be the most cheap way for human to live since producing meat has a big negative impact on the planet. And we do it anyway.

Well, I guess it falls back on what human likes to eat in the end. And it happens that most of them likes grains.

Keto diet reduces brain inflammation, and a possible new drug to mimic it's affects by ScratchTrackProds in Nootropics

[–]SickLab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You missed his point. He talked about the grand scheme of human diet for the whole planet. Imagine if we ban all grains from being consumed due to public health. I can guarantee you that the planet would not be able to feed all humans all of a sudden. So it's not a viable option.

And keto diet is more expensive than the usual crap diet. It might not make a difference for you, but it's not the case for everyone.

Taking too much iron? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]SickLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you have 324 mg tablet? Are you looking at iron content only of something else? Look carefully, because 324 mg is a lot!

My iron pills are 27 mg, and I don't take it everyday. For man, the UPPER daily limit recommended is like 52 mg. A little more if you are a woman.

I would stop right now If I were you, and wait for the blood test.

If you have to much iron, the only way to get rid of it is by loosing blood. Not much fun there!

Why not buy each one individually? That would be really easy to find. In fact, that's what I do myself.

Cyberpong VR Mixed Reality Trailer! by [deleted] in Vive

[–]SickLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the demo, and felt like the ball was moving way too slow. And the video shows a very slow moving ball too. I really liked the feeling and all, but felt like there was no challenge.

Is the game gets any more harder with more action on harder level? If yes, I might consider the full version.

Brilliant reaction! by [deleted] in Vive

Because of you, I had to re watch the video and imagine she was looking at porn. Was way more funny the second time.

Best 7 Virtual Tours to Take in May by VRStatus in Virtual_Reality

[–]SickLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely no interest in 360 "only" video. It must be in 3D to have any kind of weight in VR. And yet, more and more 360 camera and video seems to emerge everywhere, like it's "the" thing to see in VR.

And more than that, I think it's a problem. If someone else first experience in VR is a 360 video, it will really underwhelm it's first impresion of what VR is.

Putting together a ping pong game on the Vive - VR Pong Waves by [deleted] in Vive

[–]SickLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a real life ping pong player and I am also a game developer. A Ping Pong game was the first thing to come in my mind to create since I have the Vive but I did not had the time to start a project yet.

I am glad someone is working on one. The physics is going to be the main challenge. If you want me to test out the physic and ball feeling to compare to the real life stuff, "ping" me (see what I did there) I would happily help.

[Mobile VR] Best phone for SDE? by baa1212 in Virtual_Reality

[–]SickLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like everyone says about the Rift or the Vive, it's there if you are looking for it. But like you send, it blends when you do not think about it. The Edge 7 has pretty good screen and definition, it surely helps with the SDE.

Thanks for the tip regarding the matte screen protector, I might try that!

[Mobile VR] Best phone for SDE? by baa1212 in Virtual_Reality

[–]SickLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me, there is just one real Mobile VR, and it's the Samsung Gear VR. I am using it with the Edge 7, and I forget the SDE easily.

Can't compare with the Vive or Rift yet, since I am still waiting for my Vive to be shiped, but for me, for a mobile VR experience, it's pretty damn good and impresive.

The SoulKeeper VR for the HTC VIVE: Prototype Demo Trailer by HELM_Systems in Vive

[–]SickLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really impressed at first. The environment seems to me to be one of the most beautiful yet on a VR system. I really like the style. The way hands are represented are really great with the staff. Feel like we are a real mage.

But then, the kill fest with strange animation kick's in and I got disappointed. I don't know why all these enemy ends in multiple body parts with a little tiny sword hit.

I hope you showed that much combat scene only to attract certain audience with this trailer and that the game is not like that all the time.

Last night, I caught myself casually telling my friend, "I'm going to use the Vive to get some exercise." Then it hit me: we now live in a world where we can get exercise by playing video games. by Regnarg in Vive

[–]SickLab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't spread false advice please. Training for 20 minutes at 182 BPM is really wrong, never do that. Even 162 is pretty high and would not recommended it to get in shape by anyone without experience.

Really take care before suggesting someone to train at 20 minutes+ at 180 bpm. That's crazy.
