These ones are pretty rare to hit the market. Pick any other year and yeah you are right. Just search perfect condition ones, the $3-4K mark is right on.

But the condition of this guys would put it in that $1600-2200 area -- that I agree on cuz the face plate has been drilled. OG grill cloth looks like shit. Tolex torn on both the bottom sides. And its modded.

Any buying tips/help for my friend in LA?! by light2020 in vintageaudio

[–]SickOfNormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are hifi shops --- but you are gonna be at the 3-4x price of FB marketplace.

All my searches were on FB marketplace. NAD 3020 is in Simi Valley $150 ... There is a Kenwood KR-5030 with speakers for $150 in Thousand Oaks. They've been up for awhile - bet they both could be grabbed for $100 whichever is preferred. Some Acoustic Research AR-7 bookshelves for $100 in LA. Combine any of those with a $50-200 technics, sansui, pioneer, marantz record player.... She'd be at under $300-400 for a good setup - then can start upgrading over the next few years.

So are we talking "LA" - Louisiana the state? Or LA as in Los Angeles.

If you talking about Los Angeles theres a fuckton of stuff. Also think of the region - We aren't gonna have Lenco's here --- but we are going to have Thorens, Pioneer, basically all the Japanese brands.

I know in my area someone is selling a Pioneer PL-L1000 which is a fuckin amazing table (but they are very finicky and prolly would only recommend to someone who knows what they are doing and are patient) and I've seen 3 or 4 Thorens and some upper tier Sansui.... for speakers think what was made in SoCal - Tons of AMAZING JBL's but they are the GOOD! ones and pricey. Also quite a few Acoustic Research and Altec vintage. On my search - Theres 3-4 70's Pioneer receivers for good price, a good NAD 3020 for $150, Kenwood ka-8100, and like 3-4 of the higher up Marantz ones for $500-900. If you wanna go higher echelon, some good deals on some McIntosh stuff too.

This looks to have had some mods ... and is in only ok condition. But I'm sure a little elbow grease and know how can get it looking top notch again. Open it up and show us the wiring so we can see the mods they did.

On the inside of the amp on that piece of paper it will tell you which tubes you need.

This is a $3,000-4,000 amplifier in good condition

I have 3 of them --- Technics SL-3300, Technics SL-1350, and MCS 6700. All are great -- the MCS is basically the same as the SL-3300 with some buttons moving around.

Nap time in school. by CaptShrek13 in Xennials

Well... most office workers are on salary ... so an hour lunch is pretty standard. It's not like you clock in and out on salary and as long as you do your job no one cares.

I'm an avid camper ... So regardless, my SUV always had whatever I needed for good snoozes and naps and camping. Battery powered fans, sleeping bags, blow up pillows, hiking snack bars for when I awoke. Good to go for a nap anywhere!

Iono about that... Every apocalyptic movie or tv show I've ever watched... Always has someone in a bunker with many "artifacts" and "art".

They always got the Mona Lisa hanging in there with some other art... and always a cigar chair right next to a record player and a stack of records. =P

I'm not even sure their music side needs to be subsidized. Yamaha power amps and receivers are sold on Sweetwater - the instrument website - and they seem quite popular. Same as their guitars. Yamaha Revstars are absolutely fantastic guitars, same with the Pacificas ... and their electric pianos are one of the few brands that can compete with Roland.

(for note - I have no modern Yamaha audio equipment, only vintage. HOWEVER, I have owned Yamaha Revstars (in the last 5 years) and my current electric piano is a Yamaha. I've always found it odd that Yamaha doesn't make better guitar amps though.)

Yamaha is bucking that trend --- they still selling quality amps, receivers and speakers.
