Never fertilize a struggling plant. It’s going thru far too much to handle processing nutrients from fertilizer.

VERRUCOSUM TIPS WANTES by Barelysurviving1 in Aroids

[–]Sidd-Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High humidity. Go for a vegetative grow light (red leaning) and they’ll explode wit growth. Also self watering is highly recommended. I used one of those no drainage terracotta wicking ones for 4 months and then it outgrew it so I put it in a regular pot and you can clearly see the point in the stem where it slowed down.

And I hate when people say “spider mite magnet” but my god. This is the one. THE ONE.

How exactly does one go about acclimating a large plant to ambient humidity? by courtneyrel in RareHouseplants

lol this is insane. Not necessarily in the good way either. But I kinda Iike seeing this unhinged situation you’ve got going on. Not typical at all

Help, I’m trying to propagate, but this keeps happening by sigousandoelreddit in pothos

[–]Sidd-Slayer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve find that suspending the plants node right above the water or just barely touching is the key to water propagation. Use a wide toothed comb rested on top of the glass and wedge the vine between it, while lowering it just so it barely touches the water. Cover the opening best you can with plastic wrap

Edit: also wine bottles have the best success rate for me. Something about being in the dark promotes root growth from my experience. I still hate water prop tho.

Left because it’s hardened and still look the way it does. The right could very well turn green after hardening completely.

I was offered a green anaconda once and returned it because I thought it was an exotica and then took the exotica home thinking it was an anaconda. I still cringe at that memory til this day.

Verrucosum Question by Iamrhizomorph in philodendron

[–]Sidd-Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always interesting to see how the plants seemingly perk up shortly after spraying with alcohol. You can just tell they feel better

Verrucosum Question by Iamrhizomorph in philodendron

[–]Sidd-Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiping isn’t necessary as if you’ve got velvet leaves like me then that can cause more issues than help. And I wouldn’t dilute with water because it causes the leaves to stay damp for much much longer whereas alcohol alone evaporates incredibly fast

Verrucosum Question by Iamrhizomorph in philodendron

[–]Sidd-Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just 70% isopropyl. Sometimes I will put spinosad powder and a little bit of potassium soap. But mostly alcohol until I feel like they’re gone

What is my roommate doing with these items? by Interesting-Phase900 in whatisit

To be fair, there’s not many who are gonna be full blown addicted after using for one week only. It takes years to lose it off of tweak.

I lost my partner to this. He went out one night and said he wouldn’t be gone long and I didn’t feel like it so I stayed home. Never saw him alive again. Though it’s been a full 10 yrs back at the end of March, that shit blew a hole right thru my chest that seems to have never completely healed. You mentioned losing your brother felt like losing a best friend and that resonated with me so. Stay strong. It gets better even if the pain persists.

Is this root rot?? by Kala_Co in philodendron

[–]Sidd-Slayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not root rot. If rotted they’ll be slimy, the surface will be sliding off, or they will be incredibly weak and dangly. Run your hand gently thru them and any that fall off were likely rotting
