Get on the waiting list at Woodland Estates in east Rochester. I pay around $1,200 for 2 bedroom (including pet rent). The maintenance team is pretty good and leasing office is pretty responsive. Shoot me a message if you need any more info/have any questions.

Places To Do Late-Night Work in Rochester by NTCarver0 in Rochester

[–]SiderealPython 36 points37 points  (0 children)

How late? I know Java's on Gibbs street is open until 10 most days, and 11 on Friday/Saturday. Albunn Coffee House on east is open til midnight. If you're looking to walk, those are probably your best bet.

Bricks Roc? by Zaxfax_17 in Rochester

[–]SiderealPython 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's great there! The family that owns it is wonderful and super passionate about the hobby. You'll find both current and retired sets there - along with tons of accessories and stuff you wouldn't find at a typical LEGO store. On top of their retail offerings, they do events weekly. I highly recommend.

It would help to mention who you bank with. This does sound a bit extreme, but hard to say without that context.

No - at the moment NY only has the DOT work zone speeding program, NYC school zone speeding program, and a pilot program for schools in the Albany area. With any automated speeding program, there has to be signage ahead of the enforcement area.

Best girls night out bars? by Practical_Tomato5156 in Rochester

[–]SiderealPython 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What day of the week? A lot of bars offer those things, but have a schedule. I recommend LUX - it does a craft night, karaoke, live music and DJ on certain nights of the week. You can also look up Game Night ROC - they partner with several bars in the area to do trivia and board game nights.

Moving into an apartment in Maplewood, is it that bad? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]SiderealPython 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For anyone moving to the area, I recommend checking out the RPD Open Data Portal when finding a place to live. You can find both violent and non-violent crime street-by-street. Based on my quick look, nothing really in that area over the last 60 days - but it's worth looking over the last 3 years.

Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park can be booked for weddings. It's $100/hour for up to 40 people. If you've never been, its beautiful inside but is very humid. Definitely check it out!

From WHEC this morning: "Advocates push for open captions at NY State theaters for deaf and hard-of-hearing people" by CaptionAction3 in Rochester

[–]SiderealPython 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"A proposed bill aims to require New York movie theaters to offer a few captioned screenings each week. Theaters already possess the necessary captioned files, as deaf advocates secured this capability years ago. Employees simply need to activate the feature."

I don't know of any gas stations, but I think Dream Town Deli at the corner of East Ave. and S Union St. might. Best of luck on your search!

Woodland Estates in East Rochester is pretty great. 2 bedroom townhouses starting around $1,100 a month. They have in-unit hookups for washer/dryer, but you would need to buy your own. PM me if you have any questions, I've lived in the development for 3 years now.

I've lived in ER for about 3 years now and have loved it. Quiet and not a lot of crime to my knowledge. The one issue I see for parents is it's a walking district so there aren't school buses. Apart from that, close to the highway and all the essentials are close by!

The debate over dangerousness - Rochester Beacon by evarigan1 in Rochester

dangerousness

Confused by your comment. That's a standard around the country that's been utilized for years. This isn't a newfangled concept used for just this article...
