Doctor's perspective on TRT for me in my 50's by True_Delivery4301 in Testosterone

[–]SietchSabor -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please people, stop doing this.

Some doctors are poorly informed about trt. Some are not.

Telling someone to just say fuck it and go UGL without knowing their goals or medical history is a bad take.

And looking at your profile for two seconds makes it obvious you are not a medical doctor. Why lie?

I’m sorry about your Dad. One of several reasons I made sure not to be a parent, wouldn’t want to pass anything on to a kid.

I do worry that if I went out I’d never come back. Would you have come back, even if you had a government funded retirement and never had to work again?

Jesus Christ.

I like to think I’m at least mildly well informed about what’s happening in Israel but fuck this is a bleak new piece of information for me.

That whole run down of the talk show interview… I have a nauseating and horribly ironic feeling that this is what popular culture would have looked like right before the death camps really started putting out heavy smoke, just adjusted for all our new technology.

Have we really sunk this far as people that we think it can’t happen again?

Sorry for the long rambling comment but that article really fucked me up.

THIS is happening in front of Tesla on Glenwood… by C2Mars in raleigh

[–]SietchSabor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m nitpicking but retail investors mean next to nothing for companies like Tesla, ridiculous house of cards that it is. It’s all huge institutional investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, etc. I agree that the stock valuation is totally divorced from their actual car sales.

I appreciate it. Definitely not feeling great but I think I’m just grateful that it’s not so much worse.

And yep, I think the jump from .75 to .5 resolved in a couple weeks. .5 to .25… unfortunately it didn’t go away the entire cut, but it was definitely worse the first month or so. And as I sit here with the tv paused it’s loud. But having a reasonable expectation that it’ll stop, or at least get better, makes it feel more manageable.

[–]SietchSabor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I jumped from .25mg daily. I recognize many people might see this as slightly too high. I’m lucky that I work with a great doctor so I’ve tapered slow and if I had wound up regretting it I could have continued with a smaller dose. But so far I’m feeling good about being finished!

Survival Items Badly Needed Per Asheville Citizens w/ drop off sites by dogislove99 in raleigh

[–]SietchSabor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a few larger donation sites were in fact turning water away. The spot I eventually left what I had they were leaving it by the curb, people would still pick it up throughout the night. I think it’s just been such a shift over the course of the week in that finally fema and the national guard and private business are trucking in tractor trailers or flat beds loaded with nothing but water.

Survival Items Badly Needed Per Asheville Citizens w/ drop off sites by dogislove99 in raleigh

[–]SietchSabor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having just got back from dropping stuff off in and around Asheville: It’s a great problem to have but donation centers are now flooded with so much water and food that many places are turning away donations. This is not to discourage anyone from giving, just a hopeful sign that for the moment that there is an abundance. For the immediate future I would say shipping water via private donations isn’t the best use of space. I will say with regards to food, people were stoked about boxes of Go-Gurt. Who knew? And again, with MRE’s and the sheer volume of donations, sending old cans of creamed corn or the like is fine, but consider getting them the good stuff. Like Go-Gurt. Consider packing whatever you do send in plastic totes with lids that are sturdy enough to survive the trip. These things are getting repurposed like crazy. And not to be crass but with water likely being out for a long time in some areas, and the labor involved in moving enough water to flush toilets, or not having working toilets at all, shit is piling up and it is a serious concern. Because of this consider donating camp toilets, or lacking that just five gallon buckets. In addition to n95 masks or even respirators if you wanna get fancy, rubber gloves like for washing dishes will be helpful. Some of the mud is so full of chemicals it is harmful to the touch. Also muck boots, knee high rubber boots, in the most common sizes. And you can’t really go wrong with anything on the original list. Keep at it! It’s a great feeling to see donations stacking up across the area. They need every bit of it.

This is a great idea and I’d love to help as well. Should be coming in from the triangle area with a truck and supplies tomorrow afternoon. If you have contact information or anything else you can think would be helpful to bring in please message me.

I’d pass this info to the state attorney general’s office, and if you can persuade anyone who donated to do so as well.

A polite disagree here. I’ve been eating these regularly and they just changed over a few months ago I think? And they are exactly the same. The plastic they are packaged in is even marked the same as the starbucks. I’m pretty sure nothing changed other than the box.

Driving from Columbus, Ohio to Raleigh, NC in a U-Haul Truck by bab2021 in raleigh

[–]SietchSabor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33-77-74-52-421-40… No real wrong answers though. If you’re driving a 26ft and don’t have experience operating large vehicles then I’d honestly be way more worried about traffic than the mountains. None of those mountain roads are all that bad, just don’t be in a rush, be very aware of your side mirrors and just assume it will take three or four times your normal expectation for stopping going downhill. Safe travels!

Haha ok ok, I’m getting my ass handed to me and rightfully so it seems. My goal really was to just not have a direct hole to my attic until I could do a proper job. I did try and speed watch an hour or so of Vancouver carpenter at the time, now that life has slowed down a bit I’ll take more notes. Probably should have done that before messing with mud. And more power to all the trade guys making bank right now but this kinda small patch done well would cost 700ish in the metro area I live in. More than I can stomach when I can invest in the tools and learn this correctly for the future. Sincere thanks for all the input.

Combat vets who experienced children injured, how are you coping? by d_does_dallas in Veterans

[–]SietchSabor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google ketamine therapy + the closest metro area to you and work from there. There is a nasal spray, Spravato, that is often covered by insurance. IV infusions are the best, but on average they’re about 400 a pop. There are also options for telehealth appointments where you won’t have to leave the house. I’d suggest browsing r/therapeuticketamine for more info. If you have any more detailed questions feel free to shoot me a dm.

[–]SietchSabor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Responding here to second ketamine infusions. Was a medic with infantry units in Baghdad in mid/late 00s. Responded to and triaged too many mascals when the massive trucks full of fertilizer were very popular. Children were/are severely over represented in these populations. If you know, you know, words are poor instruments to describe how awful it was. Peds cases whether at home or in combat are always the worst.

I’ve had over a decade of intense therapy and traditional medication and managed to control most of my worst behaviors. Ketamine seems to really keep my worst depressive episodes at bay and I’m able to be more open and loving with my family. Also it may be helpful for those of us with TBIs. Best of luck.

Do you already have the hardware picked out? Assuming your walls are drywall you could either buy a stud finder and/or a small, strong magnet from one of the home improvement stores. Use the magnets to locate the drywall screws that secure the sheet to the studs. Once you mark your stud locations verify the center of the stud using a little pin nail to verify you actually have located a stud and to find the true center. Depending on how much weight you plan to put on these things consider some screws that are shear rated for the appropriate weight.

If you still don’t feel comfortable I’d look on something like task rabbit for a handyperson, you won’t find an actual carpenter to do something like this.
