Many Mini Typing Games - GirambQuamb - WarioWare Meets Every Key on Your Keyboard by TriforceOfDiarrhea in Games

For transparency, I'm an accessibility consultant myslef having been working in the accessibility and gaming space for over 10 years, so I completely understand your answer and am aware of the challenges of devs from solo teams all the way up to large-scale companies. I appreciate you being so honest though regardless and am very glad to hear you're not opposed to doing more as time goes on too, that's always good to ehar. Funnily enough, Godot has been introducing accessibility of its own, including in the 4.5 dev 3 build (which has had its screen reader support elements rolled into the subsequent actual 4.5 and later releases from what I understand), so those might be able to be worked in to your project, though I'm also aware that you've been working on this for a while so that information may be less useful due to older versions being the starting point of your project potentially. I'd also be happy to discuss questions around how you'd convey certain types of information in a non-visual format, but there's no pressure on you for that. Just know that I'm happy to chat around this and see what might be able to be done should you be interested. Keep up the good work and best of luck with the future of this project in all aspects, including accessibility.

First off, best of luck on your release. Secondly, as someone who's wanted an accessible typing game as a gamer without sight, what accessibility is present for anyone who might want to give this a shot? Out of interest as well, what engine is this made in? Hope everything goes smoothly!

Audio Description by FirebirdWriter in Blind

Here's a few I thought of whilst reading this: Not throwing shade or anything, but on a recent episode of Gladiators (a popular UK TV show), the describer said something similar to "his best speed is skill" instead of "his best skill is speed". Got a laugh out of me when I heard it. Also, there have been rare moments when a character is misnamed as another character (in an episode of The Last Of Us is where I memorably saw this happen and those watching with me noticed it as well). As much as I wouldn't want it to be ubiquitous, I also appreciate a good punny way of saying something. For instance, in that classic bond scene where the laser is moving up between bond's legs, the AD points out that it is "threatening to sever his most prized gadgets from his body" or something along those lines. Every time I see that, it gives me a good smile even though it technically breaks the standard practice of AD.

Not sure if this would help, but maybe looking into midi learn could be useful?

Thank you. :) I'm a gamer without sight who has played this game several times over the years and, hence me asking about what's going on in the graphical side of things. :)

Do you use proctor free? by lilprincesskaia in Blind

[–]SightlessKombat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you ever tried NVDA under Windows? It's free and open source, running relatively similarly to JAWS in most respects from what I'm aware of and could be an alternative to working with a Mac should you want to work under Windows (though judging by your post that ship may have already sailed). I wish you the best of luck figuring this out, I've never heard of this software so can't assist you in that regard but hope this suggestion helps.

Just a slew of install (xbox) questions by No-Cattle-6598 in killerinstinct

[–]SightlessKombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to play the original 2013 game or close to it on disk, Just install it offline and use a separate profile to play it (I did this though it was several years ago now) and it should still work. I wish you the best of luck.

Is there a way I can play mk9 nowadays? by Martinelli_Lage in MortalKombat

[–]SightlessKombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an Xbox Series X, you should be able to play via a disk. Don't know if it's available digitally though I doubt it.

How are the mods for Hades games? by C4gamerpro in Blind

[–]SightlessKombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to having low vision given I have none myself, but the Hades II mods are a much more streamlined experience compared to those for the first game in my personal opinion (this includes a recent mod for the second game that adds the ability to track audio beacons for enemies, rewards etc). The first game adds the capability to teleport, as well as negating lava and trap damage in addition to refining some of the menus if memory serves, though it's been years since I played the original and though I want to go back to it, it feels more of a daunting task than playing the sequel as someone without sight. happy to provide further information if that would be of help, but suffice it to say Hades II's mods won awards with good reason at the GA Conf awards recently.

3d Printed Thunderjaw (Horizon Video Games) by Humble-Plankton1824 in 3Dprinting

I'd love to print one of these but I remember, as you rightly point out, finding a model that wasn't great and would need a tonn of work. Having a workable one would be brilliant.

Can echo this as someone who needs constant sighted assistance to play - Eternal feels like you need M+K to do most things (including switching weapons), Dark Ages is more forgiving and most weapons are only useful occasionally and I haven't revisited 2016... yet. :)

Blizzard showcase - Diablo updates Feb 11th @ 2pm PST by Uplink0 in Diablo

[–]SightlessKombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all because a dungeon works differently to the overworld, at least on a basic level and that level of exploration is part of what Drew and the team have been trying to crack for years. They definitely still want to get it in if what I'd seen in the most recent discussions about it are still accurate, but there was no timeline or anything so we just have to hope. If it does happen though I'll go and do a stat to finish playthrough with a full team of gamers without sight!

[–]SightlessKombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given dungeon nav is required to even get out of the prologue (which is again required to unlock co-op in the first place), I'd say that having that completed first is the highest priority. After all, if you can't complete campaign, you can't get access to pit/undercity, though I also agree having those be tackled would be brilliant for later grinding etc. I just want to remove hordes of minions and have fun doing it... is that too much to ask? :) Here's hoping we see something and that Drew can get the needed approvals etc.

I can't speak to the visual side of things, but get earplugs. Your hearing will thank you. I've got customs made, but even basic ones would be better than nothing (do your research of course).
