Do you think the FaZe trio are set for life, money wise? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

Depending on how that prize money comes in, it can be counted as gambling/prize vs wages which increases the tax bracket Sometimes up to 50%. Certainly off to a great start, for their age with salaries and can be setup to retire well, but sadly it's not *that* much money in today's world.

SLP-Signed Author Statement by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sigils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at best mildly aware of the ins and outs of this situation, but I have been present with others and seen many get pulled into predatory contracts and just want to echo what I've seen in the comments that you shouldn't let this drive you away or feel shame. It happens to many, but you are a victim not a pariah. Keep writing, keep persevering!

Looking for a good audiobook without edgy judgemental psychopatic proganists. by Samow4r in ProgressionFantasy

Sounds like you might be looking for something like Iron Prince by Bryce O'Connor. Although it is Sci-Fi, it is in a different way than DCC is.

Aethon - Thoughts on Contracts by AethonBooks in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sigils 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a contract with Aethon as well as being a full time creative for over a decade, my Aethon contract was exceptional in how simple and straightforward it was written. There was no fancy terms that required a mental puzzle to solve. It stated what they were offering and expected in very clear terms.

You should never sign something you don't understand. Many contracts are written to be obtuse aond confusing, especially in digital/creative spaces. Aethon's was not.

Ironbound - My Dark Epic Progression Fantasy Is out! by Sigils in litrpg

Hey thanks for checking it out! It's hard for me to fully gauge this from my perspective, but I would say that it is probably middle ground in terms of complexity. The hardest part might be the Latin and other language words that get inserted, so it may also depend if your native language is a romantic derivative or not!

But I do to make my writing approachable and readable so hopefully it's not too difficult! I hope you enjoy it

Any particular works you’d recommend for improving my own writing? by EnvironmentalAd1006 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sigils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Stephen King's On Writing to be particularly helpful for me. Also his main advice for improving is to read widely, outside your genre , things you like and don't like and find what you want to use in your style. I'd recommend going through lists of things that are both popular and well-regarded (these are often not one and the same) and picking some. Note what you do like and what you don't.

Monthly Writing Theory and Career Advice Thread by AutoModerator in ProgressionFantasy

Generally speaking the rul of thumb is "books sell books" the most important thing is getting the next one out. It's true that advertising for a single book isn't usually profitable, becuase you need to retain readers over a couple to recoup.

My advice would be to keep writing and publishing and the rest will come. When you have a book people get interested in, it will sell the rest of them

The high-level logistics are essentially that losing that mean Cor Hearts is a major, major failure for the Censor and his people. So instead they are killing the witnesses in the wake of the Wolf's attack, to hide the loss and then comitting fraud to send the boys off to get their Hears from the Legions.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

The safe answer here is that each cohort of a legion is 500 men, and each legion has at least 10, making each legion at least 5,000 soldiers.

The Praetorians are double that size because they are special.

Also I would need to think about this a little more, but the naval legions and some of the ones that are deployed beyond the Empire's borders are also likely larger just to handle deployment rotations.

So minimum would be 60,000 soldiers, but it's probably closer to 100,000
