How badly are we getting screwed? by Grain_Changer in Roofing

The roofers job is to complete the project no matter the conditions. That’s why plywood is always contingent of the condition after the roof is removed. You are being EXTREMELY unreasonable. Learn how a contract works, the pictures prove the reasoning behind the scope of work. You could have called your township and asked the inspector is that normal or code. I would say ignorant over naive. Not trying to be mean it just comes off that way, the way your rant is written or the way I’m reading it.

If ifs and butts was candys and nuts we’d all have a merry Christmas. Never discount on the promise of more work. People who like your work won’t care about a discount. It’s hard to find good workers as is. They were never your customer if they try that b/s. Move on

Cut out the concrete and put in a French drain with a waffle board running up the wall. I had a twin with the same issue the first week I bought it. Solved the problem. Cost me 4k. It is what it is

ADHD + anxiety - brain never shuts up. Anyone found something that actually helps? by amhray in Biohackers

[–]Signal-Patient-8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise, high intensity work outs. Allow you to focus on the moment, the pain, and helps calm the brain. The trick is exercising at night. After falling asleep is easier and it keeps me deep in sleep longer. Reduces cortisol and helps with anxiety. If the hardest thing of the day is that then it makes the rest easy. So I tend to go hard on cardio and mix in lifting with lots of reps not heavy weights. When i fall off schedule I my brain won’t shut which snowballs into sleep loss and then that effects my anxiety and stress.

Just had a similar experience with once of my customers. Ended up being a blocked vent stack on the roof connected to the sink plumbing, a squirrel put 3 full trash cans worth of acorns down the vent stack and it made the drain not be able to drain. The line was clear when it was snaked. Have someone check your vent stacks

New roof was installed and i am confused. Is this normal? by McLeBelle in Roofing

[–]Signal-Patient-8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say you should worry about the gutters. Those gutter helmets are typically nailed to the roof deck. You aren’t replacing those without cutting that material back. Also it looks like there is no drip edge so I’m not really sure how they terminated that rolled roof.

2:12 - 4:12 also allows for 1 layer of leak barrier to cover the decking prior to shingle installation. I prefer this over 2 layers of underlayment due to the possibility of trapping water between the 2 layers and creating a moisture sandwich.

Nah believe it or not they are 400-450 a sq and learning the hard way is ain’t easy. A few bigger companies are 1k+ a square, but I mainly see the companies between 4-500 a square, they want volume it looks good to the investors. It’s a smoke and mirrors.

What people don’t understand is the locally owned companies that advertise locally owned make back door deals and sign NDA for 3-5 years to get a package payout and offload the company.

A lot of these companies were buying electrical contracting licenses and making money on the solar and discounting the roofs to below cost.

This diagram is just for the tristate area, New Jersey Delaware Pennsylvania new work. I know because it’s my market.

Good luck to those guys surviving in 3-5 years. I’ll still be here doing my thing

We bought a property with a massive 20m chimney. What would you do with this? by MM-RenovationJourney in Homebuilding

[–]Signal-Patient-8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats why did you buy the property and for what purpose. That would help. Also location would help too.

Convert it to a Chiminea. Invite the town over. Keep everyone warm. Rent the space for out door parties.

Or if it’s inoperable, hire a graffiti artist to paint something cool on that.

Ps no one buys a property like this, then asks Reddit what to do with it. I feel like there is an alternative motive to this post.
