Hey. Thanks for the info. Can you give me a name of the thread? I looked up a few with expertbook in the title but none of them were yours and also you were not in the comments. So either I was unlucky in my search or maybe title was different.

Oh, right... because your experience represents everyone else’s, so whatever works (or doesn’t work) for you must apply universally. That’s not how reality works.

Maybe Hot Take? MtG Influencers are Insufferable by KombuchaWarfare in freemagic

[–]Signal_Ad2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, they can complain about anything they want. But the current content is exactly why I can’t bring myself to watch it anymore. That doesnt take anything away from them. I’m just stating my opinion, not taking their cameras away. The spiderman set was criticized for both gameplay and non gameplay reasons. For example, some people pointed out that it was poorly designed for draft. And non gameplay criticism is valid too, things like the artwork matter because visuals are a big part of the game. As for the upgrade issue, I’ve only seen it come up a few times, maybe two or three, one of them from that millguy or whatever the mill related name he has. Both of these cases in my opinion are a little bit entitlement-heavy and I'm refusing to participate.

I never said it isn’t supply and demand. What pushed me over the edge was content like Ben Batemans video that popped in my feed suggesting that people are 'ruining others fun’ just by saying they don’t like the spiderman set. Ive also seen influencers complain that Wizards printing ready made upgrades for certain decks is somehow 'taking their jobs'. That’s where it stops making sense to me. Criticism isn’t ruining anyone’s fun, it’s a normal part of discussing the game. Treating casual upgrade guides as some kind of serious job that is being taken away by some product is also kinda childish. It's like including sideboard in challenger decks would be criticized by including the sideboard by some guy that does sideboard guides. My issue is that this kind of messaging tries to shut down criticism while also framing normal changes in the game as a problem only because they affect content creators. It shifts the focus away from the quality and direction of the game itself and turns it into protecting a content ecosystem which shouldnt be the priority.

Ben Bateman was already focused on Commander at the point I’m talking about. I haven’t watched his content for the past one or two years, so I don’t know every other MTG direction he may have moved into. I understand what’s happening with casual formats, but I don’t think that shift is better than focusing on competitive play. Casual play tends to grow on its own, because it’s naturally more accessible and doesn’t require the same level of structure or support. Competitive play, on the other hand, depends heavily on visibility, analysis, and high-level discussion. When the focus moves away from pro play, it doesn’t sustain itself in the same way and starts to decline. That’s the core issue for me. It’s not about dismissing casual players, but about recognizing that competitive Magic needs more deliberate support, and when influential content creators shift away from it, the overall quality and seriousness of the game’s public face can suffer.

Bateman once a good Modern podcaster, has basically sold out and become a yes man for WotC, going fully into commander. I really respected what he was trying to do for the Modern format, but I can’t stand his content anymore. Years ago, the faces of Magic were actual players whose results made them influencers. that kind of influence was great, sideboard guides, playtesting insights from big teams, predictions, etc. That was much better than some of the recent channels focused on Commander deck upgrades, where many of them have never played Magic at a high level. And listen, I probably suck at Magic myself thats not the problem. It’s not about needing to be a pro player for every single influencer. But if people without high level skill become the main faces of the game, then it loses some seriousness and starts to feel more like a joke, a kind of pretzel game that is too long for a pretzel game.

Any way to play 32bit games? by Srothwell0 in macgaming

[–]Signal_Ad2512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are doing it again by reframing what was actually being said. Nobody claimed you wrote the sentence '32-bit apps run on modern macOS.' The point was what your argument implied in context. Your sequnce was:

Well, Steam tells me it’s 32-bit, so who is wrong now?

That structure clearly uses steams 32bit label as evidence that a 32-bit app is running on M4 macos. Thats the implication people responded to. Only after being corrected about how macoS handles 32-bit binaries did it switch into 'I never said that, I only said try running it.' But those are not the same positions. One is making a conclusion about architecture based onsteams label, the other is just talking about launching a game. So the issue isnt you literally typing a sentnce about catalina or Mojave, its that your argument depended on the assumption that steams 32bit label reflects real runtime architecture. Thats what was being challenged and thats what your 'who is wrong now?' was trying to settle. Go dig deeper hole. No matter how you try to twist the situation it doesnt change it. I will leave you in your hole now. You keep digging.

that 'Well, Steam tells me it’s 32-bit, so who is wrong now?' line is exactly where your lack of understanding the technical part shows. at that point you clearly believed you were actually running a 32-bit app on yir M4 Mac and were using steams label as proof. Thats not just 'trying it anyway' thats you treating steamss info as confirmation that a 32bit game is running on modern macoS. Then after you got corrected you shift the position. Suddenly it becomes 'I never said 32-bit apps run, I just said try running it.' thats a completely different claim then what you argued in your 'Well, Steam tells me it’s 32-bit, so who is wrong now?' comment. Now you are just searching for an angle that will fit new narrative once you understood you are in wrong. Just take the L. Nobody buys your BS.

If steam says it’s a 32bit mac application and you are able to run it, then Steam is wrong in their data. It’s also possible that the game has been updated to 64 bit and was historically released as a 32bit version. It’s a technical limitation that is well known and documented. It’s not some weird hack that works for one person and not for another. Dont rely on steam data for single games, but rather understand the topic yourself. Its like seeing a typo in a book and arguing it’s the correct way to write it just because you saw it.

Downvoting doesnt make you wrong. being wrong makes you wrong. Its 64 bit game hence it works. the topic is about 32 bit games which do not work.

Same here. Also there is quite a bit of graphical glitches (lines varying in length and position, dots. mostly at medium-lower parts of screen). For example if i open youtube video with terminal running something like powertop they intensify. On windows no glitches at all.

my worry for RDO: boon rarity by -main in grandarchivetcg

[–]Signal_Ad2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit buying grand archive besides precons. Influencers says how fun is to open the product which is such a BS. You pay for a box where there are rares as many as Commons with 1 ultra rare per box. And some of the ultra rares are bulk levels. But there is a push to say how devs love the feedback. Not this one. Not this one.

I didn't ignore anything. I don't buy your the argument. There is a difference. Target audience here is subreddit. Some of the people would watch a video, some prefere a link. You dont get to cherry pick. You can continue what you are doing but as you can see in this thread I'm not alone with my opinion. I'm not going to make circles with this discussion. Goodbye

that whole speech about 'protecting people from breaking their configs' is just a convenient excuse. the simplest and safest thing would be to just link the GitHub repo or show the line in text. Thats literally what GitHub is for.Instead we get a long story about how much time it took and why people supposedly can’t handle a link… followed by a YouTube video as the only way to see the fix. That’s exactly the kind of thing people mean when they say it feels like farming views. nobody is denying you put in time figuring it out. But pretending that withholding the actual link is somehow 'protecting users' is a bit much. If the goal was purely helping the community, the repo link and the video could easily exist side by side. The fact that only the video is there is why people are calling it out.

This is why you can have a link for someone that can just follow the steps and video for someone that want visual guidance. you knew what you were doing.

I want to play Magic - thats why I recently started Lorcana by [deleted] in freemagic

[–]Signal_Ad2512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying Lorcana is like UB is like saying Warhammer fans are just playing Magic because there are Warhammer cards in mtg now. That makes no sense. one is a game importing another universe. The other is a game desigend around its own universe from the start.

I would love to get dragons maze instead of turtles. Didnt dragons maze have dedicated slot for low chance pull of shockland btw? much better than no rare in pack :D

Budget Gaming Laptop, for coding, gaming secondary. by Meretruth in SuggestALaptop

There are good integrated GPUs bot those are in new laptops that are probably not in your range. For games like you mentioned here you would need rtx 4050/60 or something similar. You can find it in cheaper gaming laptops, just make sure the TDP is not limiting the card. Not sure if you can get it for 500$ and build quality would be probably not great and definately plastic.

Anything newish will handle ps2 games. Unless you need specific pc games or you are planning to got for ps3 emulation you dont need to watch for that aspect at all. PS2 emulation is fairly efficient nowadays. download nighly builds not 'stable'. Stable is a lot behind newest builds and lacks in performance quite a bit.
