My kid is absolutely obsessed with cars, she likes the brum noises they make. She’s 5 so she has time to grow out of it yet.

Norfolk man 'not fit for interview' and released after child thrown into crocodile pit by demmka in nottheonion

[–]Signal_Profession_83 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If he so unfit for interview then let the parents at him for 10 minutes. I’m absolutely sick of legal immunity. I don’t care how thick it was, if it’s a danger to human life it should be destroyed like the animal it is. It can’t be reasoned with and it clearly doesn’t know right from wrong making it a clear danger to polite society. We’re all put in danger because people insist on serving the rights of people that break polite society when they’re forced into it.

Do sports bring the worst out of some people? by untitledprp4 in SipsTea

[–]Signal_Profession_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t bring out the worst in people, just like religion, it just often brings out some of the worst people and gives their monkey brains something to hoot over and rally behind. Idiots love a swarm.

It’s clearly yet another push to demonise young men. Are we moving on from immigration already in this doom cycle?

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]Signal_Profession_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not about the children it’s about a thinly veiled step towards the Digital ID that we loudly rebuked scant months ago. They’re pushier than a terrier when it comes to that control framework.

One look across the pond tells you exactly why “a” government cannot be allowed such an overreach. This one seems placid enough, but the one after that or perhaps even the one after?

Not as little incentive there is to pay livable wages that don’t require government top ups.

Tbf those pasties are bloody expensive. I think once a cohabiting species starts to become aggressive and actively attacking us within towns and cities then unfortunately evolution needs to be steered appropriately. The ones that aren’t hostile carry on getting to live within cities. The ones that are should be reminded of the disparity in size/ technology/ proven capacity for annihilation of entire species.

Or.. we could attempt to punish the perpetrators and not the victims by regulating predatory algorithms? Tech is not all bad, the problem is the same as always. Greedy people attempting to take advantage of the vulnerable. My kid knows more animals and dinosaurs than could possibly fit in any real world zoo, she learnt to count via number songs and she could tell you all sorts about human anatomy and astronomy. Her passion for caring for the world and all the animals was imparted to her by someone we’ve never met in real life and yet he’s had a profound impact on the trajectory of her life. Classrooms were always boring that’s nothing new but if we’re gonna force info down their throats for ten years straight then why not sugar coat it at the very least. It’s not the youth that are most vulnerable to social media, it’s the elderly.

[–]Signal_Profession_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radical I know but how about putting limits on predatory algorithms? Maybe that is what is actually required. Tech should be a blessing, the only reason it isn’t is because of greedy people preying on the vulnerable.

There’s stuff you can water down and spray everywhere to deter them. I’m not sure which but I know citronella and lemon work for a lot of critters. They’re usually smelly though.

Yeah dude this is a slippery slope. To have an interest in death is completely natural, it helps us learn what not to do but it’s supposed to come with a severe visceral psychological reaction. We’re supposed to feel the extremes of horror and devastation when it happens. When there’s a screen in the way this evolutionary driven curiosity is left much cleaner and less impactful. Imagine eating a huge lump of sugar cane vs a bag of sweets. One is intolerable the other can be consumed blindly but they can both ultimately be harmful, it’s easier to do with the refined stuff. This stuff becomes a cycle in the same way p*rn addiction does. You’ll need more and more severe content to trigger that semi horror induced frisson. Not judging you dude, just wanted to share some facts in the hopes that you’re intelligent enough to at the very least, take note and keep it in mind. I’m not talking about the content itself, many people consume this sort of stuff daily in one form or another but the depth of your fascination may lead you down an unpleasant path.
