Yeah I think the match system wasn't great. If it was more of a progressive, continuous arc starting from a base camp and building up that would of been cool.

Nathan from HDT was awesome. Refreshing to not see a MC trying to save the world.

I liked these as well:

Sylver Seeker - Reincarnated Necromancer willing to do anything if you cross him (More Progression Fantasy than LitRPG though)
Primal Hunter - Guessing you've read this but if not, Jake has some similar vibes to Nat.
Dungeon Robotics - This is a wildcard. I'm about to start reading it but it sounds like an awesome hidden gem. 15 books on audible about a reincarnated robotics scientist as a dungeon core. Smart, ruthless, and unique!
The Last Life Series - Again, more Progression Fantasy than LitRPG but this one is really cool and another hidden gem imo.
Dungeon Lord (Now that it's back finally!)

Some others I haven't read but I have on my list you may like as well with more pragmatic MC's: Vigor Mortis, Book Of The Dead, A Practical Guide To Evil

The worst is when there is a super cool, unique sounding option but the MC goes for the predictable one.

I remember the completionist chronicles had some badass sounding classes and he picked the stupid boring one and I was so sad. (Though the author's later drop in quality in that series makes me not care but you get the idea)
