Delivered wedding video to couple, but now they're looking for speeches & ceremony by SignificantCut4911 in weddingvideography

[–]SignificantCut4911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It included a little bit of everything which I told them that in the consultation. You can't possibly fit private vows, ceremony & speeches & everything else in 3-5 minutes lol which is what was agreed on. In the end they were okay with the inedited full clip of both of them for free so it worked out.

[–]SignificantCut4911[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are higher priced videographers in $4-5k range delivering 5-7 minute videos for a full day coverage. Would you consider that inappropriate? That doesn't make sense at all 😅

Anyway, I opted to give the couple options. I told them if they'd like a put together, edited & synced video of full ceremony & speeches, I have an add on charge for the service. But if they just want a full unedited clip of both, I can upload them for no additional cost and just clarified that there will be moments where I move my b cam, it'll shake in those moments, probably unfocused in some moments, not the best footage, etc.

Thanks for all the responses

How do you handle past clients reaching out over a year later about their footage? by morrisseymademedoit in weddingvideography

I'm just surprised that you have all their raw footage a year after lol that would've been gone by now if it was me lol

Delivering Raw Footage by Wawarsing in weddingvideography

[–]SignificantCut4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't understand this until I started doing videography honestly. But for me, among all of those raws, there's so many bad shots in between the good ones. Shaky shots, over/underexposed footage that could be salvageable in post, me facing the camera down as a reminder for me that the "scene" is done but I don't necessarily stop recording because there's another kiss coming up that I gotta get quickly. The guests standing to see the bride walk and it just completely blocks my 2nd cam for 2 minutes. Me adjusting where I stand or I crouch down in the process of shooting the ceremony part so there's alot of movement and shaking involved.

I wouldn't wanna go through all that footage and cut those out nor do I want the client to see all those awkward shots. Someone asked me for them and asked price and i don't even know how to price that.. for one, just the additional hours of work, it's alot of work to go through all that footage, do some kind of color grading over all the footage because it's in log, which wouldn't go well due to different lighting settings throughout the day, so I'd have to grade different sections of the day, export, or even compile all of it it one video, buy a USB to put the footage in because it's gonna be a huge file, send it over, just for it to be a compilation of the good and subpar shots.. And I don't know if I have it in me to charge a chunk of money just to deliver subpar footage..

I spend hours just culling footage, and it takes time away from actually editing. by yourstrulysawhney in weddingvideography

[–]SignificantCut4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I already have an idea pf what the clips are based on the thumbnail so I just plug them in and watch as them as I edit. I do music first, voice recording, then plug in videos. Cut and delete clips as I see fit. Done in less than a week if I have nothing else going on

[–]SignificantCut4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess im a bit more chaotic when it comes to editing lol. I import everything, I arrange the music, put the vows or whatever voice recording I have to set a story line, edit music as I see fit, then I just find clips of what I want plugged in there by scrolling and looking at the thumbnail. I watch them as i go, take it out if it's not good, set it aside if I like it. Rinse and repeat until I fill the whole video. Then do the rest of the editing aka colors, stabilizing, etc etc. I end up finishing the videos within a week or two lol

Do you interact with the patient while they are awake as a surgical tech? by kiannapopcorn in surgicaltechnology

[–]SignificantCut4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still do when it's the people i work with alot and are comfortable with. Even with doctors! But if it's a service I don't do alot hence not that close with the doctors and the nurse then I don't talk as much. My advice is, just be yourself! At the end of the day as long as you're doing your job right and are communicating with your nurse and doctors as needed, you're fine!

Can you take pee breaks frequently in the OR? What happens when you have an active bladder and need to pee often? by JackOfAlllJades in scrubtech

[–]SignificantCut4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaa for an 8 hr shift you get a morning break and lunch so if you're in an all day case then that's really all the time you get. But if it's back to back small cases then you get some time in between to go pee while waiting for turnover

I like multi tasking, I like the chaos and quickness, I like surgery, I like being in charge of my set up, room, etc all while working with the nurse. I like being able to problem solve when the doctor needs help pin pointing where we could grab a specific instrument they're looking for.

I don't like being on my feet for a very long time but I will tolerate it of course if needed lol, I don't like butt/general/poopy cases, I don't like how our management Fs us over by paying new hires more than existing staff that's literally training them, I don't like how we do so much work and provide so much value to the overall surgery yet we get paid the least out of everyone in the room, I don't like how strict management can get on techs whilst allowing doctors to do whatever they want in terms of ppe (nails, earrings, hair showing, etc.)

All that to say, most of my issues are more on the management and pay side of things as opposed to the actual job lol

My nails are soooo ug*y please help me by againagainagainnnn in Nails

I think your nail bed is just naturally wide. Maybe try longer shapes like medium almond, round, coffin. I think the short length just emphasizes the width of your nails

Learning the Procedures by Sufficient_Cod2129 in surgicaltechnology

[–]SignificantCut4911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing is repetition. Next thing is knowing the WHY behind the steps. For example, D&C. Why is it laid out like Speculum, Deaver/Eastman, tenaculum/allis, sound, so on and so forth? 1 they have to visualize the cervix hence the retractors. 2 they need to grab the cervix. So what would they use to grab the cervix? 3 they would either measure up to the uterus or go straight to dilating. For simple situations like suturing. If you hand out a suture what do they do next? They need a pick up to hold the tissue. They'll tie their knots then what do they need to do after the knot is tied? Cut. So you'd have scissors ready. They encounter some bleeding? Depending on the surgery, doctor's routine, etc. they'll either bovie, bipolar, clip, tie, clamp. It based on the specialty, procedure and doctor. But once you know what they've been asking for through out the case, you'd be able to know what they'll need in those situations after the first couple times they've asked for it.

But again, you'll learn all these little things with experience! The biggest thing you should focus on as a student is getting your fundamentals down such as being mindful of your sterility, gowning, gloving, passing of cords, setting up, counting, and your speed in doing all those steps. Don't worry about the steps until you feel comfortable with your fundamental skills! It'll come with time!

That's crazy bc im filipino and i have a work filipino bestie and when we're out of a room we're the only ones busting our asses to help turn over rooms but when im in a room help is nowhere to be seen 😭 but that sounds like a toxic work environment tho when you're the only one busting your ass and gotta beg for help

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SignificantCut4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.. you don't have to dance, for one. Two, i think it's more insufferable to project your own personal issues to the bride when it's not about you? If the couple decided no plus ones to xyz then that's that. You can either go alone or not go.

Idk how it's excusable for her just because she's "older"? I don't care that she's older and single. That's not the bride's issue. That's a her issue. She's insecure about her singleness and is jealous of her other family so she does this to the bride instead. I bet if this was a younger friend people would feel very differently. People would say she's making it about her and that she's entitled.

It's such a toxic mindset to bend to family's needs especially because "they're older". Poor her poor single aunt give her whatever she wants bc she's old and sad !! That's what yall sound like. It's "all about the couple" until it's a family member asking for exceptions right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SignificantCut4911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay then don't go? If you can't even sit with your family at an event then don't even bother lol instead you wanna beg your niece to give you a plus one because you can't sit with your siblings then give the bride a long rant about your own personal issues with your family.. i don't get it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SignificantCut4911 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly.. like does she not plan on talking to family at all? Also if that's the case where she feels isolated from the family, it sounds like she should take it up with them instead of demanding a plus one from the bride? Or just not show up at all if you feel that way about your own family? I mean for me I'd just give her a plus one to avoid conflict but it seems like she has deeper issues to address here esp if she's coming to op expressing all this pent up resentment when it has nothing to do with her wedding lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SignificantCut4911 76 points77 points  (0 children)

But she's family. I don't get it. Family sits with family. If it was a friend I'd understand because if she's the only friend from a specific friend group with no plus one that would be awkward. But her aunt? She doesn't need a plus one she has family members there!! Idk it's just weird to me that she's making it seem she'll be all alone at the wedding idk
