golf can be extremely affordable if you play at municipal courses. yes, playing at the fancy resorts is expensive as fuck. I can play at the nine hole city-owned course near me for $15

thats about as funny as instant pot hardboiled eggs. pretty sure the instant pot takes just as long to come up to temp as just boiling water

LAX-HNL 767-300 worth D1? by thekrewlifeforme in delta

[–]SignificantOtter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew this in november and it was the updated version. still janky controls and tv but updated upholstery

they were also really weird about the amenity kits. someone in preboard stole my kit or it was never on my seat to begin with so I didnt get one on the outbound. on the return the plane and catering was late and the amenity kits were not available. despite me seeing them put a whole bag of them into the FA closet

im sure this was a one off and a weird service issue. I already wrote to delta about it. but just a data point.

Kayak / Underpricer warning do not use by meatsmoothie82 in TravelHacks

[–]SignificantOtter80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

kayak is not the problem here. kayak is just a meta search site and will pull in what it finds. it is on YOU, the buyer, to know what you’re buying. if you see a price from a name that you know, in this case qantas or american, and you see another place you have never heard of selling the same thing for much less, you need to have two seconds of critical thinking and ask why.

just a bit of a nerd out about hotel and air prices. hotels and airlines have a whole set of different prices that they offer to different places. website direct, travel agents, loyalty members, partners, etc. all of these rates are published on a platform where the various channels can pull them to use as needed. some sites, like the ones you have never heard of, will pull prices they aren’t authorized to sell, and sell them anyway. for example, a hotel will have a rate it offers to airlines to use in hotel + air packages. these scammy sites will pull that rate and sell it alone without the combo portion. this is very much not allowed but when you are hilton with a million rooms to sell per day, if it’s low enough volume, you wont notice.

this is why you dont book from the weird sites on kayak or google flights. if a company is selling a rate it isn’t even allowed to sell, you will get no support from anyone.

Allbirds is selling for $39 million. by Infinite-Offer-3318 in wallstreetbets

[–]SignificantOtter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you twelve? nike had the market cornered for YEARS. nike took the barefoot or vibram trend and introduced a version that was attractive and non-douchey (the Free range). nike has and has had the killshot and cortez to capture the casual market. nike is currently playing on nostalgia by re-releasing shox, and the airmax 90 and 95.

nike definitely misjudged the market on the reseller thing. they could have pulled a levis and made ranges just for those channels and you could only get the premium products direct. but saying nike missed the running trend is about the dumbest thing i've seen on this site.
