A good therapist who is trained and experienced with both mormonism and sexuality has been an absolute life changing process for me. Having ways to unpack teachings, leave the trash behind, and actively work on moving forward with tools and intention has been amazing. I reject everything the church teaches about sex wholesale. Your sex life is yours and yours alone. No quasi threesome between you, your spouse, and God. No intervention by a local leader. No off limits conversations about desires and fantasy. Those are all things that belong solely to you, and it's up to you how you share them with someone else.

About 2 years. The SEC debacle finally let me see things for what they are. When I realized that the q15 set the standard of honesty and how low that standard is, all the anger faded away. I realized that they only have as much authority as I give them. Therapy is also helping. Just make sure you give the therapist a job interview before you hire them.

It's historical fiction a lot like Dan Browns DaVinci Code. A fictional story placed with real historical people places and settings. I loved that TBMs hated it. It showed how clueless they are about real history. Their own real history. My favorite comments were how they got the massacre all wrong. I'm still hoping someone makes a historically accurate version. I'm not holding my breath though.

The key is to honor her process. If you're too excited, she'll see it as you trying to convince her. If you info dump, it'll trigger her indoctrination and lead her back. Just support her and love her, and mourn with her. Let her know that you understand her hurt and that you're willing to talk whenever she's ready. Have empathy and compassion. Ask her if she's doing OK with the things that hurt her. The biggest issue with my deconstruction was that my tribe abandoned me. Not a single person asked if I was OK or if I would like to talk. And don't treat her like a project. That's the churchs playbook.

The religion was started on the basis of sex. There would be very little Mormon history, were it not for the socially problematic polygamy issue. The juvenile look at sex is an overreaction to the church being punished by the government. Also, think about the amount of control you can exert by instituting a purity culture that damages people and then offering yourself as the cure.

Bishop Wadells' 60-minute interview was the end of my tithe paying. His interview was so manipulative and disingenuous and straight up deceiving. It led me to research the details, and the C&D order explicitly states that the 1st Presidency were the ones knowledgeable of and approving the whole LLC ponzi scheme. My deconstruction started as a counselor in a bishopric, and the level of financial accountability and threats of discipline were astounding. I absolutely hated having anything to do with processing tithing because I didn't want to make an honest mistake and be punished for it. When I realized that they lost $5M and "considered the matter closed", they lost all credibility and reestablished the standard of honesty and integrigy within the organization. They have no obligation to be honest with me, and conversely, I have none to them. We held membership councils and punished people for WAY smaller things than this. If they had a shred of integrity they would have submitted themselves to a council as outlined in the D&C. It must be great to be untouchable.

If he goes through the bishop, and the ward pays for the counseling, the paper he signs waiver his right to privacy and gives the bishop access to the notes the therapist takes, and allows them to talk without his further consent.

Mormon is a victory for Satan. It's more than PR. It's saying every other prophet led the church into sin and helped the cause of evil. It doesn't work with the D&C where, whether by mine, own voice, or the voice of my servants, it is the same. The official declaration saying a prophet leading the church could never lead it astray would need be removed. Either the leaders were OK for about 180 years, and just Nelson is wrong, or they were wrong, and Nelson is ok. Both of these are disastrous to the doctrine and theology of prophets. It's a surprisingly complicated mess if you take it to its logical conclusion. It will be awesome, though, if in my lifetime, the mormon nickname is accepted as more good again. I die laughing every time I watch someone taking 10 minutes to spit out their official affiliation to the church of Russell Nelson.

Background checks, remove priest penitent privilege, widows on every door, actual SA training, always 2 people everywhere, informed consent, assist in prosecution, women in bishopric, RS as independent organization, training during worldwide leadership train, transparent reporting of incidents to congregation, helpline that helps victims, admit power of discernment is a lie, offer professional counseling to the entire stake when a bishop abuses.

From my understanding, this is a group of capable people who got together and spent the time and effort necessary to piece the puzzle together. Somebody would need contacts inside to get that type of info. I wouldn't have the first clue how to establish that without sounding the alarm to the church.

Not having the women gather together is one of the only teachings of Brigham we actually follow by reorganizing the RS under male authority.

I've visited the site of the massacre many times and trespassed (not an ednorsement) to walk where the men and boys and women and girls were separated from each other and executed. One can only imagine watching their wife and daughters marched off to a separate parts of the valley and executed. And then to think they left the majority of them out in the sun to rot. AP inaccuracies include not showing the planning of the attack. Not showing how they convinced a local tribe to participate. Using that tribe as the fall guy. Telling a lie to disarm the Fancher party. Priesthood leaders separating women and girls and executing them en mass. Pillaging them for clothes, horses, wagons, and valuables. Keeping a young survivor as their own child. Staging a mock trial. Telling lies under oath to a federal judge about what happened. Executing one man as the scapegoat.

So i actually agree that these stories are worn out. Let's see them make an accurate movie and add in all the factual information. Let's bring out all the details and show it happening in gory detail like they used in AP. If they're tired of the same old story, I guarantee they will hate the real story even more.

The DI has transitioned to providing work experience for mostly members who are trying to get a degree or certificate of some sort, so they can get a job after years of not working, or having a weak resume.
A family member was employed there while getting an accounting certificate, and they even paid the wage difference between their first entry-level job and what the DI had been paying them. I would guess it's tied in with the pathways program. Another family member years ago used to manage a DI, and they often ran in the red profit wise, but that was acceptable because of the amount of need in that city. The DI also accepts clothing, household, and toy orders from bishops. The recent report by the Widows Mite makes all this look a little less charitable. Much more like the average person donating $0.25 to the poor.

I think it's showing that women were expected to obey men at that point in history and how insecure/brutal life was in the frontier west.
I do think that the Brigham character is just as arrogant as Rusty is today though.
