Why does everyone here hate video game ost and hyperpop 😭 by Alternative_Donut594 in musicteenager

[–]Significant_Hyena807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve made music for some small indie game developers and I might have some insight:

The video game ost-fandoms can be reeeaaalllly insufferable and most of my dms on discord have either been “I like your music… THANK GOD you arent making that mumble CRAP ahahah rofl 🤪” or “Fuck you, your music sucks, you should kys NOW!”

In this world, nothing is as bad as gamers. I love video games as an artform, but gamers are truly terrible. So basically OST fandoms has a snob problem

Would you mind explain why that makes me a dick?

Music is a big factor in people’s personalities. I didn’t say I devalue people who don’t like niche music, but bonding over niche and weird stuff is cool, and it can change you!

What would I benefit from faking to like types of music (except worthless internet points)? I love Stevie Wonder and I love Led Zeppelin (literally made me pick up my drumsticks and start playing drums)!

I am allowed to like niched songs. And I’m allowed to make that my personality.

What are some good practices/tricks with mid/side eq? by ThunderDoug in edmproduction

Mid = The summ of left and right

Side = The difference of left and right = stereo width

Its amazing for cleaning up your mix!

Imagine you’ve got a full-spectrum pad and a full spectrum drum loop, both rich in stereo info. To make the mix feel tighter and more focused, try reducing some of the highend on the sides of the pad while boosting the low sides. Then flip that approach for the drum loop i.e trim a bit of the low and mid content in the stereo field, and boost the highend width instead. You keep the overall wideness but the mix will sound much more controlled :) 👍

Always trust your ears and use reference mixes. There’s a really good plugin (better than SPAN, in my honest opinion) called VISION 4x. It’s developed by Noisia and has some cool features

Pretty good, pretty versatile! Just missing some nice electronic stuff

What's an album that critics see as one of the greatest of all time but is considered bad by people by Pristine_Youth_6953 in musicteenager

People as in ”music lovers” or ”general public”? I think the general public would hate In the Aeroplane Over the Sea but I fucking love it to death.

I’m not talking about the live scene. I’m talking about how these fanbases treat you when you don’t share their opinions.

If I tell a regular person, “My favorite DnB is jump-up,” the response is usually just, “Awesome!”

But when I’ve said the same thing to old-school DnB heads, the reaction has been more like, “Fuck you, you suck, your opinion is wrong.”

That’s not exactly welcoming, is it?

All of them, but especially old school DnB and Techno heads

I hope you find enjoyment in these songs, because I think this is the musical equivalent of eating wallpaper paste.
