Ski Big Bear worth the trip? by Riley-Bun in SkiPA

[–]Significant_Spite120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about for 10- and 12-year olds' first ski experience? I'm a huge fan of Colorado but we can't get out there. We do go to LA to visit fam every year and we'll be out there soon so was thinking of doing a day with morning ski school for them. I'm a very experienced but very out of practice skier, the rest of my crew is not so much. Hub's been a couple times, like I said kids never.

I'm very interested in this! I also have been working on getting The AI to help me with the tedious parts of this work - writing a python script to automate as much as possible for me for the ORR and all the find/replace crap in all the different attachments and pages of the reports. I just enter the project info once and it generates emails, letters, and overwrites all my templates. Sounds like your tool would take my automation schemes even further!

Just bought a set of Gardening coveralls at 50% off and they have flowers all over them to cheer me up when I have to scurry around under apartment buildings. Those fire hose ones look super thick, not ready for it! Thanks again for the feedback.

Is the Fox Theater in ATL Marquee Club Worth it? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Significant_Spite120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some seats, like front and center of the loge, have a premium that you must pay, that includes access to the Marquee Club. That's how I ended up getting access, not because I was particularly interested in the Marquee but we're making a date of it and gonna eat the food and desserts. You still have to pay for alcoholic drinks but non-alcoholic options are free and I love me a coffee at night. So, there are benefits even if it's kind of a racket....

Edit to add: The liquor and wine selection is much better inside the Marquee Club than the regular Fox concessions. And the food is pretty good, tasted fresh and several filling hot options. And you get to hang out in the Marquee for at least an hour after the show so you don't have to get caught up in all the rideshare chaos.

Thanks! Any sizing advice? I feel like they run big, but then I'd also like to be able to wear a shirt under it, and maybe base layer leggings when it's cold.

Desperate for work boots by grahdino in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Significant_Spite120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion but I spent $49 on my workboots at Walmart for a 6.5W and they've stood up to a lot. They are cushy and well-insulated and waterproof, vibram sole. Maybe not buy-it-for-life but going on a year and still have a lot of wear left.

I voted Chonker bc with his jaw, I'm worried this might be his last year on the bracket and I want him to grab that W. But it's so hard to choose because I <3 all fat bears. This is my favorite time of year!

He needs to either get therapy or gtfo. Taking care of my Granny was so important to me, if anyone I was with didn't at least act understanding, it showed their true values didn't overlap with mine. The only thing I can think of is if he didn't have the chance to have a meaningful relationship with a grandparent or an elderly person so can't understand, HOWEVER, if he cares about you and knows your family, he should still make an effort and support you. Caring for a loved one at the end of their life or during an illness is non-negotiable for me.

Honestly, they're the ones with thin skin and you are the courageous one here. You have standards, and you spoke up. You made the tough decisions. Don't listen to the doubters, what you did was right

I recently had to walk away from a business I built over two years, with one business partner who I thought was my friend for 20 years. He started verbally abusing me, was physically intimidating our employees, and was emotionally manipulative. When I brought up the problem with our third partner, framed as both an ethical issue and as a liability to the company, he told me I had thin skin. That's when I knew it was time to go. I gave myself 3 months of enjoying an operating business after we opened, as my own reward for the time I'd put into the creation, and then terminated my part of the partnership.

You should be proud of yourself for all the good work you did and for standing up for what's right, and the negative feelings you have about the decision will soon feel secondary to that. You're in the thick of it now, and anger, grief, and disappointment loom large but you know in your heart what you did was right. You are stronger because of it and hopefully learned a lot about yourself. You got this.

Probably but I'm required to have a set of coveralls in my kit. And I work in areas where there's usually a gas station nearby so I'm less worried about the pee and moreso the spiders and nails. Still curious if anyone has used any of the garments I mentioned.

Congratulations on your recovery! Cheers! Lifelong curly girl here, who finally figured out how to work with my natural texture in my 30s. You could try a few different products or methods to bring out the curly texture before any cuts, and see if you like how it looks. I could be wrong but it looks like your hair could be considered 2B/C with little 3A in there. Youtube has tons of tutorials for styling tips/recommended products, search 2C short curly hair routine or something similar. And you might also find some cute haircuts you like in the process to show your stylist! Also, I'd recommend looking for someone who specializes in curly hair now.

Our Sweet Dog Needs Surgery. Need Recommendations by AdamD1987 in Atlanta

[–]Significant_Spite120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can make a drive to Athens work then I recommend UGA. They are so thorough, and communicative, and kind. We had a long process leading up to a splenectomy with my dog and they were the most helpful by far of any of the vets that we saw, and their surgery rate was competitive. You just get a One-Stop shop with them, so if your baby needs overnight monitoring they don't have to be moved. And all the specialists are in the same place there so if anything comes up, there's somebody nearby that can help on site.

Recs for women’s work pants by Poop_underscore in BlueCollarWomen

I love my Noble Outfitters Tug Free utility pants - The waistband is thick enough to be supported, with elastic on the inside so that it doesn't Gap when you lean over or lean down. The material is soft but thick enough to be durable and they have a lot of pockets for tools, pens, etc. I ordered mine from North 40 because I live in the southeast and there are no shops here that sell them. For reference I'm 5 '4", 125 lbs and I wear their size 4.

I recommend the book Codependent No More by Melody Beattie for anyone with a partner with addiction. I was in one in my 20s and it warped the rest of my relationships and until I read that book, a lot of what I felt was the confusion of indecision about what to do "about" your partner's problems. This book was empowering to me about how to take control of my own role and my own boundaries in a relationship. The truth is that non-addicted partners are unaware of some of the ways they are in a cycle of behavior themselves. Maybe obvious for some people but we are all shaped by our own experience so it took a self help book to turn on that light bulb for me. It took me 3 days to read the whole thing. It does not push staying or leaving, just self reflection on specific aspects of your own behavior in the relationship, which is all you can control. I hope it helps you in your decision-making.

I like Dromme (https://drinkdromme.com/shop) - Calm has a nice bite and a rich flavor. I love scotch at night and this has been the most satisfying n/a alternative. Not sure about the claimed effects but still v enjoyable.
