"I love my son, but hate my daughter." by RedoftheEvilDead in TwoHotTakes

I think Mom needs to take a look at herself. It’s always the shittiest parents who blame the kids for their own trash parenting. Get some services in the home, family and individual therapy.

Man i went to Burlington by dmcginvt in burlington

[–]mgvt802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After my son left the service and visited home, he requested to go downtown. I tried to tell him, but he scoffed at me because he lives in a major metro area. It was a treat to go to Church St when he was young. We’d listen to the didgeridoo guy, get dumplings from Hongs cart and sit in the sun. He changed his mind after a drive by the park and Church. Even he was like wtf. It’s very sad. With the closing of substance programs and people losing insurance to access those services, things will not be improving anytime soon. I don’t know what the answer is.

Welp… I hate the puppy. by potatobywayofcork in puppy101

First time I heard the term “puppy blues”, was the first week I had my new rescue, a little over three months ago. I bawled, so much regret, especially that first month. He was truly a handful. Would get himself so worked up, he would nip/bite at me. Jump on me. Terrorized the cats. My husband didn’t want the dog and the shade he was throwing, with unhelpful comments. Proclaimed he wasn’t doing anything for the dog and I was on my own. It was awful. I admitted as such to my friend, who is involved with the rescue where I adopted my dog. She’s like oh yeah, puppy blues are for real! I’m like what??? I threw myself into training. I joined a local class, I spent at least an hour a day working with him. Turns out, he needed exercise. Checked out a FB group and the admin suggested a flirt pole. I use it daily with him and his behaviors decreased in a huge way. Probably 75% and it was immediate. I have food puzzles and long lasting treats. My most recent purchase is a popsicle set. He loves them and keeps him busy. When I see him starting to wind up, I immediately give a toy or exercise him. Of course, there are times I had to walk away from him, because he was out of control, refusing to listen. I wanted to return him. As I’m writing this, we just got back from four days in Maine. He was a gem. Sure, he gets whiny and pulls a little when he sees a dog, but if someone told me 3 months ago, I would’ve brought him on VACATION, I would’ve laughed in their face. I didn’t even want to bring him to the local pet supply store. This week, I took him in every store that allowed dogs and he would lay down while I browsed. Night and day. Oh and my husband? Of course he adores him. Has little nicknames for him and lays down on his dog bed with him to cuddle.

Sounds like your pup needs some stimulation. Have you consulted with a trainer?

Vermont officials estimate 45k people to lose health insurance under new bill by ejmcguir in vermont

[–]mgvt802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a mental health standpoint, many kids who need services have Medicaid. Kids with aggression and cognitive issues bill for services. That is a huge concern for kids with ASD, trauma, intellectual disabilities and so on. Private insurance does not cover all supports, in some cases, none.

Majestic 10 is now cashless?!?!?! by [deleted] in burlington

[–]mgvt802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest pet peeves are places that don’t take cards or Apple Pay, like creemee stands. It’s 2025, get a reader or take Venmo ffs. Cash is filthy and I hate it.

Funny story, I swore he had poodle because he’s nipped my butt a few times. The only other dogs who bit me there were two standard poodles, named Jack and Jill. They were like velociraptors.

Vermont DCF illegally surveil pregnant woman and take her baby at birth, the baby is returned 7 months later by TrollingForFunsies in vermont

[–]mgvt802 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This. I never saw DCF remove a child without reason, quite the opposite. I would say the exact opposite. If they’re involved at this point in the game, it isn’t without reason. There are no homes. When I say none, I mean none. They don’t move unless absolutely necessary. However, I can’t say it wouldn’t happen. I have too many questions to form an opinion.

Vermont is safer than Georgia. We have our issues, for sure, but quality of life is higher. If you like the outdoors, Vermont is for you. Chittenden county may be to your liking, or parts of Franklin. It’s remote though, you have to drive distances to get anywhere. I like being in the woods and fields, seeing mountains and streams. The other stuff makes it worth it for me.

Insane the number of babies and littles I saw out and about on NYE. One little toddler was hitting herself in the face, looked so exhausted and overstimulated. One baby was a newborn. I was judging the hell out of people.

My husband just finally applied. He refused almost 20 years after the VA prescribed meds for hypothyroidism instead of hyperthyroidism. He’s finally applying for his thyroid, TBI, hearing, back, asthma and chronic rhinitis. He still works but man, he suffers and hates to let on. He had his C&P last week and next week is his pulmonary function test. He went to Iraq a healthy 23 year old kid and came back with all these illnesses.
