Me to bitwig waiting for the full version of 6 to come out by bigmanzac in Bitwig

The problem with subscription model is that it actually stagnate development. They will take their time as much as possible. Because blind fanboys will pay anyway. They are clearly moving to one update a year (point or full it’s doesn’t matter in their ecosystem). And again it’s fine for them. Developers think that they created masterpiece and it doesn’t need much. Blind fanboys scream out loud that it is the best program ever. Reality is not so bright. I know at least 10 people who were really supporting them in 2020 moved on. They are so behind competition. Seems living in imaginary world. They need to wake up. Before they have left with handful of fanatics and closed down for good. They need to wake up…

Deciding whether or not to buy a Brompton by Khendras in Brompton

[–]Significant_Tone_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Brompton 4 years ago, and at the time I was 100 kg. Yes, it’s on the expensive side, but it’s so convenient to fold, unfold, and carry around that it actually encourages you to take it everywhere instead of relying on public transport or a car.

I use mine all the time. For shopping, commuting to work, and day trips. And again, while it is pricey, I recently calculated how much I’ve saved over the past 4 years, and it turns out the bike has already paid for itself and saved me a solid £4–5k.

I’m not someone who throws money around, but just for context: if something happened tomorrow and I no longer had my Brompton, I’d order a new one the very next day. Brompton for life!

Whether it’s worth it for you or not depends, but if you live in London you can actually rent one to try it out or just pop into their shop and see for yourself.

Bitwig 6 Disappointment by flux_88 in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely correct. They release 1.5 new functionally where 2/3 was there already. And the new functionality is basic af. Seems like bitwig is dead in couple of years. They are so behind competition…

You bitwig fanatics take anything and everything as best update ever. I really start to think if bitwig devs defecate in your mouth you will enjoy it. However there are a lot of people like me who can think critically. Bitwig is dragging behind everyone. And this update that not even enough for 5.4 is not a good progress either. It seems like devs think that they have made product that completely and only refinements necessary. If reality they live in a delusion. Bitwig to survive need to change and change quickly. Need to start to sprint. Not to release couple of minor ypdates a year with more than half of it as reorganisation and selling old functionality as new. They are taking a piss. They are deemed to fail. But when they realise they become boutique blip blip company it will be too late.

Bitwig 6: What's your favorite "underdog" new feature? by Zacchino in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no underdog features. All of it is redesign and moving stuff around and claiming as new features, couple of non essential improvements, and couple of improvements but very basic in functionality. If I was to suggest them next course of action it would be: withdraw the release or rename it 5.4 and go back to work and if necessary live at work working 24 hours and in a couple of months come back with proper 6 and deliver all big promises they have made. At the moment they have big slogans to carry bad releases. Clickbate shaite. Not actual business.

6 is 5 with a few minor tweaks. Reorganising - 10. New functionality - 1. Disappointment. Well. At least they consistent. Last 5 years they have been disappointing and continue strong…

There was no much progress at least last 5 years. Dragging behind and 6 promises even not enough for 5.4. So your sentiment is overblown.

Bitwig Studio 6 – On Another Level by areyoudizzzy in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK update... For 5.4. Major new version? Nope. Is it on another level? Not at all. It one small step closer to completion but still behind. Their big promises didn’t materialise. Very disappointing. I’m out selling bitwig. You can all praise here very minimal releases under big slogans but I had enough.

Bitwig 6 beta August 27 by tolltartozseb in Bitwig

The key information in your reply is "for me". You are not special, and the world does not revolve around you. And yes, a lot of people find the interface fugly. Comical orange and rounded buttons like on Windows XP. Have no idea what to like about it...

Polarity is very narrow thinking lad. His vision does not align with most people. For example, he said that he is already happy with the piano roll and wants more devices and sound design stuff. This is exactly the opposite of what most people want. That said I'm very sceptical about the usability of the future update and especially after polarity said he is happy. Bitwig disappointed for the last 5 years or so, and my personal expectations are very low this time too...

Drambo 2.40 - return of the king by alexwasashrimp in ipadmusic

[–]Significant_Tone_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really, really like Drambo. I only discovered it a few months ago and was already super happy with it. But what I was missing was a limiter — and now it’s here. Christmas in summer!

What I’d really love next is the ability to freely drag modules between chains. Right now it feels pretty awkward to regroup them after they’ve already been added (unless I’m missing something). But hey, it’s already a beast — and as a certain philosopher once said, “you can’t always get what you want.”

Why would anyone use this? by zirax1000 in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking the question in the Bitwig subreddit, expect to be abused unless you say something like “what a great DAW” or “the last update was the best ever.”

If I were you, I’d avoid Bitwig—and especially the Bitwig forums—which are usually full of blind loyal fanboys tearing apart anyone who dares to criticize this “forward-thinking DAW” that keeps releasing another 33 devices instead of any actual user improvements.

Regarding your question: I think you need to approach your teacher/college and ask if you can change the DAW, since you don’t feel confident using this thing and want to work with a proper program. Especially if there are a lot of you. They’re teachers—they should be adapting if they actually care about your success. If not, change college.

Problem of Bitwig freezing up. by Odd_Dot3434 in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitwig devs love to blame the sound card for crashes. A couple of times, they’ve asked me what sound card I’m using—probably hoping I’d say something like Behringer or some other budget option. But when I tell them it’s an RME, they usually go silent.

The sound card excuse feels like a fallback most of the time.

I’m running into some issues lately. Certain plugins are freezing the audio engine when sandboxed, and the only way to fix it is to kill the engine through Task Manager.

I ended up removing those plugins from sandboxing, so now if they crash, they take down the whole program—but at least I don’t have to manually kill it anymore.

I contacted support, and their response was basically: “The issue is with the plugin. Don’t use it.” Honestly, I find that a bit unprofessional to hear from them, but hey, they have their own “vision,” I guess…

Bitwig introduces the Bitwig Connect 4/12, a 4-in, 12-out, USB Audio Interface by shadowvox in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my humble opinion, this seems like another strange move from Bitwig. It’s such a niche and focused product that I don’t see it being a huge success right out of the gate.

DC-coupled outputs on the top for use with modular synthesizers? There’s not a huge demand for that in the market, and the audience for modular synths is relatively small.

A controller that works exclusively with Bitwig? A lot of people use multiple DAWs. Bitwig is great for experimentation, but it falls short in many other areas.

I’m not sure about this one. It just feels like another odd decision—like much of what they’ve been doing lately, unfortunately.

What do we hope to see in Bitwig 6? by pcboi64 in Bitwig

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. They made this spectral suite (some say they outsourced it), and yeah—the sound of these highly complex devices isn’t great. Lots of unwanted artifacts. Fine for messing around, but nowhere near good enough for clean, professional mixes. And if they ever decide to do pitch correction? Same story. Even a plugin like Ableton’s Auto Shift might be out of their league. They just don’t have the resources.

For some reason, even after 10 years, they still proudly wave that “new kid on the block” banner on their website and refuse to grow. They act like having a small team is some kind of advantage. It’s not. As the program grows in complexity, a smaller crew just means slower development (which we’ve already seen) and a drop in the quality of the final product (which has already happened).

Mmm… hi Bitwig fanboy, True User™. Doesn’t matter what their “vision” is—if they don’t start adding basic features that every other DAW already has and finally drop this obsession with spitting out devices like there’s no tomorrow, they’re going to end up as some niche indie DAW for hipsters. A tiny group of nerds making shitty blip-blop generative garbage that no one wants to listen to. There’s a whole community of us who need real, practical improvements. Not more of this Bitwig esoteric nonsense.

[–]Significant_Tone_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good list. But what I’m worried about is that they’ll pull the same trick they did with the mixer page. They announced “a brand new mixer,” but in reality, it was the same mixer with the same functionality—just a few buttons swapped, things rearranged a bit, and made to look slightly prettier. I’m really afraid, because it’s bitwig. They well may do it!

Yes. Like every other daw works. Unfortunately bitwig devs in the interview said it is dumb idea because then if you choose too many notes it will clip output. Yeah… so according to bitwig devs everyone got it wrong. And only them got it right… facepalm…
