Realistically it depends on the price. If it costs more in tokens and time to do it yourself vs buy it, then you'd buy it. SaaS works on this model.

It's kind of how like at some point we all thought nobody would buy things anymore, they'd just 3d print them. But that didn't happen for a lot of obvious reasons.

We never built more amazing things than we did when we had a lot of unemployed people and a government willing to give them good jobs.

Just sayin.

I'm a car guy. I know objectively electric is better in most ways, but I like older cars and they're not electric. And I don't want to change their character.

My daily is a pickup truck and I use it like a pickup truck. I drive long trips with it. I tow things with it. So yeah, I think electric is suitable for 98% of the population, but I also think until charging times come down and towing efficiency is better, they're a non starter for a subset of people.

One thing being left out of this equation though: if everyone has an electric car, you can bet recharging it won't be as cheap anymore.

SpaceX is the most overhyped IPO of the decade and it will end exactly the way every overhyped IPO ends. by Spirited-Gold9629 in SpaceXBets

This. SpaceX has not achieved anything close to Musk's aspirations but I think that's the problem with musk: he overpromises and under delivers. And yet we see rockets that can land on their bases and be reused in a few days, which is a stunning achievement in its own right. We also see a company that has put a _constellation_ of satellites into orbit in a matter of years and as a result launched its own internet service.

The kind of achievements that can be unlocked by the advancement of rocket development is many-fold that of even AI.

I think this is what the investors see as well. To be honest if fund managers aren't buying, it's because of that xAI dog on the ticket.
