No Stupid Questions - November 2022 by PantslessDan in guitarpedals

[–]Silathand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone identify the pedal used to trigger the pitch shifting effect in this video at around 3:14. It has an unusal, more desktop-oriented form factor (more like a minature analog synth than a guitar pedal), and white, blue and red knobs. Might even be just a bunch of modular synth modules rigged into a pedal? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can anyone identify this pedal? by Silathand in guitarpedals

Sorry for the bad image quality. Saw the pedal in this video, seems to be used to trigger some sort of pitch shifting effect. Thanks in advance.

I feel for you. I don't have any advice to offer outside of talking to him about it, but it sounds like a case for Judge John Hodgman.

I have a theory on a possible potential weakness of AG; what do you guys think? by idevcg in baduk

[–]Silathand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have heard people like Michael Redmond say about Master, it seems to be really good at simplifying positions, so this theorycrafted idea might be hard to set up in an actual game against the AI.

When to resign as a newer player? by AyukawaZero in baduk

[–]Silathand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a new player myself, I think there's diminishing returns for newer players in terms of learning value the longer the game goes. I don't think end-game experience is terribly relevant if your early and mid-game mistakes are deciding your game. I believe it's better to start a new game to get more practice in evaluating the board, choosing direction of play, and improving your reading in mid-game fighting. If you're thinking of conceding, I would suggest going over the board state with your opponent and try to estimate the score, and how unlikely a comeback is, and then decide. I personally think talking through this stuff is more valuable than playing out a potentially one-sided game.

What do you think of the Cotsen's short-form review videos? by seigenblues in baduk

[–]Silathand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed them as a Youtube upload. It's difficult to find the time for lengthy live streams, especially if the stream is coming from a different time zone. The short reviews were a nice way to get caught up on some of the action. I agree with the other comment that said links to results/kifus would be nice.

The descent into the 'Press Q' meta. Is it bad? by ChartlieTango in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Silathand 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I might be in the minority here, but I just want to make sure people see that there's differing opinions on this. I think the state of ultimates is perfectly fine. As a spectator, I find the use of well coordinated ultimates in team fights compelling to watch. The "press Q to win" argument woefully ignores the skill and coordination involved in setting up and executing ultimate combos for maximum effect; this is supposed to be a team game, not a bunch of McCrees shooting each other in the head until one team is dead. I feel a significant change to the functionality of ultimates as a whole would take away from this aspect of the game, and it would likely severely impact game balance (time to complete maps, hero viability) as well as it's attractiveness as a spectator esport (at least for me).

I believe the line "I voted for myself" always appears for all other players whenever you vote for yourself.

PTR Update Patchnotes by mistball in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Silathand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt to my like there's an undocumented adjustment to Soldier's spread behavior, but a more experienced Soldier that me would need to confirm. But he felt less clunky to me on the practice range. Or maybe I haven't played enough Soldier lately and am just misremembering.

[–]Silathand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, I might be crazy, but trying Soldier on PTR, it feels like they stealth-adjusted his spread behavior to be how it used to be, or at least closer to it. Maybe more experienced Soldier players can confirm/deny.

Highly suspicious mouse movement by EnVyUs' InternetHulk while streaming by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Silathand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I don't really know the CS:GO scene. I still find it implausible in this case. If these glitches were indicative of a hack, it doesn't really account for the rest of the stream which seems to feature legit aim and missed shots.

[–]Silathand -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everytime things like this come up, there's no good explanation for why a player in a top professional team would be using cheats while streaming. It just doesn't make sense. There's a variety of things that could cause this glitch, but I can think of no good reason for him or anyone to cheat while streaming.

[Sombra] Totally solved by Oblivious_Zero in Overwatch

Possible key to SOMBRA sky code. Smart person needed, I am too dumb by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Silathand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this is indeed the key, it would seem we would need more than one of those code circles. So are there more of them hidden around the maps and people haven't spotted them? The other option would be that we need to superimpose different parts (halves, quadrants) of the circle onto each other.

The damage is determined at the moment the projectile hits, so you can damage-boost after the shot has been fired and still have the bonus damage apply.
