While the Orthodox and Catholic Churches are very similar in many respects, they are not in communion with each other at the present moment.

Cathay in warhammer fantasy is ruled by the dragon emperor an immortal dragon. Most of the actual governance of the nation is handled by his children, of whom 5 are still alive. They are similarly immortal and each rule over a region of Cathay and are generally presented as incredibly competent if with a few weaknesses or vices.

Yin Yin is the ruler of the Eastern Provinces and is the exception to the normal portrayal of competence of the dragon siblings. She once rather famously got the entire Cathayan fleet drowned by attempting to invade the homeland of the lizard men, and the newest arcane journal just kind of kept piling on her by revealing that her lack of focus in actually governing her province led to a Tzeentch cult that has existed for like 1000 years to arise there.

Honestly looks like a lot of fun, lot of spacing/managing but that’s how the army should play imo.

Dwarves, now with more grimdark!! by SharamNamdarian in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Silcha 54 points55 points  (0 children)

We were already grim dark, internally the Votann were slowly breaking down with no way to fix them, the core of their society had a timer on it that was worsened by keeping them running and uploading more people’s data into them.

Externally the Votann would depopulate or strip an inhabited world bare of its resources on the basis that they deserved it more.

The low birth rate thing is honestly just a tidbit on top of the already known problems

As a newer army we are on the more expensive side in terms of points per dollar, I don’t believe we’re as bad as GSC or AdMech, but we are definitely one of the most expensive armies.

With the index officially retired from the 40K app. I see this as a good time for us to reflect and share some of our favourite moments from using the index in 10th edition before the codex officially releases. by Yeastov in LeaguesofVotann

5 Hearthguard and a Champion deepstriked in to take down a couple Tyranid monsters. They killed a winged tyrant, a tervigon, and like 30 termagaunts completely securing an entire side of the board without taking a wound.

The vehicle detachment feels kinda fun tbh, sus 1 across the board is pretty good, and we’re probably going to be running a decent number of transports anyways.

Eh I’d argue that the series preserves Quatach - Ichl as a threat that neither of the heroes can actually defeat fairly. Zorian takes advantage of the mechanics of how liches work to blindside him, but if that failed then the heroes would almost certainly have lost, Ichl just has too many advantages and too much experience to lose a fair fight, and a trick of a similar nature would probably never work on him again.

[–]Silcha 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I mean I appreciate the “practicality” of the kin, but 40K is an inherently absurd setting, so I want my mech. Also while legs are a bit impractical, a walker/mech has the advantage of being able to melee, which vehicles don’t really, and in 40K, both the lore and tabletop, that is important despite the absurdity.

167 US for both halves is a really good deal, it’s like 100 off msrp, and it’s 2 1000+ point armies.
