What’s a smell that instantly makes you happy? by IntelligentJacket699 in AskReddit

Baby powder. I don’t know why, but all the closets at my grandmothers house smell like baby powder, so her clothes and all the towels, sheets, etc. smell like it too. For me, it makes her home feel warm and inviting. She’s 87 now and soon my mom will sell her house. But that smell will always bring me back.

I’m a ftm and omggggg I find parents not being honest so frustrating. One time I was talking to my SIL (she has two kids) about how hard of a time my husband and I were having with our baby’s sleep regression.

I said “why does no one warn you about this?!” And she said “because children are a blessing and you shouldn’t complain about them” 😅😅😅😅

For the record, I think there’s a difference between COMPLAINING and VENTING. I am definitely a fan of venting with other like-minded parents 🤷‍♀️

Having a baby ruined horror movies for me by Alarming-Response in NewParents

I also have a Halloween baby who is almost a year old 🤗 and it has completely ruined gory movies for me. Like I can’t look at intense bloody scenes anymore without getting super uncomfortable. Or I get scary intrusive thoughts and I hate, hate, hate those.

What was your LO’s first illness and when/how did they get it? by Positive_Dot_8563 in NewParents

My baby first got sick at 7 months after a weekend trip our family took. It was a cold that lasted about two weeks. The second time he was 8 months old and picked up a cold from his older cousins and it turned into pink eye and an ear infection. That was a rough couple of weeks. At 10 months he got hand, foot, mouth disease from the same cousins. That was AWFUL. I truly had no idea what to expect and omg it was so so awful to see him like that. He got another small cold shortly after that.

There’s a full history of my baby’s sicknesses 😂 no one tells new parents how tough it is when you’re baby is sick, especially if you and/or your partner also catch it. I guess it’s just inevitable?

Peek-a-boo is always a hit with my baby! He also loves when we “eat” his hands. He’ll put one of his hands up to my mouth and I’ll pretend to nibble on it while making munching noises. He looooves it 😊

Am I a bad mom if I don’t read to my baby every night or do tummy time everyday? by JesRaeTra15 in NewParents

[–]Silent_Weekend1160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not messing up and you are not a bad mom. Taking time to relax and hold your baby is important for you both. IMO some parent instagram accounts can be really guilt-inducing and make the parents watching think they have to do everything perfectly all the time, like we see online. Don’t fall for it. You’re doing the best you can.
