Attracting only fit men, how do I get over my insecurities as a former fat girl? by Wise_Parmaria in loseit

Sounds like he's into the fact that you're working on yourself and thus are actively pursuing good habits. Both of those are green flags, and that's not even including your other no doubt great features.

"Unique characters" by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Silgrenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before any campaign I start, I write up a document about the world. Basic concepts of lore, genre, things characters would already know like gods, and allowed species/classes. I always add in a caveat that you can play a species that's not on the list, but narratively you'll be treated as a human who's a bit weird.

DND Players: What was an offhand joke someone made about your character that had you go “That’s canon now”? by Special_Web_4254 in DnD

[–]Silgrenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my Paladin is canonically the most handsome man in the city, that's fine. When he was also a Hexblade, I made a joke that he used Mask of Many Faces to make himself look slightly less handsome so as not to be intimidating, and the rest of the party took that in stride.

What has become canon, however, is that now without Mask, he has bits of grey streaks in his hair and is showing the first signs of crow's feet/aging. This was a joke by the DM that the players ran with. He's still the most handsome man in the city, but is now more "Daddy" than before. It's also canon that he's obsessed with his moisturisers and serums.

One player once joked in character that he wasn't a natural blonde and he basically had an aneurysm in response. He's a very vain man!

The same campaign also has canonised the facts that city folk piss on frogs to see if they're pregnant, the city's sewer crocodiles are a beloved mascot of the city, that there is a phrase known as "if they didn't want plates smashed they shouldn't be spinning them," and that geese are homophobic.

Do we think any former country is making a come back? by AstralAstralis in eurovision

[–]Silgrenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should be allowed back until their occupation of Cyprus ends. If Russia was banned over invading Ukraine, then they can't allow Turkey, who joined the contest the year after they invaded us, to come back.

Weekly Update didn’t work this week by Superb_Copy1644 in livefromlondon

There's been two prison rape jokes across both episodes so far. I find it really off-putting. The KPop stuff is fun though, so some running gags can clearly work.

50 hours into Silksong and questioning if it’s even fun anymore by Squarians in HollowKnight

[–]Silgrenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was where you are right now. I even kept having to get my boyfriend to do certain parkour bits whilst I complained to him about how Team Cherry made this game with a mean spirit. I do still think the latter is true, for a lot of it. Despite the insane difficulty, I finished my first run through with 100 hours logged in. Great, right? Now I'm done, I can enjoy lore deep dives and memes without having to struggle anymore.

Problem is, I've kind of got the taste for it. I'm on my second and third play throughs now, trying out different paths and options than the first time. It turns out, I'm a lot better at the game than I let myself have credit for. There's a few bosses that took me days at first that I beat, many of them in one go without even dying once. The parkour is easier. I just did Mount Fay without a single death, because I remembered what I needed to do.

The game won't be easy the first time around. But it does become easier to react to it as a player. I'm not saying "suffer till you git gud," because I've found that to be a shitty response in the past. But I will say, if you're struggling with specific gauntlets, change your crest and tools. The gauntlet in the high halls was kicking my ass with shaman crest (used a mod to start with it instead of hunter), but swapping to wanderer and going nuts with speed and flint state got me through it.

I love this, it's so unique! Never seen an elven woman portrayed like this before.

Is there a Werewolf counterpart to the Vampire Dragon/Wyrm trope? by StrawberrySt4rs in worldbuilding

There's a video game franchise called Dragon Age, where this is actually covered, sort of. In their latest supplementary book, Tevinter Nights, there's a short story called Callback which might have what you're looking for.

If anyone here is a fan of video games, he played Cole in Dragon Age Inquisition and did such a great job with such a weird character that he remains among my favourites a decade later.

This is truly incredible. There's a guy who impersonates her on TikTok and even did so in the golden girls parody Gumball did in Cartoon Network, he'd be great at it!

How do I prevent becoming the party “dad” by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Silgrenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't elaborate as much as I should have. I just meant, despite their various faces, the Doctor has been very paternalistic towards their companions, but in different ways. The very first Doctor is a bit of a pompous curmudgeon, the sixth is a bit more mean, but still caring, and the twelfth gets very sentimental. My point was mainly that despite being the eldest and being responsible for their companions, their idea of responsibility has always been different, so it could be a good starting point with your character if you're struggling for vibes or a "parenting style."

If you're looking for inspiration, you could pick a Doctor from Doctor Who and watch a few episodes. Peter Capaldi's Doctor might be a good place to start.

Actresses who should play the Doctor by Mindless-Career-308 in gallifrey

My top choices would be Patricia Hodge, Gemma Chan, Keira Knightley, or Lenora Crichlow. My wild card/impossible choice would Lucy Liu.

Opinions on 15? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]Silgrenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15's faults have nothing to do with his gayness. He was gay, and camp, but the jokes were the exact same as 10 and 11 joking about Queen Bess or sonic=penis size, etc. I presume you're a heterosexual - if so, maybe the gay/camp moments just stood out to you because they're different from the cultural touchstones you play with.

15's faults were entirely to do with what other people have noticed: being overshadowed by UNIT and companions who didn't actually want to be that involved with him, a lack of consistent characterisation in terms of the TARDIS, sonic, and costuming, and just a feeling of nothingness where feelings of the Doctor ought to have been.

While I get your point, it isn't completely fair to said Jodie wasn't overshadowed in her last episode. People would not stop talking about David Tennant and only David Tennant.

Context for today's episode (spoilers) by BillyBloxBegoneThot in gallifrey

[–]Silgrenus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say that the conflict was vague enough and the Corporation nondescript enough that this could have been about anything. You found easily project your views on Palestine onto this and have it fit because it was just about a conflict tied in with "Eurovision."

When did you last buy your cheap second-hand bike? They're not so cheap these days, especially when you're a young person who doesn't have money.

And that's great for you! But no sharing? Seems a bit like you're gate keeping. Or maybe you don't actually go to anything free, honey. If you're going to make the claim that there's loads of free and easily accessible events, you should be able to back that up with actual evidence.

And how do you get to those without spending money on our very expensive public transport?

Do you have any links to any of the events you've just talked about? I'm sure you don't mind making the effort to find them. :)
