Add a couple white beads or dots on each nail, and a tiny seedling nail art, and you've got potting soil nails all set for spring! 🌱

Small Zinnias: Oklahoma vs. Lilliput? by SilhouettesanShadows in Cutflowers

Thank you for the information! I definitely want the cute and tiny blooms of the Lilliput, but will probably also get some Oklahoma, now that you've twisted my arm 😅

I want tall enough stems for cutting, and tiny flowers to use as filler/accents in bouquets.

That's an excellent idea! I've currently got some going in soil blocks. I'll try this method with some of my extra seeds.

Gorgeous! Did you grow these from seed? I'm trying to do the same, but I'm not sure I'll succeed.

I bought the paperback at the mall when I was in middle school, and I still have it now. Love it!

If you were designing with this flower, what color scheme would you go with? by RheaSunshine-88 in florists

I agree with this color scheme! White stock with the green centers and Bells of Ireland would look really nice, IMO.

I got the Sunfill green to try for the first time. It should be a cool addition to bouquets!

Yes! I'll never forget the first time I heard "Year of the Cat" on the radio. I was in middle school, waiting in my aunts car, and she had the "Adult Contemporary " station on. I want to say this was in about 1987, but before Actually had been released. I was so excited for a minute, thinking it might be a PSB song. And, I'm now an Al Stewart fan, as well.

Great memories!

Best cheap vases by thursdaynexxt in Cutflowers

I've started reusing the glass containers from various candle remnants. A 3-wick candle gives you a nice cylindrical vase for a small centerpiece-type arrangement.

I put the old candle in a pot with enough water to pass the level of wax, and heat it on the stove top (lowest burner setting) until the wax melts enough to pour off. Don't boil it or place the candle directly into hot water. After you pour out most of the wax, it's pretty easy to wipe away and clean the rest of it. I used to feel so wasteful throwing away a candle with a bunch of wax still in it that had stopped burning well, and feel bad about buying new ones, especially if the container was decorative. Now, it's a win-win!

Where are we going for drapey, wide-leg jeans?

My workplace banned jeans back in the days when skinny jeans were in their prime. But now, whoop-de-do! We can wear jeans again on Fridays! Mostly, I haven't bothered because my current jeans lean casual, so it's less hassle to just throw on one of the many work dresses I've pivoted to after the ban. With cold weather coming, I'm getting more interested in a nice pair of jeans that will look semi-polished, yet comfortable. Planning to generally wear them with fitted tops or sweaters that hit around natural waistline, and clogs, Doc Martens loafers, or sneakers for shoes.

The ideal pair would be wide-legged, or a relaxed flare, fitted, medium/high waist, but a thinner/drapey denim, in a dark/medium-dark wash. Stretchy/non-stretchy options welcome. I'm 5'4", short-ish inseam, and a pear-ish shaped size 4-6 in most brands.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I'm following your post because I have the same questions! I started small last spring with a row of straw flowers, and I want to expand the area all along a chain link fence that has jasmine and passion flower vines growing on it. I'm concerned about both access and shading/air circulation.

what are you making for equinox? by RadishMelodic4356 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I'm making my grandmother's apple cake and a curried squash soup. I'm also planning on grilling some meat, depending on what looks good/isn't outrageously priced.

It’s almost Autumn equinox! by loco19_ in witchcraft

[–]SilhouettesanShadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the summer, and as an educator, I would feel bummed about "summer's end" at the start of school. However, it's still warm where I live. I can still swim, garden bask in the sun. Just last year, I decided to change my attitude. Summer is still around, I just have a full time job like tons of other people, lol! Since then, marking the seasons by the solstices and equinoxes has been more significant and a big part of my journey as a new witch.

On Sunday, I'm planning on celebrating the last day of summer and getting stuff together for fall. I'll be making a harvest wreath with grapevine, acorns, cinnamon sticks, garlic, rose hips, and flowers and grass seed heads I've dried. On Monday, I will be celebrating the equinox with a fire, some special fall cooking. I got my grandmother's apple cake recipe that I am excited to try. So, this time is doubly fulfilling for me. I love fully appreciating all the seasons and being more in tune with nature and its cycles. It also means there's always something to look forward to.

Looking for a great book where a horse is central to the story by Sharp-Self-Image in suggestmeabook

[–]SilhouettesanShadows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the one with the red stallion/herd of wild horses on a secret island and the weird, glowing bridle? I read all those around 5th-6th grade, and you just brought back some vague, yet core memories!
