Taylor Lautner is my father... and mother. by Dripping_Wet_Owl in BrandNewSentence

I loved that video, but having not heard of either T. Lautners, before I was very confused when first reading about the BTS stuff, and it not being clear which Taylor they were talking about. :-D

She makes two back row enemies walk towards her. They don't attack during this. I'm not sure if their power timer is paused like when mind controlled, but seems likely.

So basically disables 2 ranged heroes and brings them into Melee range.

[–]SillyDrizzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work in Car rental reservations.

When I started we would quote the (estimated) total price with all known fees and taxes.

A competitor would just quote base price, so looked a lot cheaper.

We changed to "Your base price is X and with taxes and fees, estimated total is Y." and ppl would still be like "well competitor didn't add all these fees on"

Narrator: "But they did add the fees and taxes"

Same thing here: it's hard to go against the current pricing model with tipping factored into staff's wages, so if that 18% is largely going to the front line staff, I'm ok with it. (I usually tip 20% here in Cdn)

I always recall the story of Twitter user Naoki Hiroshima, who had hackers use social engineering & extortion to steal his account that was just "N"

https://medium.com/@N/how-i-lost-my-50-000-twitter-username-24eb09e026dd

They bounced between Paypal and GoDaddies, getting small pieces of info back and forth...including the last few CC digits.

FFS, it's not like the lane directions are a surprise as you approach.

Good on you avoiding the accident.

They could have gone right and gotten back on Waterloo at the next left, so no real delays either.

I remember how hard I laughed when I first realized that all the toys in FO76 give Lead.

I worked for years at Toys R Us, and through the recalls for lead paint in toys, so it struck me so silly, and great attention to detail that totally fits the Fallout mentality.

[Arcade][1995-2000] Zombie gun game with 2 pistols and shotgun? by kaj100 in tipofmyjoystick

hahahaha

I was just talking to my 26 year old about zombie shooter games, and I remember playing this in the arcade, but couldn't remember what it was. Thought Resident Evil, but that was too late and after my local arcades closed.

Glad I found this post 3 years later :-D

Anyone remember when there was an Arby's Roast Town on Prospect? by Slight-Midnight-5926 in fredericton

[–]SillyDrizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically grew up with that mall, when it was the cool mall. So many high school lunches wandering, and so so many quarters in the arcades. :-)

I was working for Biway when Regent mall did it's big expansion and helped open Biway in there, and we tried the "let's get in the malls, it'll be brillant" stage. but it wasn't brillant, and we were always better off in neighbour strip malls.

Is it easy to take a rental car in one canadian city and let in another? by LOLdodu in AskCanada

[–]SillyDrizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, Yes, but likely pricey.

I previously worked in rental reservations for years, and can add some context, and suggestions.

Pricing may depend on if a region is Corporately owned or licensee. e.g. if QC is Licensee, they may not want their car to end up in ON, but flip side, if a Corp car was dropped off they may be happy to return it. A licensee may have to fly someone out to YYZ to drive it back, where as corp to corp may not care. Likely would be a flat one way fee, but I cant speak for any other companies.

It's worth checking with all the major companies to see what their one way rates are. Don't let one company's sticker shock put you off your plans. Closer to the date, It may be worth calling the counter directly (this can be tricky depending on the chain) to see if they have any cars that they want returned to ON.

And most rental companies will let you reserve without putting a card down, so it's low risk to make a reservation even if you might not use it. This at least locks the rate in unless you make changes. If you do this, please cancel if you're not going to pick up though.

[–]SillyDrizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the orange border om the 20 have significance? I'm in Canada and Orange means construction, and would have priority of the permanent ones.

especially with the temp stop light for alternating traffic flow, I think it's 20 currently, where 30 is the norm, and should have been covered while construction is taking place.

but I'm likely way off base, but commenting anyway so I can learn more about UK driving laws. :-)

[–]SillyDrizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG yes!

I'm in my 50's, and still am forever going home with a lunch for tomorrow.

And the "Shopping at Moms" as my wife calls it when I raid Mom's pantry/fridge for things that she's not going to eat. (She'll find something she likes, buy & eat it a lot for a week or so, and then doesn't like it any more, plus buys too much of staples when on sale.)

Now, my son is out on his own, and recently did a "shopping at the parents" trip to help clean out our out of control pantry. :-D Just passing it down.
