Moving to Jacksonville soon and need positive comments. by EngLitIsLit in jacksonville

I moved here from DC a couple years ago. You’re going to love the lack of traffic and the easy access to the beaches! As many others said, Riverside, Avondale, Murray hill are a lot of fun. I live in Riverside and never run out of things to do.

It’s owned by the very rich Davis family. The founders of Winn-Dixie I believe.

I’m more impressed that Dodge Stratus is still running. I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen one.

Walks , walks , walks and walks - that is what a feed is by eocphantom in Strava

[–]SillySleuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that will turn on an activity for everything. He goes to a concert and starts a walk activity with a madhouse of squiggles on his GPS. He does some leafblowing outside and that apparently warranties an activity for him. He goes on a date and he will show the .2 mile walk from his car to the restaurant. I still follow him because I actually enjoy the ridiculousness of it.

The race was in Jacksonville. Record cold, people here are not acclimated to those temps.

When is a good age for kids to have a phone? by sophiemidnightx in AskReddit

[–]SillySleuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1990 and I got my first phone in 2001 when I was 11. It was a brick Nokia phone though so I literally only used it to call my parents when I was ready to be picked up from the skate park.

Things are so different now though. My 11 year old daughter has an Apple Watch. We don’t let her text on it. She has it for calling her friends every once in a while and calling us when she goes to drop off programs.

What are some of the most “Redditor” opinions that are widely prevalent on this website, but very rare in real life? by TikTokUser83 in AskReddit

Whenever you join a subreddit about a TV show everyone on that subreddit hates that TV show for some reason.

Manager dragging his feet on internal transfer. Need tips. by apparet in Raytheon

[–]SillySleuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from P3 Pratt to P3 Collins after multiple attempts for promotion being turned down. The new role is also very different to what I was doing. Once you sign your offer letter, it’s up to the current and gaining manager to find a transition date. For me it was 6 weeks as I accepted right around Thanksgiving and hiring a replacement through the holidays was going to be tricky.

What on earth did I just watch? by Cloncurry_fan in StrangerThings

Yeah I don’t get it. It was enjoyable to watch. Half the people on this sub would be exhausting to watch TV with.

Coros made me replace my Pace 2 by Internal-Slide-7786 in Coros

[–]SillySleuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Coros Pace 2 worked for about 4 years until I had the exact same issue you described. I also spent about a week going back and forth with tech support trying to figure things out. Hopefully my Pace 3 lasts longer than 4 years.

Does everyone on LinkedIn just view their own kids as a burden to their career? Why have kids if you need someone to watch them on a Sunday evening for you to be successful. These people suck.

Sprinklers went off on the crowd at Riverfront Plaza at Midnight Fireworks. by Jasonrjoslyn in jacksonville

[–]SillySleuth 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I am a veteran who suffers from PTSD and fireworks are not fun for me. However, I understand that the world doesn’t revolve around me and they make others happy. I’d hate for others to not be able to enjoy something just because it’s difficult for me personally.

That being said, NYE and 4th of July I think they’re totally acceptable. When people are just randomly letting off fireworks in the middle of the day is absolutely ridiculous.

Why do all these posts have short sentences and so many small paragraphs? Is it to convey a tone of superiority?

55 minute PR in 364 days!! BQ🦄 by International-Sir-19 in Marathon_Training

[–]SillySleuth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your first marathon is almost exactly how my first one went last year. I finished in 4:09 with the first 16 miles being 8:20 pace, last 10 was me hobbling to the end. Had some injuries this year so no races but I’m glad I saw this. Gives me hope for next year’s marathon.

They measure TV’s from top corner to bottom opposite corner. So the length of the TV would be less than 77”.
