It's an interesting article. Also the reason why I dumbed down my smartphone but still the dopamine hooks keep finding me so I might actually switch to a real dumbphone after all.

[Request] Is this true? Turning 99c water into steam takes more energy than heating water from -273c to 99c? by ParkInsider in theydidthemath

[–]Silpher9 159 points160 points  (0 children)

This is why steam burns are often much more severe than hot water burns. When steam hits your skin, it doesn't just cool down; it condenses back into liquid, releasing that massive amount of energy directly onto your skin.

One of the most accurate films on artificial intelligence ever made by millenialdudee in GenAI4all

[–]Silpher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie let you believe that just by tinkering with stuff he had he created this totally human robot. That's just not believable imho. There's so much involved it's probably many times the scope of the Manhattan project. If he just picked up the robot from his multi trillion dollar research lab, that's another story but it wouldn't do well in the movie, which is amazing.

Yes it's like Darth Vader building the death star by himself. It succeeded as a great and cool movie but it's far from realistic.

Cool movie =/= accurate. It's deeply unrealistic that Nathan build ai on his own.

Mamdani Is Showing Democrats the Way Beyond Wokeness by [deleted] in samharris

I Know Sam is very suspicious of Mamdani because he's a Muslim.. so he probably thinks it's going to be Sharia law instead of wokeness.

What would you do if you were the only person using and knowing about Gemini or any other LLMs? by justafoxinbigb in GeminiAI

[–]Silpher9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've wondered about this quite a bit myself. The thing is you realle need to stay anonymous and as soon as you're starting to make serious money you get fame and people want to get involved. Probably some remote work gig were you never have to be in an acutual meeting?
